HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

try the side of the shoe near the heel, it's likely to be a press on or off and inside the fabric of the shoe so not actually visible, you have to press every inch of the shoe till you feel something.

Welcome back

IhateBoswell · 07/10/2021 12:38

Oh my God 😭😂

Figmentofimagination · 07/10/2021 12:40

My 4yo had some light up Spider-man shoes from Sports Direct so I've just been to investigate. I can't find any switch at all and the insoles are glued down so no way of checking underneath.
Only thing I know to stop the flashing is get them wet. May have broken the flash on his previous pair by throwing them in the washing machine a few times after potty training accidents.

Just own it OP. Light up shoes didn't exist in our child hood. So you are having second childhood.

Figmentofimagination · 07/10/2021 12:40

But can I just say I would love my own light up shoes.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 07/10/2021 12:41

Oh Honeydragon I have missed your posts Grin

ACNHMAMA · 07/10/2021 12:41

Love it. I'm also small of foot and have almost been caught out by kids shoes loads of times.

lughnasadh · 07/10/2021 12:43

No idea how to turn them off, but I really wish they'd make them in bigger adult sizes.

So handy for winter nights, and just so much fun. My teenage son, in size 9s, would love a pair. He still raves about the light up wellies he had years ago. Grin

One of my most embarrassing moments as a parent was realising that DD had her flashing shoes on when going through the Waitomo glow worm caves in complete darkness. Talk about ruining the moment for all the other tourists. I had to take her shoes off, hide them in my bag and make her walk through to the boats in wet socks.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 07/10/2021 12:45

My daughters only flash for a little while, they re activated my walking then stop within a few seconds of sitting still.

So you'll be fine in the cinema and look super funky walking along a dark street Grin

notapizzaeater · 07/10/2021 12:45

Ooh I'd love love a pair of flashing trainers 😍

(Misses point of thread))

RonaKnob · 07/10/2021 12:46

Omg. I need some light up shoes

grapewine · 07/10/2021 12:46

I love this 😂

FusionChefGeoff · 07/10/2021 12:47

Why has no one DEMANDED a photo yet??

minipie · 07/10/2021 12:49

Geox ones have a little power symbol by the top of the laces on one side, which you press. However none of the others we’ve had have a switch…

Can you send a link? My 9 yr old would love some Grin she’s been upset that they mostly come in toddler sizes

Figmentofimagination · 07/10/2021 12:49

I just had a look at light up trainers from next online. I really hope it's these ones

HoneyDragon · 07/10/2021 12:52

Thank you for the warm welcomed back. I couldn’t think of anywhere Alderm that would
A) understand
B) possibly have a solution

I’m keeping the lights on account early morning dog walks will be awesome, but I do work in a preschool and if I wear these flashing I will cause a riot. Albeit a two foot high one.

Do they come in adult size 7?

Asking for myself a friend.

marriednotdead · 07/10/2021 12:55

It had to be you, where have you been?!

HoneyDragon · 07/10/2021 12:56

Here. Look no planes or unicorns or owt. Just some rather pleasant teal and purple camo trainers with orthopaedic soles.
