What are you all doing for NYE?

We usually host on New Years but obviously can’t this year. We were thinking of going out for dinner with some friends but we’re Tier 2 so can’t sit together unless it’s outside. DP then suggested we go out for dinner just us but with the 11pm curfew I think it would feel a bit weird getting home just before midnight.

I think it might end up being a night in with M&S party food. Anyone got any exciting plans/ideas?

We stopped going out on NYE years, ago. We normally get party food in, have a few drinks and watch the fireworks on TV. I'm guessing we'll be doing the same this year, minus the fireworks.

itsgettingweird · 02/12/2020 20:21

Had t really thought about it!

Usually it's just me and ds at home, curry film and fireworks.

So probably ghe same as every other year

Always in bed early New Year’s Eve, never see the new year in. Up early and out for a walk, normally to the coast.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/12/2020 20:21

We usually go for a late lunch, then in the evening have a cheeseboard/tapas. Our cat is terrified of fireworks, so last year I saw in the bells sitting with her in the hall cupboard, listening to a white noise app. (Big cupboard that some of our street have converted into a loo!)

userxx · 02/12/2020 20:24

We’re in tier 3. There’s nothing we can do...

There's plenty to be done, I'm thinking of going to the local park with 6 friends, maybe get a few bottles of thunderbirds just for old time sake, and behaving like teenagers. Can't wait.

W3dontdoduvets · 02/12/2020 20:25

@CherryPavlova

Hosting a party for fifty. Black tie, fizz and canapés. Dancing and racing. A harp choir. Fireworks. Breakfast at 2, carriages at 3.
You might wanna rethink that plan. (Btw, it sounds like a uni grad party!)
Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/12/2020 20:28

Nothing. I'm not really into New Year, I usually just stay home with DS.

Littlemissnutcracker · 02/12/2020 20:29

We will be staying in and watch the fireworks from home. We always sit on the dcs beds just after midnight (watched on TV) as they sleep and have big hug Grin and this makes us so happy

Thinking of booking a meal during the day New Year's Day

maddiemookins16mum · 02/12/2020 20:30

Same as usual. Telly, maybe a takeaway and bed by 11pm.

Nousernameforme · 02/12/2020 20:31

Dp will be working he does every year. So i will stay up with the dc that want to playing card/board games eating party food till he gets home then its out to watch the fireworks at midnight

YewandOak · 02/12/2020 20:32

Same as every evening, tea, pjs, coffee/tea/cold drink,internet/good book, then bed at some point.

littlefireseverywhere · 02/12/2020 20:33

@PaddyF0dder
Nothing.

There’s a fucking pandemic. It’s been in the news and everything.

Brilliant love this quote! Has to be saying of the year.

Stationfork · 02/12/2020 20:33

Working a night shift

LadyR77 · 02/12/2020 20:34

DH will be working, so I'll be on the sofa with some nice bits of party food, enjoying a film. Not sure I'll bother staying up until midnight this year.

Mumof2bears · 02/12/2020 20:36

Mostly the same as we have done over the last few years - dinner and then wrapping DD's birthday presents (her birthday is on New Year's Day!) until about 11.50pm so that we have time to open the bubbly and toast the arrival of the new year. Presumably there won't be any televised firework displays to watch this year, as that would only encourage crowds? Makes me think back to this time last year: little did we know what was coming. DD will be making do with a family birthday this time round, unlike last year's soft play trip with a big group of her friends and their parents Sad.

Mulhollandmagoo · 02/12/2020 20:44

Hot shower, PJ's on, massive takeaway and trashy TV! Our friends normally have everyone round and we all chip in food and drink, but unable to do that this yea, so just me, my husband and my toddler (who'll be in bed long before midnight) and I'm actually really looking forward to it. Looking forward to a quiet relaxed Christmas on the whole to be honest

Izzabellasasperella · 02/12/2020 20:45

@CherryPavlova can I come to yours? I'll organize the scavenger hunt. 😁

MerlotChiantiMontepulicano · 02/12/2020 20:48

Nothing, never do.

Well I'll probably be trying to get DS to go back to sleep after he's woken by the bastard fireworks at midnight.

justjuggling · 02/12/2020 20:48

Same as every year - takeaway, TV/games with my children and bed before midnight! Perfect.

CoronaIsWatching · 02/12/2020 20:48

TV, M&S, bottle of prosecco. Waking up early and refreshed. a new year, a new start, a new hope.

pinkdragons · 02/12/2020 20:49

Haven't done anything exciting for NYE in years anyway.
I'll probably do a little party early eve for my kids. Sainsbury's buffet food, disco lights etc.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 02/12/2020 20:50

We're having Christmas day mk2. The kids are with their dad for actual Christmas so we will celebrate again NYE with me & my parents (bubbled since Jun/Jul so allowed even in tier 2 and outside of the relaxed restrictions period)
Well that's the plan if we all manage to avoid contact with Covid til then......

user1493413286 · 02/12/2020 20:51

We normally spend it with friends and bit gutted that we can’t. Instead DH and I will have steak and champagne and probably fall asleep on the sofa before midnight

Daisychainsandglitter · 02/12/2020 20:52

We're in tier 3 so not a lot although I like the sound of @userxx suggestion and pretend I'm 16 again.
