What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

I had to drive to next to pick up a click and collect parcel. It was raining and there was a queue but I really enjoyed it.

My kids were called in for their missed dental checkup on Tuesday. We joked it was like a school trip. There was much cheering and we got McDonald's on the way home.

I get my Tesco shop delivered in tray liners, I then take these to be recycled, I was going to go to Sainsburys today to put them in the recycling bin, but DH has a flu jab (as we speak) so I have moved that job to tomorrow. 🤣😂🤪

Not this lockdown, but lockdown#1, I had stayed in (except for dog walking in the dark) for over 3 weeks as I had suffered mild pneumonia in January.
I finally ‘broke out’ for food one gloriously sunny afternoon.. Oh the joy I felt!!
I was so busy gazing at the newly-green trees in the spring sunshine, and enjoying the pure blue of the sky, that I wasn’t looking where I was going...
Fell off the kerb into the path of THE ONLY BLOODY CAR FOR MILES!!
The driver had to swerve to miss me, and hurled a load of (deserved) abuse at me....
I didn’t care... I was high on my new ‘freedom’😂
I still think fondly of that afternoon during yet another lockdown...

The old washing machine finally died on tues evening when the belt broke after much loud knocking from the bearings over the past week. Ordered it wed morn and it arrived first thing today. Deliver guys were here at the beginning of their 4 hr time slot and it took all of 20 seconds to drop the new one off and take the old one away. The drum is twice as big and we've just been stood next to it whilst its on a spin cycle and not having to shout over the bloody racket like the last one.

Oh the excitement of a new washing machine.

pawivy · 14/01/2021 16:32

We get a milk delivery but left at end of valley five miles away. Every week the highlight of my week was driving to collect the milk and back. I hated it if som one else got it, it was the only way I knew which day it was!

ParkheadParadise · 14/01/2021 16:38

I found a 5 pack of Toffee Crisps in the kitchen cupboard today. Homeschooling isn't too bad when you can shove chocolate in your mouth without dd noticing.😂😂🍫🍫

I went for a lateral flow test last weekend. Imagine my excitement when they said that they recommended everyone should come back every 7 days.

Bakedbeanhead · 14/01/2021 16:46

Well today I went food shopping this morning and then my dad asked me to pick him up from the garage this afternoon as his car needs to be kept in overnight, ooh the excitement of two trips in a day.

He needs dropping back down tomorrow afternoon, DH wants to go this time, he might even take the long route. The excitement never ends in our house

LadyCatStark · 14/01/2021 16:48

On Saturday we had a walk along the canal then we went to the butcher and baker and bought steaks and cakes (we didn’t deliberately but rhyming food!), honestly, it felt like a proper day out 😂.

There were tree surgeons working outside the house last week (I’m home with 3yo DD). That was a brilliant morning’s entertainment. At some point they looked over and saw me, DH and DD all standing at the window, both adults holding a coffee.

EventOfTheSeason · 14/01/2021 16:56

During the last lockdown we bought a fruit/veg box from a local shop. When it came we all gathered round and unpacked it like christmas. We ordered another one last week and even though it was the same stuff, we sat around and opened it like it was christmas.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/01/2021 17:05

DH took the piss out of me earlier when I pointed out the bin lorry on the road behind us. It was more the surprise of it making it in the snow, but he insists it was the highlight of my day.

I've spent the afternoon digging stuck cats out of snow. That is a lot more exciting.

Purplecatshopaholic · 14/01/2021 17:13

@Aroundtheworldin80moves, I hope you mean cars...? If not, tell us more!

micc · 14/01/2021 17:18

I went to go pick up new glasses and sunglasses from specsavers.. dont know when I'm going to be wearing those sunglasses!! But yeah that was 4 days ago and I haven't left my flat since so that's fun.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/01/2021 17:28

CARS. I spent the afternoon digging out stuck cars. We live on a steepish hill that doesn't get gritted...

TheCanyon · 14/01/2021 17:37

The bin lorry came twice yesterday (they missed the recycling last week due to the snow) so got TWO outings/chats with neighbours.

Also went to a&e the other night and was utterly thrilled by the completely dead roads the whole way.

QueenPawPaws · 14/01/2021 17:38

Shielding... I see nobody! I got to drive to the hospital (70 mile round trip) AND they had an M&S food shop nobody was in. So I got to choose some of my own food
And then I went to McDonald's on the way back. Bliss

dannydyerismydad · 14/01/2021 18:39

Bin day is still confusing and not back into regular patterns since Christmas. That's exciting working out when it's bin day.

YesPleaseMary · 14/01/2021 19:04

I went to Lidl yesterday and filled my trolley full of food before I allowed myself to trundle down the middle aisle. It was full of crap I don’t need but god it was nice to look at food processors, big socks, travel cots and bamboo chopping boards.

SomewhatBored · 14/01/2021 19:12

I'm looking forward to taking my cat for his vaccinations next Thursday.

Timeforabiscuit · 14/01/2021 19:18

I actively prepare for rubbish and recycling pick up days,

I am usually the one in pyjamas, running up the road muttering fucks sake not very quietly Grin
