I Am So Middle aged.

I'm menopausal.
I can't dance properly anymore. I now "mum dance".
I'm thinking of doing a dance class to rectify this.🤦‍♀️
I eat kefir yoghurt every day.
I've told off teenagers (that I dont know), twice, so far this week.😬
I still love my skinny jeans.😳
It's Friday night and I am drinking gin and posting on Mnet.Gin

There is no denying it, I am a total and utter middle aged woman. And it's alright.😎

I'm not quite menopausal (42) but most definitely middle aged.

I've been drinking gin and absolutely only mum dance these days.

I told off teenagers yesterday.

In my wardrobe there are and will ever only be skinny jeans.

Fist bump

MadMadMadamMim · 17/04/2021 00:00

I refer to myself as middle aged.

Unless I live to 112 I'm probably counted as old now.

I couldn't ever dance. 😀

BornInAThunderstorm · 17/04/2021 00:06

Yep with you on this OP.

I saw some women around my age learning to roller skate on instagram and am now seriously tempted to take it up... is this the female equivalent of the man buying a sports car trope??

Yep, you know you're a woman in a midlife crisis, when your silliness involves strengthening your core muscles.Grin

I told off teenagers yesterday.

What had they done @Impatientwino? Was it littering related?

Crispina · 17/04/2021 00:30

Today I hung a yankee candle air freshener from my car rear view mirror and started a thread on mumsnet about jam.

DioneTheDiabolist · 17/04/2021 00:38

I like watching TV as it's being screened. I'm not a fan of Catch-Up telly. Adverts are god's way of telling me there's dishes or laundry to be done.

Is your middle age how you thought it would be? Mine isn't. And it is completely different to my mother's life at my age.

@DioneTheDiabolist swearing like a bunch of mumsnetters sailors in the park. Think showing off type loud swearing every other word for no reason. Fuck man, I'm going so fucking fast on this swing and after this I'm going to the fucking shop to get a fucking drink cos I'm fucking thirsty! Loads of little and primary kids around including mine as school just kicked out.

There's a giant field behind the park so told them that if they want to swear that was fine but go sit in the field away from small ears but if they want to play in the park then just be a bit respectful of the environment they're in and who is around them. They grumbled a bit but did quieten down and get on with their game.

As they left a bit later one of them turned and waved at me and shouted 'Bye Karen' in the most sarcastic voice.

It was incredibly difficult not to laugh but I did my best unimpressed scowl on behalf of us middle aged folk everywhere Grin

Impatientwino · 17/04/2021 06:48

I should mention that before I gave them a bit of a speech I had already tried 'Watch your language a bit guys please' but that didn't work!

Frownette · 17/04/2021 06:52

I set off in a knee high pair of camel suede boots yesterday, medium heel. I'd got half way down the road and did an about turn and went home and changed into my flat boots then set off again.

floraflo · 17/04/2021 07:27

This thread is brilliant! Joining the middle aged crew too...
I made a beef casserole in the slow cooker last night and drank obligatory g&t's.
I'm peri menopausal...nice (I'm 42)
We're going to the tip today.
The highlight of my day will be sitting in our lay z spa hot tub with a glass of Prosecco.
Told a man off in the Sainsbury's car park for dropping kfc wrappers out of his car window (and was secretly thrilled when even though he'd shouted back at me, he picked the litter up when he thought I was out of site).

SnugglySnerd · 17/04/2021 07:29

So am I. Last night I was disappointed that Gardeners World clashed with HIGNFY!

floraflo · 17/04/2021 07:30

Also it seems I can't spell which perhaps is a new symptom of middle age!

LadyWithLapdog · 17/04/2021 07:34

I’m so middle aged I don’t even drink any more as ‘it doesn’t agree with me’.

HeeHiHoHum · 17/04/2021 07:39

I was called middle aged by ds2 and have been forlornly googling when Middle Aged officially starts. Is there a formal threshold?

DinosaurDiana · 17/04/2021 07:41

Skinny jeans are the best, my legs don’t wobble when I wear them !!!
I don’t like gin so it’s Prosecco for me.
And I didn’t tell any teenagers off today, just had a row with my selfish ignorant neighbour instead 🤣

Balaur · 17/04/2021 07:43

Middle aged here too.
Peri menopausal
Obsessed with my garden/houseplants
Too interested in my lack of digestive transit
Accepted that I never want to wear heels again
Gin fan
Look at clothes and think "ooh those look comfy for gardening in"

It's all good.

SorryPardonWhat · 17/04/2021 07:51

Hello old chums.
I wear Uggs and crocs (having declared them both unbelievably ugly in my youth)
Listen to the Archers
Enjoy making quiche
Favourite magazine is now Woman and Home. No interest in Heat whatsoever. Don't know a soul in it.
Stopped taking the pill last week as I think it's now pointless
Am a happy 50.

LadyWithLapdog · 17/04/2021 07:58

Time to look for a nice pair of Birkenstocks.

AreyouthereGoditsme · 17/04/2021 08:00

I met a friend yesterday and sat in the sun on camping chairs in an empty carpark with a nice view for a picnic. We had blankets on our knees. I'm 40.

MissyB1 · 17/04/2021 08:00

@SnugglySnerd

So am I. Last night I was disappointed that Gardeners World clashed with HIGNFY!
Oh God me too! I was actually grumbling about it all evening! Grin

And most of my TV viewing now consists of cookery/baking/gardening/diy programs.

MissyB1 · 17/04/2021 08:02

I must add though that at the age of 52 I’m leaving skinny jeans behind and going back to bootcut. Mainly for comfort!
