What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

Today's boring shit - I applied to transfer my old work pension into my SIPP last August and the cash has just landed. I can't touch it til I'm ancient but I can now at least see it (previous pension administrator sent one statement a year and normally 6 months out of date if you were lucky). Now I can watch the vagaries of the stockmarket daily and plan my long distant retirement!

Last Saturday I went to the opticians in TOWN!!

Today I went to the dentist with DD and was out a whole hour. Tomorrow back to town for my new glasses. Woohoo I'm running wild here

KeepSmiling89 · 10/02/2021 11:58

wishywashywoowoo70 I was at the opticians last Saturday too! Going back this Saturday to try new glasses and pick up new contact lenses!

Ordered new underwear from M&S this morning too. Just plain stuff...how exhilarating!

I went for my Covid vaccination today, which meant travelling a whole ten miles. And then I returned by a slightly different route. If that wasn't enough excitement for one day, I stopped off at the petrol station, bought some essential groceries and two custard tarts .

Steady on, two? 😱

Brilliant that you’ve had your jab.

ConeHat · 10/02/2021 22:47

About twice in this lockdown in this lockdown me and dh go late shopping together. After 7-8pm when it's very quite. Costco once and Asda. Seriously scarily enjoyed it.

We are possibly worthy of being burnt at the stake for it, but we normally do weekly click and collect. But sometimes we want to look at real life food.

It's sad but I really enjoyed it

I went to the tip to take the rotten fence panels.

Most exciting thing I've done in weeks, dismantling that fence.

We went through the car wash today.

My kids were more excited than when I took them to Disneyland Grin

WriteHon · 10/02/2021 23:42

Denisethemenace

I was forced to buy two because the box holds a pair of them.

(It turned out I needed a bit of a treat - exactly nine hours later I developed flu symptoms. Serves me right for my blasé attitude, I 'spect.)

grassisjeweled · 11/02/2021 02:08

Booked the kids in for haircuts (rubs thighs), hairdresser finally opened

The mall near us is open! Shock went in h and m, everything is on sale. Dollar store back open too, the joys of cheap Valentines cards.

Yes, haha. It wouldn't have made any sense at all
lightlypoached · 16/02/2021 05:44

@WriteHon I hope you haven't got the covid.

I've been knitting. Lots and lots of knitting. Every time I finish a bit I get excited and show everyone in the house. Even they are bored of it now Grin

WriteHon · 16/02/2021 14:36

Thanks, lightly poached, for your concern. No covid - just the feeling of being poleaxed by 'pseudo-flu', apparently a common reaction to the A.Z. vaccine that you are well warned about. It won't prevent me having the second vaccine.

sueelleker · 16/02/2021 16:27

@WriteHon; it knocked my DH flat for about a week, but all I got was a bit of a sore arm. But the regular flu jab never affected me either.
I've just ordered a small recycling bin from Lakeland. I've got sick of the swing-top bin I've been using for years.www.lakeland.co.uk/46321/Rotho-Albula-Recycling-Waste-Bin-Slate-Grey-25L

TeaAddict235 · 16/02/2021 17:17

Opening up a new bottle of shampoo and conditioner. Oh joy!

PuttingOnMyParts · 16/02/2021 21:58

A large slug on the inside of our front door - DH took a photo and when enlarged it had a really pretty pattern on its back. Do I win? Grin

User2941 · 16/02/2021 23:14

My flat hallway corridors were painted today!! I almost stood there to get high on the fumes Grin.

Cakeonthefloor · 16/02/2021 23:20

I got new flea treatment for my from the vet. I had to stand in the rain for a long time. It was the highlight of my week.

GuyFawkesDay · 16/02/2021 23:26

In the enthralling sequel to my previous post, I have now painted the remaining fences.

Half term thrillseeker that I am, I went to HOMEBASE and bought some.

And I got a couple of hours outside, without the kids. Wins all round.

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/02/2021 23:34

The wheelie bins (normal waste) haven’t been emptied from last week yet, so are still out. And tomorrow the recycle bins go out. So basically my whole estate is bin-tastic with the bloomin things everywhere - and it’s really windy too so they might end up all over the place overnight. Whew - need a lie down with all this excitement..

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 16/02/2021 23:36

Only excitement is awaiting the day I can finally get my first Covid vaccination jab. I am not vulnerable or too health privileged but will put my name down on any stand by reserve list in case of no show anti vaxxers and prevent wastage and hopefully get life saving protection. Other than that a holiday but I guess will need said vaccination for a passport to fly when finally permitted. Not prepared to pay silly over the odds UK staycation hotel booking prices as much prefer cheaper Maldives instead of UK.
