What are you all doing for NYE?

We usually host on New Years but obviously can’t this year. We were thinking of going out for dinner with some friends but we’re Tier 2 so can’t sit together unless it’s outside. DP then suggested we go out for dinner just us but with the 11pm curfew I think it would feel a bit weird getting home just before midnight.

I think it might end up being a night in with M&S party food. Anyone got any exciting plans/ideas?

Hmm hadn’t even thought about it! I think it will probably be a nice night in with a good dinner, some dancing around with the kids and a long walk the next day... if there’s any year for a sedate NYE this is it IMO!

FelicityBob · 02/12/2020 19:45

Working a night shift Xmas Sad can’t imagine I’d be doing anything if I wasn’t though

Holothane · 02/12/2020 19:48

Nothing it’s not my favourite time and this year I can’t wait to see the back of it.

megletthesecond · 02/12/2020 19:52

Nothing. The same as every other year. I hate NYE.

Well you did ask,

LooneyLovefood · 02/12/2020 19:58

In a normal year DH and I would go out for a meal around 5/6pm and then be back in the house for 7/8pm. We'd put on comfy pjs and have a few drinks and snacks while watching a film. At midnight we'd look out the window at the fireworks then off to bed.

This year, the meal out will be replaced by a takeaway but other than that everything else will be the same.

In the 16 years we've been together, we've only gone out twice on NYE and only enjoyed it once. Much better to just have a relaxed evening at home together, much less stress and pressure to have the best night of the year.

Izzabellasasperella · 02/12/2020 19:59

I love Nye and I've gone out or hosted a party for the last 17 years! (and then only because I had ds by cesarean just before😊)
I have no idea what we are going to do although I do have a new dress and boots😊
We are in tier one so more relaxed but not enough for a party🙁

DelphineWalsh · 02/12/2020 20:00

We're usually out at a house party with friends but i guess its a takeaway and an early night this time.

InTheseUncertainTimes · 02/12/2020 20:02

Staying in. Eating something nice. Maybe having a drink. Might play our annual one board game of the year, if we feel like it.

ILoveAnOwl · 02/12/2020 20:05

We've booked a cottage and will be sipping champagne from the balcony overlooking the sea.

Ilovemycat13 · 02/12/2020 20:06

I never do anything, I’ve never seen the point 😂😂😂

Sirzy · 02/12/2020 20:07

Bottle of fizz, some sort of no effort meal find a DJ on twitch and chill

PaddyF0dder · 02/12/2020 20:08

Nothing.

There’s a fucking pandemic. It’s been in the news and everything.

YourWinter · 02/12/2020 20:11

I'll be at work (supermarket) until 8pm, then going home to my dog. We'll be in bed before midnight and look forward to a nice walk on NYD

Attictroll · 02/12/2020 20:11

With Mil hopefully who we are in bubble with. Do may do a meal out early as a bubble. A special meal and fizz. We were only just wondering what the tv will show instead of fireworks 😕

PanamaPattie · 02/12/2020 20:16

I'll be making a roast for the evening meal. Lighting the fire, drinking port and watching shite on TV.

CherryPavlova · 02/12/2020 20:17

Hosting a party for fifty. Black tie, fizz and canapés. Dancing and racing. A harp choir. Fireworks. Breakfast at 2, carriages at 3.

Mybedislisting · 02/12/2020 20:17

We normally have a boozy dinner party with friends.

I’ll be going to bed early this year and willing this bullshit to be over

TakeMeToYourLiar · 02/12/2020 20:17

I'm having a x section on 30th so hoping to spend NYE introducing my children to each other :)

mindutopia · 02/12/2020 20:18

Staying at home. NYE is literally the most painful night of the year to ever go anywhere. It’s just miserable. And we couldn’t go anywhere if we wanted to drink (even if we could get a babysitter), nowhere in driving distance, and almost impossible to get a taxi to where we live even on a normal night.

Ideasplease322 · 02/12/2020 20:18

I spent too many years paying a fortune into some crowded Awful venue then waiting for Hours to a taxi.

Now I do the same thing every year, sofa, movie, bottle of champagne!

Noteventhebestdrummer · 02/12/2020 20:19

Generally we play board games and watch The Life of Brian, drink wine and eat excess snacks Smile

PotteringAlong · 02/12/2020 20:20

We’re in tier 3. There’s nothing we can do...
