It’s not the best, but certainly not the worst. ‘Grease’ is much more problematic IMO. I did cry laughing at the ‘Cinema Sins’ take on DD though.

The best bit about the film is Patrick Swayze's shoulders.

Followed by the soundtrack.

DH did the dance and lift with his best female friend at our engagement party (I’m 5’ 10”, she is closer to 5’), it was absolutely feckin hilarious, and everyone still reminisces about it to this day.

This is really interesting, I thought it was just me that absolutely hated that film.

Awww yeah it's cheesy shite that hasn't aged all that well, but I still love it. Watched it when I had covid and felt so ill I couldn't read or concentrate. Dirty Dancing, perfect.

Along with Hot Fuzz. Love that film.

The dds made me watch twilight when it first came out, it was crap so I made them watch lost boys to see a proper vampire film, they agreed mine was infinitely better.

Dirty dancing, is the best film for a rainy winter’s midweek night, with pizza and Prosecco, but I think best film ever is pushing it a lot. In the same genre Grease is way better.

I love both of them, and Top Gun. Rewatching though, the Grease storyline wouldn't make it if it was to be made now, I think DD would.

Must be one of those things where you had to be there.

It wasn’t weird, we’re all good friends.

We now live on the other side of the world from her and have down for 10 years, so you don’t need to worry that he’s going to run off with her.

I still love it. The plot is shit, the clothes and hairdos are pure 80s, but Swayze is impossibly beautiful and the soundtrack is brilliant. It's one of my comfort films.

My friend gave me a copy and I still haven't watched it. She's horrified!

I was advised to watch it by a friend who said it was the best film ever. It was so bad I thought she'd been taking the piss. But she hadn't been, she loves it. I thought it was one of the worst films I'd ever seen. The acting is terrible, the storyline is ridiculous. I hate it.

I love it but agree with other posters that roadhouse is a better swayze film.

I watched it as a teen and loved it .
Now as a parent of a teenage girl I dont find it quite as romantic!

I love Dirty dancing, but I also loved cocktail so I might not be the best judge.

No. Have been watching old films on Disney plus and they are all better than Dirty Dancing.

My favourite eighties films are About Last Night and St Elmo’s Fire.
St Elmo’s Fire doesn’t really stand up to scrutiny at all now. But there’s Rob Lowe. So…

I felt a bit queasy watching the deleted scene! Thank goodness it wasn't left in.
