HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

No idea how to switch them off for serious adulting - but it is now my life’s ambition to find a pair in size7 - serious shoe envy!!!

sue20 · 08/10/2021 23:02

Hahaha it will definitely wear down. Think the bank manager will increase your borrowing power for sure!!

HoneyDragon! I thought about you the other day, when reading a thread in the course of which one poster asked another if her DH was a 'spoony fucker'.

I'm disappointed that you didn't wear the flashing shoes to work, though.

Zatapec · 09/10/2021 00:49

The more you wear them and stamp your feet the sooner they will run out of battery!

DebHagland · 09/10/2021 06:39

Just tell everyone that you bought them because they will be ideal with the nights drawing in, will work brilliantly with the reflective jacket while dog walking, jogging, just claim it is a very "grown up" idea to make sure you don't get run over.

wildchild554 · 09/10/2021 09:35

Try putting them in the washing machine in a pillowcase if you can, see if that breaks the light.

Oldraver · 09/10/2021 10:00

I would love these for winter. My bus stop has no lighting and I've been told to shine a light to stop the bus, my phone wasn't cutting it, so I had a Mickey Mouse spinning light

I could just put my foot out to stop the bus

helpIhateclothesshopping · 09/10/2021 11:16

We had some from Lidl and the off button was barely noticeable between the ankle support and the top lace hole. There is usually a USB port somewhere nearby for recharging them too.

Curlygirl06 · 09/10/2021 11:29

Someone put a link up for light up trainers WITH WHEELS ON! Can't find it now- please can someone put the link up please?????
I need new work shoes, they would be fabulous, whizzing round the shop! Thanks.

whynotwhatknot · 09/10/2021 12:42

UPDATE

🐏🐏🐏🐏🐏🐏🐏🐏🐏🐏🐏

My flashy trainers have arrived!

I can confirm that they are fine for anyone wide of hoof.

Made my DD’s day. So thank you HoneyDragon

We now have matching trainers.

She had asked me for flashy shoes earlier in the week, which is why I jumped on them. I had been searching for flashy shoes in a bigger size for ages. So delighted that I have some. We are going to wear them in the dark later.

She seems unfazed by them being boys shoes. Hasn’t noticed.

Boring shop managers! I could wear them TO the shop? Lol.
ThumbWitchesAbroad · 09/10/2021 16:28

Glad you've taken this in your stride, Honey.

I suppose the other option was to let Hully play with them - but then they'd be no use for anything!

The batteries will wear out eventually - probably just before Christmas, according to sod's law!

Emberino · 09/10/2021 16:48

Love this thread. My son’s trainers did eventually stop when they got wet but they could be turned off by stamping quickly twice?

pollymere · 09/10/2021 18:36

Usually it's under the insock in the heel, or on the outside sole of the shoe. Some manufacturers don't provide one though...

That was me and my pan - I'm demanding unicorn light up sneakers as an apology Grin

I think the logical next step is a matching flashing collar for Hully.

whynotwhatknot · 09/10/2021 23:33

Of course curly go for it

Stirling2701 · 10/10/2021 07:37
