GreekTragedy · 01/10/2021 09:58

I couldn't see a thread about this so thought I'd start one.

I am completely shocked at this video.

This "officer" came out of nowhere and did a flying kick to a young girl!!

Now I can understand police getting a it violent in the heat of the moment but this? This is outright disgusting.

That officer should be charged.

What the fuck has happened to our police force??

Or not are

CRbear · 01/10/2021 10:19

“Girly boys” ? You can’t be serious. This is so insulting to women.

The police officer has self referred for a conduct review. I like to hope it’s not because he feels over a barrel due to the existence of the film, but I doubt it.

Not a good time for this to come out either. Agree the police force needs reform.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/10/2021 10:20

I certainly don't understand a Police Officer who "allegedly" there to uphold the Law getting violent in the heat of the moment. If they can't control themselves at all time in all circumstances there clearly in the wrong career.

It goes without saying he most definitely should be charged. I highly doubt anyone will or more to the point could possibly disagree with you. I don't know about him being as bad as a thug. He's 1000 times worse than one.

gardeninggirl68 · 01/10/2021 10:26

@Mariell posts like yours is part of the problem

rocklamp · 01/10/2021 10:27

What a fucking thug. You can rupture someone's internal organs by kicking them in the abdomen. I hope he's prosecuted, but not holding my breath.

Porfre · 01/10/2021 10:30

Why was she attacking a Police Officer.
It's not an excuse. But if she hadnt done this she wouldn't have been attacked

Theunamedcat · 01/10/2021 10:31

They are supposed to respond in a proportional manner that was lacking in the footage

How recent was this? Given recent events I suppose I can see why she didn't want her friend arrested by a lone officer it was a right out of control mess

pisspants · 01/10/2021 10:32

I think police need to have cameras on their uniforms at all times, like a dash cam. It will hold them more accountable and provide vital evidence of police abuse if needed.

Ozanj · 01/10/2021 10:32

I bet he has kicked and been violent to women before. Hope the police probe this further.

Ozanj · 01/10/2021 10:33

@Porfre

Why was she attacking a Police Officer. It's not an excuse. But if she hadnt done this she wouldn't have been attacked
It’s possible she was drunk. The article says the guy filming thinks both girls were playing up to him. They’re kids, possibly drunk, so of course they will. The way the first cop was arresting her is probably the way to do it - gently as possible and then asking for backup rather than just ram your foot in her pelvis.
TheTheoryOfThyme · 01/10/2021 10:34

There's a way that police officers are trained to restrain and arrest people, and this isn't it.

But just 'one bad apple', eh? There, I'll say it before the usual suspects show up to tell us about their lovely police officer hubby/brother/selves.

IT'S INSTITUTIONAL.

TyrannysaurusXXrightshoarder · 01/10/2021 10:35

And as seen as they were called to reports of ‘under age drinkers’ (not mentioned in that piece but reported yesterday) he presumably knew she was a child.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 01/10/2021 10:37

Porfre

She may be drunk or on drugs or mentally unwell. There are many reasons why she might be reacting the way she is. The point is that a police officer is trained to deal with those situations and he could have moved her away from the situation without using that level of force. She was not presenting a level of threat that justified what he did.

FAQs · 01/10/2021 10:39

I’d be livid if my daughter ever acted like that!! However the male Police officer who went straight in with a kick was out of order.

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius · 01/10/2021 10:40

Total overkill if all it was was being in a pub at 15.

Saying stand back and then taking action if she didn't is one thing but this is just aggressive violence towards a 15yo girl.

Fucks sake!

hamstersarse · 01/10/2021 10:41

I would hate to be in the police. Especially now.

They have lost all respect and so people resist arrest and interfere with attempted arrests (like to girl kicked in this footage) which just puts everyone in more danger.

It is a partnership and people should be taught not to resist arrest. If they have a complaint, they can deal with it at the station and after the high emotion of the incident.

I can see it both ways.

FAQs · 01/10/2021 10:41

The man videoing sounds an arsehole.

Gingernaut · 01/10/2021 10:42

She was attacking another officer who was restraining her friend.

FlorenceWintle · 01/10/2021 10:43

He was bang out of order and should rightly be investigated.

However, no one is discussing what those girls were doing. Resisting arrest, fighting and struggling with police officers. I’d be fucking mortified if my teenage DC did that.

TheTheoryOfThyme · 01/10/2021 10:43

My DP's exW was pepper sprayed by a police officer for 'resisting arrest' with DSS (then a child) right there. The reason she was 'resisting arrest' was because she felt she couldn't leave DSS alone.

The police that day could have checked in five seconds and seen she had severe mental health problems, which is why she was shouting in the road again (her arrestable 'crime'). She needed help, not pepper spraying ffs.

The icing on the cake is that her mental health issues stem largely from institutional abuse in a care home, that the police ignored.

Herja · 01/10/2021 10:44

They do this.

My mate had 3 broken ribs from the police, in a kicking behind the station in 2007. Doesn't surprise me it's still the same.

They're like this with everyone they precieve as part of the 'underclass'.

Porfre · 01/10/2021 10:44

She doesnt have a sticker on her that days her age.
From the footage you cant tell how old she is.
And you dont know what the Offocer who kicked her saw. Literally before she was kicked she was attacking the other Police Officer's head.
If I was her parent I'd be ashamed at how my child behaved and be down on them like a ton of bricks to make sure nothing like this happened again.

Shes lucky she in the UK if you call that Police brutality.

Comefromaway · 01/10/2021 10:46

Whilst the girls might have been drunk/abusive can easily imagine my autistic daughter reacting like the girl on the floor being arrested was reacting if she was touched the wrong way or was having a sensory overload/meltdown.
