What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

@EssentialHummus

There were tree surgeons working outside the house last week (I’m home with 3yo DD). That was a brilliant morning’s entertainment. At some point they looked over and saw me, DH and DD all standing at the window, both adults holding a coffee.
I roared laughing at this, I slept and slept today for some reason, woke at 1.30 (which is a win in its self) I was disappointed when I realised I had missed the bin men. Grin

We get a fortnightly veg box delivery; it has 7 'standard' items and 5 random seasonal items. Therefore Veg Box Day is thrilling, my mum even rings me to find out what we got!

Tomorrow I need to collect a click & collect parcel. I am spending waaaay longer than I should deliberating over whether to incorporate the parcel collecting into a long-ish run, or go on a shorter run separately and pop down in the car later on.

I have started a campaign of selling outgrown toys on eBay. So most days I can feed my new obsession by watching the auctions - new watchers, new bids? This is a really sad new hobby but yes, I'm currently quite the eBay nerd.

And I can convince myself that it's not a symptom of how much my life has shrunk, because I'm making some money...

Love this thread!

mogloveseggs · 14/01/2021 22:32

Click and collect from IKEA last week. Furthest I've driven for months. Really enjoyed it.

cakewitch · 14/01/2021 22:34

I cleaned the grout between the kitchen floor tiles! The realisation that its real colour is grey and not black has cheered me up for the last 3 days. Small things, eh?

chillied · 14/01/2021 22:35

@beela

I went for a lateral flow test last weekend. Imagine my excitement when they said that they recommended everyone should come back every 7 days.
Even more thrilling, apparently the guidance recommends every 3 days!
maturinsslothe · 14/01/2021 22:36

My shower is not draining properly and I've been looking forward to the weekend al week, as I decided to "save" that job to give me something exciting to do on Saturday. Rock and roll.

Lwg87 · 14/01/2021 22:38

I was ridiculously excited to go to my colorectal specialist appointment on Tuesday. A full morning off homeschooling and a finger up the bum before 10am. And a trip to a big Sainsburys on the way home 😂

lissie123 · 14/01/2021 22:41

This thread has made me cry with laughter. It’s added a new dimension to my pitifully empty social life. My greatest excitement at the moment to boring wfh is I have started dressing up in casual evening wear for team calls plus full make up cos god knows when I’m ever going to wear that sparkly top/ dress.

wishthiswasreallife · 14/01/2021 22:41

This thread has completely cheered me up!

Bananacocks · 14/01/2021 22:42

My kids argued over who got to go to the tip with DH, they weren't even allowed to get out!

Borris · 14/01/2021 22:43

I was disappointed when my blood donation session was cancelled

AriesTheRam · 14/01/2021 22:45

Seeing a family with 3 husky type dogs.2 of the dogs were pulling the dad along in a sledge.

Tigresswoods · 14/01/2021 22:45

Next week we get to give the cat her monthly flea tablet. It's literally the only thing on the calendar in January.

tinkerbellvspredator · 14/01/2021 22:53

DD has got an eye test tomorrow. I stupidly booked it during my working hours so DH gets to take her Envy

LaMarschallin · 14/01/2021 22:53

One of my fillings fell out on Tuesday and, despite the fact I'm not in pain , I've got an appointment with the dentist on Monday Smile

And that's not even the exciting bit!

I'm not driving at the moment (boring medical reason) so DH drives us to the shops.
I'm the one who goes in because he's older and has a couple of risk factors. Also, I've had covid and had two positive antibody tests after it. I know I can still catch it, transmit it and probably have no antibodies now and obviously I still follow all the distance and mask rules, but it all weights the decision that it's probably safer for me than DH.*

So, I dash in, shop as quickly as possible, mindful of poor old DH waiting (and freezing these past few weeks) in the car.

But on Monday he's going to drop me off at the dentist and I'll ring him to collect me!

So - post-filling - I'm going to go to the Big Supermarket (we go to the smaller one usually as it's quieter and quicker) and buy the week's shopping and Marigold Bouillon powder and Camp Coffee Essence. And anything else that catches my eye.
So looking forward to it.

*Sorry, boring bit there but with luck it'll preempt people explaining things I already know.

OddshoesOddsocks · 14/01/2021 22:55

I’ve got the hygienist tomorrow and I’ve been thinking about my outfit since I booked it! 20 minutes, laid down, child free... practically a spa day!

UnrulyJulie · 14/01/2021 22:56

We finally got a cross trainer on Monday after weeks of trying to find one. SIL gave us hers when DH mentioned it to her as she was using it as a clothes hanger and it’s a top of the range one!

Felt like a kid at Christmas Grin when we moved the furniture around in the lounge so I can use it while watching TV. I can now put my lycra and headphones on, sweat buckets and pretend I’m at the gym.

I’ve also just started HRT patches, after trying to get a telephone appointment with my GP for ages as I was given pills instead of patches which would have interfered with my thyroid medication, and will hopefully be feeling about 10 years younger in a few weeksShock.

Exciting times!

Spanielmadness · 14/01/2021 22:56

My DP and I had a conversation about a new bench that had been installed in the park........

it’s a running joke now that every Tuesday evening we say to each other “ooh! Bin day tomorrow!”

God! Life is soooooooo dull...........

grassisjeweled · 14/01/2021 22:59

Neighbours have the plumbers in.

Mad woman living opposite seems to have her mother there, she occasionally comes outside and sweeps (??) in her dressing gown.

I'm planning a food inventory for next week... Let the excitement build for a while....

grassisjeweled · 14/01/2021 23:00

Don't tell anyone, but I'm ridiculously excited because DH has a new job and had to leave the house in Monday. He hasn't been out really since March

Confused
IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 14/01/2021 23:01

DH and I were going to the carpet shop the other day; we roared laughing when we saw that we'd both dressed as if we were going to a wedding. We got so carried away with actually going outside!

Plastictattoo · 14/01/2021 23:01

This thread was just what I needed after a low day. I’ve washed the cushion covers today and spent the evening covertly cushion cover sniffing while DH watched the football.
