It's a fucking dreadful film, lifted somewhat by solid central performances. Swayze was always engaging and was pretty good in this; Grey wasn't bad, and Cynthia Rhodes was excellent.

I watched it with ds11 recently - I kept saying ‘tell me if you’re scared babe, it’s a bit scary.’ He laughed at literally every scary bit! Still a fantastic film, and so is Dirty Dancing, despite being a bit cheesy.

That is, I watched The Lost Boys with ds, I don’t find Dirty Dancing scary.

I like the theme ('I've had the time of my life') but the film is pants - and I say that as someone who was a teenager when it came out - I remember Jackie, Blue Jeans et al being all over it (and Monsieur Swayze of course). I'm a very nostalgic person but Dirty Dancing doesn't even make my nostalgia playlist. If I want a nostalgic Patrick Swayze film I'll watch Ghost, which, while ludicrous, is at least funny thanks to Whoopi Goldberg.

For Patrick Swayze fix I'd rather watch Roadhouse 😍
