I just ate two time out wafers, which I really like, but I'd love one of the old two fingered Time Outs that had the later of twirl type chocolate in the middle.

I loved a Spira too. And a Galaxy Liaison.

Any other chocolate bars you miss and could eat right now

Yes to Spira, Secret and Mingles and I’d forgotten about Flyte, they got me through high school!

LineofFruity · 07/06/2021 22:11

Spira…. Can we not get these brought back. And Fuse. But definitely Spira.

mangoontoast · 07/06/2021 22:34

Why is everyone missing Drifters? They are still around! I had one yesterday.

Does anyone else remember this gorgeous thing from the 00’s?

Threads like this always make me feel so sad. Now the shops are full of all the nauseatingly sweet 'Wonka' bar nonsense.

Walnut Whip fans can find all sorts of creativity on that front at M&S. My favourite are their mini-whips in a bag.

Also, anyone missing old-style Milky Ways should try the American Three Musketeers bar (available in random places sometimes). They are pretty similar.

3LittleDucksQuack · 08/06/2021 10:55

Fuse I used to buy one every day on the way to school haha.
And spira..

3LittleDucksQuack · 08/06/2021 10:56

I thought you could still buy drifter? By the biscuits like ' penguins' etc.? Or am i imagining that

StiffyByng · 08/06/2021 10:58

Forgot to mention my Fuse story! We went to Cadbury World when they were just launching the Fuse bar in the 90s and wanted to publicise them, so everyone visiting got given a bag of them to try out. That was a great trip.

Also, at school we did Young Enterprise (running a small business in a team) and had to have a meeting in a company HQ as part of the process. We lived near Cadbury Schweppes HQ so got to go to their boardroom, and they laid out a massive pile of chocolate bars and fizzy drinks and told us we could take whatever we wanted. Looking back, I sometimes wonder if I dreamed it. We all staggered out with full carrier bags.

ElderMillennial · 08/06/2021 11:02

You can buy Penguins

They discontinued Drifters in 2019. Might be a few kicking round in Poundland etc? I miss those.
S African Dairy Milk is the closest I have found to our proper old UK recipe. Top Deck should come back to these shores!
I loved Cadbury Fuses when I was a teenager; apparently you can get them in India nowadays.

Cantstandtherainydays · 08/06/2021 11:31

Macintosh eggs, same size as creme eggs, but filled with caramel and marshmallow, they were amazing!

Sadly yes, it was either a mirage or you have confused them with Time Outs. Or a time slip to 2018.

Might be a few kicking round in Poundland etc?

I have eaten them all.

LampCampChamp · 08/06/2021 12:43

Dream Bar.

White 'chocolate' yumminess!

Pinuporc · 08/06/2021 13:08

Was dream bar the one that Anthea Turner did a cringe-fest pose for her wedding with?

BIWI · 08/06/2021 13:09

@cheeseismydownfall

Can anyone remember something that had five or six individual dark chocolates filled with a strawberry (or could have been raspberry) filling, that were packaged up to be the same size and shape as a normal chocolate bar? I think the wrapper was mainly blue. Would have been in the 80s I guess. They were delicious!
Was that Cadbury Silk?
BIWI · 08/06/2021 13:14

I worked on the development and launch of both Time Out and Fuse. I think Fuse was discontinued simply because it didn't sell enough. But I've never understood why they've changed Time Out to the wafer version - except it was probably a bit too similar to Twirl. The wafer product is fine, but nowhere near as delicious as the Flake version was.

BIWI · 08/06/2021 13:14

I also worked on Cadbury Strollers, which is another product that died a death!

BIWI · 08/06/2021 13:15

Strollers

BIWI · 08/06/2021 13:17

Interestingly there's no reference online (that I can find) to Cadbury Silk. (Other than they're now using the Silk sub-brand on blocks of chocolate)

But they definitely existed @cheeseismydownfall!

SheriffCallie · 08/06/2021 13:19

Yes, I posted earlier in the thread that this was my memory of its name! I’m so glad someone else remembers it. I’ve been concerned that I’d full on hallucinated it, in all its 30p extravagance (when everything else was about 22p).

EBearhug · 08/06/2021 13:32

BUWU, which products didn't you work on, so might be safe?
Wink

EBearhug · 08/06/2021 13:32

BIWI, even. Can't type...

Crowtooyo · 08/06/2021 13:35

Omg I did not know drifters were discontinued 😭 I used to love those! They used to stock them in the vending machine at my local leisure centre and I used to be allowed one as a treat occasionally after my swimming lessons!

cheeseismydownfall · 08/06/2021 13:38

@BIWI, I'm so glad someone else remembers - and the name Silk does ring a very distant bell.

I can't believe that there is no record of them anywhere online - I keep searching thinking that surely there must be, but no! It's like I honestly can't compute that something has evaded being logged by Google!

Tobebythesea · 08/06/2021 13:38
Gosh! I remember those!

Marble bar - so good!
