Policeman kicks 15 year old girl in the stomach

I couldn't see a thread about this so thought I'd start one.

I am completely shocked at this video.

This "officer" came out of nowhere and did a flying kick to a young girl!!

Now I can understand police getting a it violent in the heat of the moment but this? This is outright disgusting.

That officer should be charged.

What the fuck has happened to our police force??

Do all police forces offer the same self-defence / combat training, @ILoveJamaica? Because from what I can see online, different MMA providers seem to offer custom courses for police in groups, and individual officers are quoted talking about taking various courses to improve their own skills

I only worked on one force, so can't say for sure. You have extensive training at the start. You are taught how to use the baton, how to place people in certain "holds", how to apply cuffs safely, how to extract yourself if you are being strangled, how to get someone on the ground. You are also taught what not to do, for eg. never cuff someone and leave them lying on their front - it's not safe for them. You also have CS gas sprayed in to your open eyes at close range, so that you understand the severity of what you would be doing to someone if you deploy your spray.

You have annual refresher training, and if you miss it you can't work! You will go over all the techniques and there might be some new ones added.

@ILoveJamaica do you want to start a thread or shall I

Thank you for offering

ILoveJamaica · 02/10/2021 17:46

Didn’t you say upthread you’d reported colleagues? What did you report them for, if this is the worst you can think of?

That wasn't me, I've never reported anyone. I think there were a few other Officers on the thread though.

nannannanana · 02/10/2021 17:47

Sorry @ILoveJamaica just seen you didn't. Want to start a thread. Apologies

You said earlier you’re trained to kick - what’s the training specifically? Any rules around kicking?
ILoveJamaica · 02/10/2021 17:47

I'm not starting a thread. I don't have the time honestly. I've had a free afternoon today.

You’ve never reported anyone? Not even the one you knew wasn’t listening to people?

What’s the second worst thing you ever saw a colleague do?

nannannanana · 02/10/2021 17:48

@ILoveJamaica do you ever feel it's a boys club?

Are you supported at work by your male colleagues?

Do you feel they understand women's fear now?

ILoveJamaica · 02/10/2021 17:49

I will come back tomorrow/later, but have to make dinner now, LOL.

ILoveJamaica · 02/10/2021 17:50

What’s the second worst thing you ever saw a colleague do?

I can't think of any other thing. I worked with a great bunch of people that treated everyone with the utmost of respect.

Sure, makes sense to offer to do an AMA when you’re short on time.

Oh really? Not even a dodgy WhatsApp?

That seems very unlikely.

nannannanana · 02/10/2021 17:52

I'm ex army. I left twenty years ago.

It was very much a boys club.

Sexual discrimination was rife. Complaints by women were not taken seriously.

I complained once about a male colleague who commented on all of the females weight and how good looking he perceived them.

Got absolutely nowhere and made to feel I was making a big deal out of nothing.

Hopefully it's changed now. Rightly or wrongly I imagine the police force to be similar. Hopeful I am wrong.

ILoveJamaica · 02/10/2021 17:53

@ILoveJamaica do you ever feel it's a boys club?

No, never

Are you supported at work by your male colleagues?

Absolutely. No problems whatsoever.

Do you feel they understand women's fear now?

I don't think any men really get this. How can they? They don't have to risk assess constantly like we do. I know my DH certainly tries very hard to and is a genuine gentle giant.

I think I'm allowed to cook my dinner!

Also why didn’t you report your colleague you knew wasn’t doing his job properly?

Please don’t forget to answer the question about all that kicking training you get, I’m really interested in it.

And a current officer would probably do a better AMA. I left about 8 years ago.

Well, you’re here now:

What specifically was the kicking training you got?

What’s the worst thing your DH has ever seen a colleague do?

Oh, and why didn’t you report the colleague who ignored and belittled the man he was supposed to be helping?
ILoveJamaica · 02/10/2021 18:00

Can't think of anything, tbh.

You have to remember, that good policing is never reported anywhere. My DH is an amazing Officer. He does good every day. It never makes the news.

Only controversial things make the news or social media

Shelovesamystery · 02/10/2021 18:01

The two girls behaviour is appalling. They were drunk and being unbelievably stupid. If one of my dc's acted like that then I would expect them to face consequences not only from the police but would also serve my own consequences at home.

What that 3rd police officer did was abhorrent! There were other, far safer and more sensible, options of dealing with that girl than to kick her ffs. He should have restrained her. He is obviously nothing but a knuckle dragging bully who only signed up to the job for the power. Even if he thought she might have had a knife he still should have restrained her not booted her ffs! Disgusting! I hope to god he gets the sack as I do not want people like him representing our police force (which I believe is mainly made up of decent people who went into the job because they wanted to do some good in the world).

I am gobsmacked that anyone could defend this police officers actions. You must have one hell of a warped mind to watch that video and think that the teenage girl got what she deserved Shock

I was brand new. Only been in the job about a week! Too afraid to cause any trouble, maybe?
