Because I had to write it down today but I was too embarrassed to ask him to clarify the spelling 🙈.

I agree with a pp that he likely said Euan meaning Ewan.

@PuzzleMonkeyMum

I’ve just had a look on Facebook and I can’t find anyone with that spelling. Basically I asked for a recommendation, the person recommended ‘Ryan with a W’ surname and said their business was on Facebook. I didn’t have any phone signal to search Facebook there and then and I was also very confused about the spelling so said I would have a look later! I thought it night be Rywn, maybe a Welsh spelling? But I’ve googled and that’s not a word or name!
Did they mean their surname begins with W... as in Ryan with a 'w' surname?
Triphazards · 30/03/2021 15:42

Is it spelt with any other letters as well or just the W?

MsFogi · 30/03/2021 15:44

Are you sure they weren't taking the mickey OP? "Dave with a y/Kathryn with an m etc".

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 30/03/2021 15:45

I'm with @Candean - his name's Ryan and his surname starts with W. You've misunderstood.

Bbq1 · 30/03/2021 15:47

Wian

gottakeeponmovin · 30/03/2021 15:48

Well you can spell Brian Bryan so why not Wryan?

MenaiMna · 30/03/2021 15:50

Tons of Wryans from a quick FB search. Mostly in USA though. So apparently as a PP cited from a baby name site, it's a real thing.

PuzzleMonkeyMum · 30/03/2021 15:51

No he 100% said that’s Ryan spelt with a W.

Wrynne? An Irish surname perhaps

2bazookas · 30/03/2021 15:53

I'd think they meant Rowan.

BriocheForBreakfast · 30/03/2021 15:53

Wryan

Arbadacarba · 30/03/2021 15:55

Rwryan?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/03/2021 15:55

Rywan?

BriocheForBreakfast · 30/03/2021 15:55

I bet this is a PITA for 'Wryan' as he'll have to spell his name all the time.

Frownette · 30/03/2021 15:55

Unless they spelt it out I'd just go back to sleep.

Can you text and ask?

DrumAndMonkey · 30/03/2021 15:56

Wryan is a name!!

Dahlietta · 30/03/2021 15:57

But if you Google Wryan, there are loads of examples. It’s a first name and a surname.

BreatheAndFocus · 30/03/2021 15:57

Rowan not Ryan maybe?

WovenFish · 30/03/2021 15:57

Can you message the person who recommended Wryan/Rywan/Ryawn to you and ask for the spelling?

Kokeshi123 · 30/03/2021 15:58

I think W spells a vowel sound in Welsh, right? Is there a Welsh equivalent to Ryan or something---like, an original Welsh form that got Anglicised later on? (Rwryan or something.... grasping at straws here)...

SageRosemary · 30/03/2021 16:00

Also suggesting Wrynne as a PP suggested - as it is a surname

LadyCatStark · 30/03/2021 16:00

Wryan

PuzzleMonkeyMum · 30/03/2021 16:01

I can’t text, I haven’t got the persons number or I would.
Basically I had an appointment today for something to do with my degree. During the course of the 15 minute appointment, I was kind of making conversation as I was gathering my stuff and mentioned that I’m looking for someone to come and give me a quote for something but I’m struggling due to people not turning up. And he said oh I have just the person, he’s on Facebook if you want to look for him his name is Ryan Smith (not his surname) but Ryan is spelt with a W, he’ll give you a good price, we have Ryan to come and do all our stuff for us.

And I kind of hesitated and said oh I’ll have a look tonight, I haven’t got any signal and he laughed and said yeah this building is made out of lead, but be sure to look Ryan up on Facebook and tell him I recommend him.

@PuzzleMonkeyMum have you tried searching Wryan then, like most are suggesting?
