What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

I have a checkup at the dentist next Friday, and am wondering what I will wear - it feels like a proper day out. After that, the next big event is taking the cat for her annual boosters. Last year it was 30 Jan, but I think I might book it for eg 1 Feb so I can be certain of somewhere to go next month. Usually DP takes her, but I'll fight him for it.

Like someone else on here I was so excited to go collect DD’s new coat from next. I had a quick chat with a nice lady who was also collecting a parcel and was very happy to buy some things in the sale.

I made a day of it and went to the McDonald’s drive through after for some nuggets. Grin

The field near me has now got some sheep, so we spend most of our day looking at them/ trying to feed them.

I also live for nursery drop off/ pick up. As when DH works away they are the only real life adult humans not on teams that I see all day!

Drove to Dunelm to pick up a mop bucket. The week's highlight.

LER83 · 15/01/2021 15:25

This thread has really cheered me up! Signed up to a milkman last week, got our first delivery on Monday and I was just a bit too excited about all the 'welcome to' leaflets/magazine that came with it! I also had some meat delivered from a local butcher, it came in a box tied with string, I took a picture 😂

Today we had glorious sunshine and blue skies (back to normal rain and gloom tomorrow though) and I managed to do some stuff in the garden for an hour or so.

Best bit was actually being able to sit outside on the bench with a cup of coffee. No wind, no rain, wasn't cold. Made me think spring is just around the corner. Smile

I’m going to build a snowman when the kids finish online lessons

The highlight of my mundane shitty boring groundhog week is Death in Paradise on a Thursday. Yes. I'm broken.

I didn't get outside but I noticed the sunshine too and thought the same about spring being not too far away. Definitely felt a bit more upbeat...we can get spring like weather in February down here ( fingers crossed).

I bought new daylight strength lightbulbs for my office. The difference they make is amazing. I've literally never been this excited about light bulbs.

@LadyCatStark

I used to go into Greggs for a steak bake and a flake cake, just so I could say it out loud.

ImRealHonest · 15/01/2021 16:21

The vet wants to see my dog for a follow up appointment on Wednesday. That’s two outings in two weeks.

Eckhart · 15/01/2021 16:23

I've got a really nice umbrella which I got really excited about, and still do each time I use it.

The icing on the cake was that it fit through the letterbox. I nearly wet myself when I saw it on the doormat.

sausagepastapot · 15/01/2021 16:40

I had a blood test at the GP a few weeks back, a real memorable one.

I am part of an ONS covid study, its so much fun, makes me feel popular.

I drove to London to get my vaccine a few weeks ago. It honestly was like a mini break. So pleasurable. Wish I could leave a tripadvisor review, 5 star.

Got a text from Boots, my prescription was ready. I walked straight in and picked it up immediately like some kind of VIP.

Seeing planes in the sky (during lockdown 1). I'd wrinkle my forehead and say "what are YOU doing up there? Where are you going?".

TeachesOfPeaches · 15/01/2021 16:54

I was outside when the sonic boom happened the other day which was quite cool

Kumquatsquash · 15/01/2021 17:10

I spend a ridiculous amount of money on Oatley barista. I discovered I can save a very small amount by ordering them on Amazon with subscribe and save. Every 2 weeks I get a box of 6 Oatleys and it's the most exciting parts of the month. Looking at all those grey boxes lined up neatly on the shelf and knowing I saved 66p brings me immense joy. I actually stand there sipping coffee and staring at them.

lilfoxfur · 15/01/2021 17:12

Diamond painting!! I love them! I've just finished this one and have started a Pikachu one for DS10.

Also gin but that's less healthy than the diamond painting...

Jjjjjj1981 · 15/01/2021 17:16

The weekly bin collection. Me and DS witnessed it in it’s full glory last week, AND the bin men waved at us. I haven’t stopped talking about it since

FairlyOddmother · 15/01/2021 17:59

Our cat needs his ears cleaned, so that will easily be the highlight of the weekend.

Plussizejumpsuit · 15/01/2021 18:08

Such exciting stuff. I'm laughing reading this thread.

TeaAndHobnob · 15/01/2021 18:18

Oooh @Kumquatsquash that is genuinely exciting. The supermarket only had the blue ones last time, I was considering a bulk order Blush

purrswhileheeats · 15/01/2021 18:35

My neighbours had a skip delivered at 7.30am yesterday. I was wooaahh 👀 They're having a new bathroom! Two very nice men doing the work; I'm keeping an eye on proceedings obviously.

MrsGrindah · 15/01/2021 18:52
