What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

I got dressed up to go to the supermarket and collect a take away.

That was bliss. If you saw an over-dressed 45 your old woman waltzing around Sainsbury’s on Sunday, that was me Grin

Hoppinggreen · 15/01/2021 09:07

My Ocado didn’t come yesterday due to the snow so I went to the supermarket at 9 last night to do a big shop. Reminded me of when I was a kid and going to The Big Asda was a trip out
Also yesterday I went out to clear the driveway and 4 of my neighbours came out to their driveways too so we decided to do the whole road in a socially distanced manner We all had a good laugh and chat, it was virtually a party
Yesterday was a good day!

pineapplejuice22 · 15/01/2021 09:12

I am saving the exciting job of rearranging the freezer until the weekend so I have something to look forward to! Love this thread- it's cheered me right up.

MotheringShites · 15/01/2021 09:18

Nothing this time. Nothing at all.

During lockdown 1 we could at least enjoy the nice weather and the novelty of having more time at home. This time, trying to cheer yourself up is like filling a bucket full of holes. It’s miserable and all the trite shit isn’t helping.

BigTallyWacker · 15/01/2021 09:24

I had a blood test on Wednesday and the thrill of chatting in person to someone other than dh or dc was almost too much to bear. Coupled with the 15min drive each way in total silence it was pretty much a perfect day.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/01/2021 09:30

I went to the tip and it was in the next borough. (Can't be doing with the booking system for the one 3 miles away)

PerfectlyImperfectx · 15/01/2021 09:33

I had to go to the hospital yesterday for a breast ultrasound scan. The nurse was super chatty and we shared a name. It was actually rather lovely to have someone to talk to - I live by myself. Then I went to McDonald’s on the way home Smile

MaudesMum · 15/01/2021 09:40

A friend phoned me unexpectedly yesterday, and I had a long and surprisingly interesting meeting on zoom for work. I was singing in the kitchen in the evening as a result...

trevthecat · 15/01/2021 09:45

Yesterday I went to pick up some new shampoo bars from a lady who makes them locally. It was snowing a little. I've not been more than a 10 minute walk from home since early December. It was strange 😂

MrsMaryClausFace · 15/01/2021 10:01

@EssentialHummus

There were tree surgeons working outside the house last week (I’m home with 3yo DD). That was a brilliant morning’s entertainment. At some point they looked over and saw me, DH and DD all standing at the window, both adults holding a coffee.
We had tree surgeons opposite us the other week. I sat and watched them for a good hour, was so exciting Grin

I quite like our tip booking system. Means you have something to look forward to.

Can't believe I wrote that.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 15/01/2021 10:20

I have a sinus infection too, weirdly, so have to go to the gp in a bit. I'm excited because I have a reason to go out in the snow and can take my camera with me and take some snowy pictures.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/01/2021 10:28

Smear test yesterday. I was actually looking forward to it.

orangecinnamon · 15/01/2021 10:47

Once a month I go to M&S to get food, I always go when I know it will be quiet and it is. Sometimes there is reduced cake or I might have a peep at the clothes section (looks around for the Covid police). I practically skip the ten minutes it takes to walk there.

TheDogsMother · 15/01/2021 11:02

I'm 'saving' my Sarah Raven seed catalogues so I have something to look forward to next week.

My next trip to the dentist is a combined check up and hygienist but I'm wondering if I should separate them so I have an extra trip to look forward to.

Plussizejumpsuit · 15/01/2021 11:19

Thrush treatment buying update. I got a hair dye from boots and son crisps and pop to have in the car! So exciting!!

@FairlyOddmother

We get a fortnightly veg box delivery; it has 7 'standard' items and 5 random seasonal items. Therefore Veg Box Day is thrilling, my mum even rings me to find out what we got!
I used to get a veg box but stopped because we could no longer take delivery of it. Obviously at home now so we can. Thinking of re starting for this reason. So exciting to see what you get!

Loving the posts! Making me laugh. I've also started to notice when the bin men come! Glad I'm not the only one with such a sad life now.

I went for a smear test and congratulated myself by buying a slice of non essential cake on the way home.

I bought a Vax carpet washer and I am slowly doing the whole house.

Rock and roll. Grin

RuleOfCat · 15/01/2021 11:42

@Tigresswoods

Next week we get to give the cat her monthly flea tablet. It's literally the only thing on the calendar in January.
This is giving us a bit of a thrill too. Even more so because we don't have any flea/worm treatment left at home so I have to get some. Phoned the vet to ask if we needed to reserve a slot to pick some up, and the nurse said 'No, not necessary, just pop in during our opening hours'. This level of freedom and choice is bowling me over. I'm considering this afternoon, as an end-of-week treat to myself. The cat, however, does not view getting his spot-on treatment as a treat.
froggydoggy · 15/01/2021 13:54

Yesterday I had to go to pick something up from my son's school, I hadn't left the house since Christmas Eve, it was brilliant!

MaudesMum · 15/01/2021 14:05

@RuleOfCat Collecting medication from my vet is even more exciting. You aren't allowed in the surgery, so have to phone when you arrive, and someone then comes out (in PPE) to hand over the medication and take payment.

MoiraRoseVibes · 15/01/2021 14:18

The other day I went to M&S and my shopping came to £25 exactly. Me and the checkout girl had a whole conversation about how pleasing that was. Scraping the barrel Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 15/01/2021 14:31

My cats want to know why I'm laughing so hard!

salcombebabe · 15/01/2021 14:33

When I went outside to put the recycling in the bin this morning I realised that I was just a little too excited at the thought of being outside!!!
At the moment the only time I leave the house to actually go anywhere is to the chiropractor once a week!! I love it and really feel like I’ve actually accomplished something 🤣
