What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

@Lwg87

I was ridiculously excited to go to my colorectal specialist appointment on Tuesday. A full morning off homeschooling and a finger up the bum before 10am. And a trip to a big Sainsburys on the way home 😂
I've got nothing that can rival that Grin

During the last 2 lockdowns work was completely, painfully insane. This time round it's much more bearable so I'm getting time to knit on my lunchbreak!

Also, we've been putting cat food out in the garden every night and something has been eating it. It's either a fox, a neighbourhood cat, or rats. Exciting times!

LaMarschallin · 14/01/2021 23:02

Ooh!

And our hot water vanished because of problems with the boiler, and it took a week to sort out but it wasn't too bad because at least we got to talk to someone different from each other on three separate occasions!
And...
The water is now hotter than before and taking everything out of the airing cupboard forced me into tidying it out (like I've been meaning to for mumblety years).
I'm still at the stage of opening the door at random times and beaming at all the beautifully assorted linen.

And sometimes when I do that, I pretend I'm Meg in "Little Women".

I was a bit of a thrill seeker yesterday as well. I went to Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Home Bargains in the SAME AFTERNOON. I know Home Bargains as well was pushing it into recklessness but I desperately needed baking paper and I wasn’t paying £2.75 when I could pay 95p.

I was proper bushed when I got home Grin.

Most wholesome thread in a good while! Definitely going to the alottment here - never has winter digging been so much fun.

OddshoesOddsocks

I’ve got the hygienist tomorrow and I’ve been thinking about my outfit since I booked it! 20 minutes, laid down, child free... practically a spa day!

Smile

This thread is even making me look at my smear test tomorrow in a slightly more positive light.

Purplekitchen · 14/01/2021 23:19

We've got a slot booked to go to the tip tomorrow. First time out of the house for about 2 weeks, can't wait!

bellissimiaow · 14/01/2021 23:21

I actually had a smear test at 8am last Monday, first day back after the Christmas break. The nurse was really chirpy and smiley, it was very quiet as there was only one other person there, and even the receptionist seemed happy. Quite enjoyed myself.

SuperSange · 14/01/2021 23:32

I had a contact lens fitting appointment yesterday, a 20 min drive away. Sadly, my prescription wasn't in stock, so they'll text when they're in store and I need to go and pick them up. Bummer.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 14/01/2021 23:54

Tomorrow I'm going on my treadmill.

50 feet from my house, it's like a day trip in itself.

marriednotdead · 14/01/2021 23:54

I got a foxy new cooker last week which has had me revved up for weeks in anticipation.
Better still, it’s got an induction hob so I’ve had to replace all my pots and pans. Crispy roast potatoes that didn’t take 90 minutes had me doing a happy dance and I keep opening the cupboard and smiling at the new pots.
Got to figure out how to bake a cake without burning it now but I’ve ordered a cooking thermometer and will be experimenting and taking notes of timings Smile

Bloodybridget · 15/01/2021 00:53

Having tried twice to get a new frying pan from Sainsbury's, we finally accepted they were only pretending to stock them, so I ordered one from Lakeland yesterday - AND a butter dish (also unobtainable from Sainsbury's) and some face masks! Can't wait to fry something in the new pan!
Sainsbury's did have the set of three chopping boards!

Peanutbutterblood · 15/01/2021 07:00

I have an accounting exam to drive into the city for next week, it's a 20min drive, I cant think when I last went into the city, I'm imagining it will be like an apocalypse film but with mcdonalds still open 😂 Im so excited although maybe the nerves for my exam are just sending me crazy

LouLou198 · 15/01/2021 07:56

I've recently converted my spare room into an office to wfh. I've got some box files arriving from Amazon today and I can't wait to organise my paperwork.
Went to do the weekly food shop last night and treated myself to a new pack of pens too!

Mol1628 · 15/01/2021 08:05

My husband is 14 weeks post vasectomy and has to drop off his sample today at the clinic to get it tested. But he’s working so I said I would take it for him!
So yep. That’s my drive out today. Might get dressed up, put on a bit of perfume etc. Grin

ApolloandDaphne · 15/01/2021 08:17

My DH went for a run yesterday evening. When he was away I wandered around the empty house singing really, really loudly. I even made up a song about being alone and able to be loud at last! He had no idea why I was so chirpy when he got back. I am going to encourage him to keep up the running! Roll on the day he can go back to the office.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/01/2021 08:18

The children and I have a trip planned for this afternoon. Dh motorbike is due a MOT, so we get to drive to the garage to pick him up. And tomorrow, we get to go again!

lightand · 15/01/2021 08:22

Had to help a pregnant lady move house.
Great to see how the other half, of drivers who are on the roads day in, day out, live.

funnyoldonion · 15/01/2021 08:28

@ApolloandDaphne I love the sound of your song! I want to make one but I fear I may never get the chance now! I 'practised' putting my fresh flowers on the table as due to my kitten I have to have them high up but even in my few seconds fantasy he jumped up onto the table ready for terrorism Angry

I'm another one who had a pleasant smear test this week, I was soooo chatty, the nurse was lovely, I couldn't decide whether I was nervous or socially starved, probably both! Also, my postman arriving is very excited these days!

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 15/01/2021 08:45

@OddshoesOddsocks I have had to cancel my hygienist appointment as DC has been told to self-isolate because of a close contact. Gutted doesn't begin to cover it Sad

Missushbb · 15/01/2021 08:50

Not an outing but I've spent time looking at Le Creuset mugs, online, deliberating which one to buy if any. Still not decided. Imagining myself drinking from it whilst WFH has cheered me up in itself.

Missushbb · 15/01/2021 08:51

Starbucks drive thru was thrilling actually, looked forward to it all week. And sat in the car and drank it in peace abs quiet!!

YukoandHiro · 15/01/2021 08:51

I was pleased to take my baby for her 3 month jabs. The whole affair took TWO HOURS. Out of the house. Wonderful.

adjsavedmylife · 15/01/2021 08:53

Childminder drop off absolutely the highlight of my day. Through the deserted retail park we go, skirting Asda and along the A road full of HGVs and semi deserted buses, taking in the scents of the aggregate place if we’re lucky.

On the way back I listen to music or a podcast and for 17 minutes the day is full of potential and I’m free, free as a bird I tell you!

MrsBobBlackadder · 15/01/2021 08:54

I have an exciting day planned

First I need to call the vet to arrange a cat MoT, and then at lunchtime I have to go to the bank! Today is going to FLY by...

lucysmam · 15/01/2021 08:56

Grin I'm reading this thread while dd1 is making her breakfast, waiting for the rest of her class to join their online lesson.

She gets to use the new butter, for her bagel, first. Dd2 has pulled a grumpy face about it & wanted to do it herself. That's about as exciting as today will get!
