What is the most beautiful surname you have heard?

I've been researching my family tree and there are a lot of surnames, mostly usual Irish, Scottish but some interesting ones and it got me thinking about surnames in general.

I always thought Italian surnames are very beautiful, Baccino, Santangelli.

I love ones that are simple such as Flower, Beach and Ocean too.

So, what's the most beautiful one you have ever heard?

Merryweather. If I ever have to change identity to flee from something life threatening (not likely in Exeter) I shall become Loveday Merryweather.

I remember a boy at school with Italian parents, surnamed d'Ambrosio. I thought that was fantastic.

Some lovely surnames on the 'help me choose my new surname' thread.

I know a Frizzle which I think is a cute name

May well have been then, he did teach RS (amongst other things). School in Nottingham.

Fox
My first boyfriend’s name. It was completely right that the relationship didn’t last but I have never stopped wishing that was my surname

@cerealgamechanger, you might have the same GP as DM.

Drinkwater. I see lorries in my area with this on; they are farmers and wholesalers of mushrooms. Drinkwater's Quality Mushrooms. Love it!
I knew a Merrilees family, which is very jolly. I like names with food in them for some reason, like Butterworth. Also enjoy nominative determinism.

BearSoFair · 03/04/2021 14:25

Branchflower. I always think it would be lovely to use in a book.

Worst? I swear this is true - we had a Mr Brownjobs as a customer. confused

There was a man who worked at our local authority by the name of Graham Shatwell. Yes really.

I've had a colleague whose last name was Honeyball. My Grandad had a friend who's last name was Honeybell.

I've come across the last names Snowgoose and Snowball.

WiganNorthWest · 03/04/2021 14:33

Girl at school was Heidi Loveland. Also love the name Mr Wright

Snooper22 · 03/04/2021 14:35

I know someone with surname Friendship, they always get commented on saying its a nice name. I have an Italian sounding surname, tbf its a nice unique name but I've spent my life having to spell it out to everyone.

Goldenphoenix · 03/04/2021 14:35

Knew a nice guy whose surname was Falconbridge. Such a cool name!

PhoenixandtheRug · 03/04/2021 14:36

There used to be a woman on tv called Anji Ekaette- she was the hostess in the old TV show Wheel of Fortune - and I always thought her surname sounded so beautiful. Still do.

There are 2 Rainbirds in my organisation- brothers.

I used to listen to Radio Caroline and they had an American DJ called Charlie Wolf... I always fancied being a Wolf.... such a cool name.

Regresstoprogress · 03/04/2021 14:38

My mum's maiden name is Easterfield which I've always loved.
I also know a teacher called Miss Honeybun- definite Matilda vibes!
