Food you love but can't get any more

Let me lead with the Waitrose pecorino and back dip. They've discontinued it and I have no idea why. I have been whingeing about it for two years now why would you discontinue such a popular product ?

I am just hoping the pork and iberico chorizo sausage rolls, also from waitrose, don't go the same way. It's been ages since I've seen them on the shelves.

Not only is it lockdown with nowt eke to think about but for, but I'm on a calorie controlled diet atm trying to get back in my dinner clothes before the weather warns up! All I can think about is eating.

What foods do you miss? Have they been discontinued? Can you only get them in a location you can't access? Are you trying to lose the lockdown lbs? Please make me feel better about being an obsessive foodie by joining me!

About ten years ago Tesco did an amazing mushroom patè. Alas, it is no more

eatsleepread · 28/03/2021 08:05

There's a crisps company called Burt's, and several years ago they did pesto flavoured crisps. They came in big sharing bags and were totally delicious.
They are no more Sad

Sara Lee Pecan Danish...

DinosaurDiana · 28/03/2021 08:33

Years ago Sainsbury’s used to do a fresh pasta sauce that was packed with fresh chicken. It made a really nice meal. But it’s gone.

butterpuffed · 28/03/2021 08:39

Burton's Potato Puffs , a sort of crisp. They were luvverly, was quite annoyed when they were discontinued !

DinosaurDiana · 28/03/2021 08:41

Jacobs Cracker Crisps in sweet chilli, they were gorgeous.
You can still get them in other yuck flavours.
Why do they do this, stop really nice, popular products ?

Sarcobaleno · 28/03/2021 08:42

Yes. Sara Lee Pecan Danish. I still sometimes look for it just in case they've brought it back.

bellagogosdead · 28/03/2021 08:46

Tesco frozen fake bacon and hotdogs, I am always checking but they have just gone. Sad
Also Waitrose aubergine pate, was so gorgeous and massively unhealthy.

Camandmitch · 28/03/2021 08:46

M&S use to sell a ready meal broccoli, chicken pie with a mash topping. I'd always have one in the freezer for a lazy dinner. They were nice.

greyspottedgoose · 28/03/2021 08:48

Sainsburys used to do a pea and mint fresh pasta that was amazing, never seen anything similar in any other supermarket

AvengingGerbil · 28/03/2021 08:49

Waaaay back when Haagen Dazs was new, they did a vanilla ice cream with swirls of peanut butter in it. I still fantasise about it. (Peanut butter ice cream, by contrast, is vile.)

PersonaNonGarter · 28/03/2021 08:53

A moment’s silence for M&S’s original recipe for tzaziki dip with dill and mint. It was amazing.

Heinz baked bean pizza Blush

Coniferhedge · 28/03/2021 08:55

At this time of year, Toffee & Mallow eggs. They were like Creme Eggs, but one half was filled with caramel, the other with marshmallow. I absolutely loved them but not seen them for years.

MapGirlExtraordinaire · 28/03/2021 08:56

Waitrose (or maybe sainsburys) did a lovely Vietnamese pea soup, I haven't seen it in about a year Sad

On a slightly different note I remember tangerine angel delight from my childhood and that's been gone decades. It was delicious, much better than any others. Bring it back!

AmandaHoldensLips · 28/03/2021 08:57

Nestlé tinned sterilised cream. Mmmmm.

HastingsIsSuckingDiesel · 28/03/2021 08:58

Like @bellagogosdead I miss the Waitrose aubergine dip/ pate/ baba ganoush thing. It was absolutely delicious!

00deed1988 · 28/03/2021 09:00

Mars Delights! They were amazing!

Blingismything · 28/03/2021 09:00

Nestle tinned cream is available in Morrisons. I almost bought a tin last week.

Pronounciata · 28/03/2021 09:01

Waitrose edamame, coconut and chilli soup. I can never make mine taste the same.
Pukka ginger latte
Sacla changed the recipe for their aubergine pesto and now it's not nice.

Hideoushedgehog · 28/03/2021 09:02

Texan bars

And way back in the 70s (showing my age here) Sainsbury's used to do this wonderful individually boxed blackcurrant pastry, with flaky pastry , which managed to be very tart and authentic despite being a bought product sprinkled with pearl sugar!

You've reminded me of one called Almond Butter Crunch. About 25 years ago there was a shop in Covent Garden and I always used to get that there.
paintedpanda · 28/03/2021 09:07

Asda used to do marshmallow whoopie pies in their bakery aisle but they've been gone years. I tried to make my own but it was never the same.
Also, chicken tonight creamy curry. Reminds me of dinner at grandmas house.

SlipperTripper · 28/03/2021 09:09

Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia.

They still do the back to front skinny version, which is chocolate ice cream with cherry swirls I think. Which was massively disappointing when I didn't read the box and was expecting cherry ice cream with choc chunks
