Hidden phone

Possible reasons for my ex (who I unfortunately still have to live with) to be hiding a phone in my car?

The obvious one would be to track the car's movements.

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 20:15

That's what I was thinking. Any idea how I can check/find out?

Smash the phone to bits and leave it on his pillow.

murbblurb · 02/02/2021 20:18

or just turn it off??

Wishitsnows · 02/02/2021 20:19

Chuck it in a bin

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 20:19

I tried to turn it off. He's set it so you need a pin code to be able to do so.

Gaffer tape it to a bin truck..

Emptytank · 02/02/2021 20:21

Put in in your outside on bin day

justthecat · 02/02/2021 20:21

Destroy it and never admit to knowing about it. Then make sure he has no further access to your car

BeautifulStar · 02/02/2021 20:22

Gaffer tape it to a bin truck..

Yes, do this!!

WouldstrokeTomHardy · 02/02/2021 20:23

I think that's against the law to track you. Hand it in to the police and tell them

londongirl12 · 02/02/2021 20:24

Does he have a history of weird things like this? Can you make sure he doesn't have access to your car? I'd not say anything and put it in a random bin. Can you move out?

PQWQ · 02/02/2021 20:27

Either tracking or recording voices.

DavidsSchitt · 02/02/2021 20:28

Tie it to a neighbours cat 🐈

iMatter · 02/02/2021 20:30

Stick it in the nearest bin

Ch3rish · 02/02/2021 20:31

Wait until the battery runs out and leave it somewhere random

missrm · 02/02/2021 20:34

To track or record conversations. Get it launched into a pond! Can you get out the house or get him out?

CisMyArse · 02/02/2021 20:35

He must have a key or regular access to your car to keep charging it?

cheeseybean · 02/02/2021 20:38

Police!

icelollycraving · 02/02/2021 20:39

Do you share a car?
How long do you anticipate having to live together?
He’s tracking you and or recording you.
Depending on how I felt, I’d either let him hear what I wanted him to hear or keep the phone somewhere else. Don’t do anything that puts you at any risk in the interim. Can you tell someone close to you what’s going on? (Not in ear shot of any devices).

Lucked · 02/02/2021 20:41

Where did he hide it?

KirstenBlest · 02/02/2021 20:42

Wrap it in some foil.

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 20:42

Car is in both of our names but he has another car if his own. I'm the only one who uses this one but he does still have access.
I'm actually going to talk to the police tomorrow (was advised to do so over the phone today) about him recording me on his phone in the house. So will bring up this phone in the car too.
We're not in the UK but I think pretty similar laws would be in place.
Unfortunately, I can't afford to keep paying the mortgage and live elsewhere. He won't leave. Have to wait til our house sells.

mummabubs · 02/02/2021 20:44

When you next take the car out alone maybe leave it somewhere public or as others have said, it can go for a ride in the bin lorry! It all sounds rather unnerving though OP, well done for bringing it up with the police.

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 20:48

Would foil work?
I'm planning on going to the police station after dropping children at daycare but don't want him to know where I am but do want to take the phone. Any bright ideas how to do this? I'd like to see if the police can/will check it out but for my own safety and that of the children really don't want him knowing where I've been.
Seeing as I currently only go to the local supermarket, work (5 mins away) and daycare a trip into the town centre would tip him off if he's tracking me.
