Because I had to write it down today but I was too embarrassed to ask him to clarify the spelling 🙈.

@PuzzleMonkeyMum

I know, it makes absolutely no sense at all. But people are weird when it comes to names, I used to go to school with a girl names Francis. Where I am from, we pronounce it Fran (to rhyme with pan)-cis but her mother INSISTED it was pronounced Frarn (to rhyme with barn)-cis even though in our (very working class, midlands) accents sounded absolutely ridiculous.

He didn't have any strong accent, like Welsh or Scottish. Pretty much the same accent as me.

And I have messaged Rowan/Ryan with a W to ask about a quote and he can't fit me in till the end of May anyway!

Her mother was absolutely correct... 😂

I would say Ryan, Ryuun with a double U

NWojtanowski · 03/04/2021 02:56

Wryan is the only sensible(if you call that sensible) way I can think to spell it...kind of like the word, “wren”.

NWojtanowski · 03/04/2021 03:00

Or “Rwan” but I don’t think that would sound the same as “Ryan with a “W”” which is what you said he said do I think...maybe, I’m possibly wanting to stick with my first response of Wryan. Hope we find out what he meant one day. ☺️

NWojtanowski · 03/04/2021 03:06

That’s Crazy!! Not only is it a boys name...but it’s also a girls name too! I guess you learn something new everyday! 😆 I want a kitty or something so I can then name it “Wryan”.

Lockdownbear · 03/04/2021 08:27

I wouldn't think Ryan would be used for a girl. I could see Rowan being used for either but not Ryan.

Butwasitherdriveway · 03/04/2021 10:19

I've always liked Ryan for a girl 🤭

I don't get the point of this thread....

"Ryan with a W surname"

Means that the surname starts with a a W surely?!

🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Soubriquet · 04/04/2021 07:00

If you read the thread you would see that the person spells his name Rowan but pronounces it as Ryan

Tereseta · 04/04/2021 07:02

Are you in Bath? Would it be this Ryan Smith?
