What are you all doing for NYE?

We usually host on New Years but obviously can’t this year. We were thinking of going out for dinner with some friends but we’re Tier 2 so can’t sit together unless it’s outside. DP then suggested we go out for dinner just us but with the 11pm curfew I think it would feel a bit weird getting home just before midnight.

I think it might end up being a night in with M&S party food. Anyone got any exciting plans/ideas?

We do an around the world theme with he children which has grown into a tradition. BBQ for an Aussie new year, Indian when Delhi goes into next year, Mediterranean snacks, American Pancakes for breakfast etc. When they were little we would put the news on every hour for fireworks, by about Moscow they had enough and happily went to bed. Now it is just me asleep before minight! I was thinking that maybe by this year the dc are all old enough to go out for the evening but maybe we will do that next year.

MrsDThomas · 03/12/2020 17:12

Tesco finest meal and what ever the kids want. Bed as usual well before 12

Springersrock · 03/12/2020 17:14

We’re going to a local restaurant that is owned by a Romanian family

Romania is 2 hours ahead of us so they’re doing the NYE thing at 10pm

Probably going on a (sober) pub crawl and visiting a few parties. Then standing around on the roadside for a bit in the cold before warming up in some strangers’ houses.

WantChewbaccaForGood · 03/12/2020 17:17

probably dressing up (maybe a pirate, or a flapper, or a 50s lady) & getting maudlin drunk.

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2020 17:20

Having a drink and possibly takeaway with DH and the DC that live here with me. Maybe a box game if anyone wants to.
Moaning about the rubbish telly yet still watching it.
Going to bed way before 12pm after wondering if I can get away with taking the Christmas decorations down yet.
Getting woken up by the fireworks at 12pm and moaning about that too.

dementedma · 03/12/2020 17:24

Nothing. Hate NY. Will be in bed

GameSetMatch · 03/12/2020 17:36

Nothing, we are tier 3, takeaways will be really busy so we will just have a normal meal and some fireworks and sparklers in the garden about 7.30 then send the kids to bed whilst I fall asleep on the sofa!

cyclingmad · 03/12/2020 17:38

Virtual house rave with fav djs that are streaming, I've got flashy lights to give that club experience

justwinginglife1 · 03/12/2020 17:47

Same as every year - We never go out for NYE anyway 🤣

We do a load of party food and have a few drinks. DC are 7 and 11, we get a basket full of prizes (chocolate, scratch cards, sweets etc) and play bingo (my sons fave) and other games - winners get to pick a prize.

Kids stay up until midnight and watch the fireworks, sometimes get sparklers to do too. Just generally chill out and have fun as a family which is nice. This year we have a hot tub so I expect we will get in there also.

Previous years we have ended up with a few family, friends or neighbours joining us, but tbh I'm quite looking forward to it just being us this year

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 03/12/2020 17:49

I'll be working from 4pm new year's eve until 10am new year's day.

SleepingStandingUp · 03/12/2020 17:51

3 kids 5 and under. Staying in and hope they all sleep through the cacaphonous noise of fireworks rebounding around the estate and trying to stay awake. It's my birthday too.

MrsDThomas · 03/12/2020 18:09

Best NYE I had was spent on the top if Snowdon. Absolutely perfect. Dont feel i can do it now i have kids , but i could go for a walk with DH before midnight

Izzabellasasperella · 03/12/2020 18:20

@MrsDThomas did you walk up in the dark? A braver woman than me if you did😁

Dinner at our favourite restaurant, back home for music and fizz until the bells, bed 😂

Blughbablugh · 03/12/2020 18:27

We haven't been out since dd was born so for the last three years. Usually have a Chinese takeaway and have a few drinks, watch the fireworks and ny concert then bed. This year I am pregnant so no drinking for me, think the Chinese will be difficult to get as people who usually go out will have the same idea and so will have a rethink. Hopefully a better start to next year than this. Last year I woke up on ny day with norovirus. Must have been an omen!

GlowingOrb · 03/12/2020 18:34

A quiet night in, not spreading my germs.

Mitsouko67 · 03/12/2020 18:37

Quiet night in.

God, you're dull. Nobody is hosting an extravagant party for 50 during a pandemic. How can you post shite like that and expect to be taken seriously? I get that it's part of your schtick to post imaginary snobby bullshit but you just sound unhinged sometimes.
Jesus, lighten up!

I can't believe some handwringers are taking Cherrypavlova seriously.

userxx · 03/12/2020 18:58

Whaaaaat? I've binned off the thunderbirds and park and just ordered myself a posh frock.

I am fully expecting to go to at least one party like you describe. I’ll report back on NYD how many I attended.

(Before telling me I’m unhinged or irresponsible, I’m not. I’m working over NYE and emergency services are all prepared and expecting such parties.)

Lazysundayafternoons · 03/12/2020 19:01

Probably be in bed by 10pm like the last few years

BreakfastOfWaffles · 03/12/2020 19:05

I will be using it as an excuse to go to bed at 10pm!

BikeRunSki · 03/12/2020 19:11

I imagine I’ll ring up my Tier 2 widowed mum who I havn’t seen since July. Might go for a walk on the sane paths I’ve walked 100 times this year. You know, for a change.
