Honestly Ive just finished Time what an amazing piece of tv. I love him. My friend has put a downer on it saying he cant act and his accent is the same in everything. He can, cant he?

Lol, bless you, no.

He can do 'Sean Bean'. That's about it.

Hottubtimemachine · 17/06/2021 21:19

He’s fantastic. Yes.

Doyoumind · 17/06/2021 21:19

I've never been his greatest fan but of course he can act and he certainly doesn't always have a Yorkshire accent.

TheQueef · 17/06/2021 21:19

No.
But it isn't his acting you were watching.

Chamomileteaplease · 17/06/2021 21:20

I never really liked him but I watched this and thought he played the part really well - very understated. So understated, it was a bit boring but I thought believable.

TheBobJog · 17/06/2021 21:20

I think he's a very good actor. Really good.

But no, he can't do accents for shit.

4PawsGood · 17/06/2021 21:20

He wasn’t quite swashbuckling when I met him irl. So I’ll say he can maybe act a bit. Or a lot. I don’t know. X

4PawsGood · 17/06/2021 21:21

Fuckit ignore the kiss. Talking to my DH at the same time.

HunkyPunk · 17/06/2021 21:21

Of course he can Shock Don't listen to your friend. Love Sean Bean and have loved the subtle complexities of Time.

EvilEdna1 · 17/06/2021 21:22

I think he really act when he has a good role like that one or where he played a priest ....can't remember the name of it.

doadeer · 17/06/2021 21:22

I think he can. He can do a posh accent aswell like as 006 or Borimir

riotlady · 17/06/2021 21:23

I think there’s a difference between decent actors, who do a good job of doing a range of emotions/actions convincingly (I am angry/I am sad/I am dying), and excellent actors who are able to become completely different people. He’s the former, not the latter- he does a great job in all his roles, but he’s always Sean Bean.

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/06/2021 21:23

I saw him onstage ago starring in Macbeth in the West End and he was amazing. He can act, he just can't really do accents.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 17/06/2021 21:24

I think he's a good actor. I like him in the fantasy roles he plays, Boromir/Ned Stark.

Don't think he's a great human being though, 4 ex wives who say he's a misogynist and accusations of abusive behaviour.

N4ish · 17/06/2021 21:24

He can definitely act. I saw him as Macbeth on stage ages ago and he was brilliant. Yes, his accent was the same as always but somehow it just worked.

N4ish · 17/06/2021 21:25

Cross post! @HundredMilesAnHour

EarringsandLipstick · 17/06/2021 21:26

I think he's amazing. Great actor.

Cocolapew · 17/06/2021 21:26

We never have time to find out, he dies in everything before the end.

EarringsandLipstick · 17/06/2021 21:26

Ahhhh. Noooo. I don't want to read this!

This^

Neither could Marilyn Monroe, but who cares?

justsaymaybe · 17/06/2021 21:28

I've just finished watching Snowpiercer and he's good in that.

MadMadMadamMim · 17/06/2021 21:30

Of course he can. He uses his own accent if it doesn't impact on the role.

Ask your friend if she's seen Patriot Games with Harrison Ford. Sean Bean does an Ulster accent as an IRA man.

Honeyroar · 17/06/2021 21:31

He was absolutely lovely when I met him. Very down to Earth.

LushAlice · 17/06/2021 21:33

'Broken' was the series about the priest. Terrific actor!

Billybagpuss · 17/06/2021 21:37

My introduction to Sean bean was as Oliver Mellors, I need say no more.
