What was the scandal at your school?

There was the maths teacher who was known to be a bit of a creep, who was caught snagging a pupil in the school hall...never heard from him again.
And the headmistress was caught with her hands in the till, quick retirement and shipped out.
I went to a decent school I promise!

Deputy headteacher at the girls'school I attended in the 80s was jailed for horrendous paedophilia offences.

TheHauntingOfHebeMumsnet · 28/10/2020 12:42

Crikey. My cocaine discovered in bag on a school skiing trip now sounds pretty tame, reading those!

(Not MY cocaine, I hasten to add... My school scandal cocaine story, I mean).

A year 5 boy set fire to the crash mats on the field. That was exciting.

No teacher was convicted of anything but looking back there was some extremely questionable behaviour.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 28/10/2020 12:45

Music teacher was rumoured to be having an ‘affair’ with a girl in my year.

I saw them in town as an adult, very much together, so I assume the rumours were true. 13 or so when it started. Grim.

Caroncanta · 28/10/2020 12:46

One of the year 11s getting pregnant. A teacher was the father. They went on to get married. And he still remained as a teacher at the school 😮

Chewbecca · 28/10/2020 12:46

Economics teacher (who was much admired by most girls) married a pupil. They’re actually still together I believe, 30 years on.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 28/10/2020 12:47

Teacher's mini picked up by the rugby team and moved into the hall.

Bottle of vodka thrown out of a top floor window at the chair of governors.

Decades before my time, but someone who is now a household name was expelled for cycling from school into town naked.

Justjoinedforthis · 28/10/2020 12:48

Pupil called a teacher with a glass eye a ‘one-eyed bitch’, teacher slapped pupil, teacher career ended!
Also English teacher smoking weed with a girl in my class.

ANoTail · 28/10/2020 12:50

In primary school, they called the police when one of the Year 6 boys (SN, I think) ran around attacking teachers with a knife he'd smuggled in. When the police got there, he opened his flies and pissed on them.
In secondary school, an art teacher got his penis stuck in a hole in the wall in the boys toilet. I believe vaseline was eventually used to get him out.
In sixth form, a newly divorced maths teacher eloped with one of the Year 13s.

RHTawneyonabus · 28/10/2020 12:50

One of our teachers was serial offender with teen girls. He even got one pregnant and was openly living with a former pupil for a while. This must have gone on for the best part of 20 years before he was convicted and jailed. All the kids knew and I’m sure some adults did too. Shocking really.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 28/10/2020 12:50

Science Teacher who had been teaching for a million years at the school hit one of the pupils, His dad then turned up and hit him. He was suspended and then committed suicide.

nibdedibble · 28/10/2020 12:50

Teacher had illegal guns and mh problems. Was sacked.

Rollercoaster1920 · 28/10/2020 12:51

The teen pregnancies, 2 of the dorkier kids being excluded for having knives strapped to their legs, and the seemingly dodgy art teacher (who wasn't really). Oh, and the arson of the 6th form block.

I couldn't be a teacher of secondary age kids!

NinaNannoo · 28/10/2020 12:51

Lots of teachers having relationships with each other
Random school leavers coming into school and running down corridors causing havoc
When an ex pupil set fire to the science block and we all got the day off
When the dog got in
A teacher / pupil relationship

ladybee28 · 28/10/2020 12:53

Following with wide eyes - my school was so BORING!

lastqueenofscotland · 28/10/2020 12:54

I went to a very posh very expensive school, There was a girl who got pregnant at 13 Shock
Two of the teachers (young lads) rented a house together and had some wild party that they got in a bit (lot!) of legal hot water for.
Someone died drowning in an inch deep muddy puddle playing rugby. That was very sad.

Quite a few drugs based explusions as well, too many rich kids who’d never heard the word no, it was surprising for such a successfully academic school how bad some of the behaviour was

Noitjustwontdo · 28/10/2020 12:55

A geography teacher married a student. She’d only just left the school when they got married so their love affair obviously started before... He wasn’t even a young attractive teacher, he was in his late fifties and dressed like a classic geography teacher.

halloweenagain · 28/10/2020 12:55

One teacher had relationships with pupils and eventually committed suicide.
Another arrived with his partner who was a pupil from his last school.
Other than just a couple of alcoholics.

Orangeblossom7777 · 28/10/2020 12:56

Daughter of the science teacher (dad) and home economics teacher (mum) was in our year. Felt very sorry for her after it became knowledge the dad had an affair with a former pupil and the parents spilt - all the time still teaching and her attending the same school.

LongPauseNoAnswer · 28/10/2020 12:56

One of the girls in 3rd year (so 14 or so) getting pregnant. What a scandal in holy catholic Ireland ... Hmm We were just fascinated and awed by the fact that she had had sex. She was our hero!

Noitjustwontdo · 28/10/2020 12:57

A year 11 boy tragically hung himself from a tree in the school grounds too, I think I was in year 7/8 at the time. His girlfriend had recently broken up with him and he struggled to get past it from what I could gather. He did it early one morning so people arriving at school found him. Tragic.

Cupoftchaiagain · 28/10/2020 12:58

This might be outing so note it was actually a school near me not mine but it’s a good story.
A man in his 30s faked being 17 and attended the school as a pupil for some months. Apparently he wanted to retake his qualifications...

Also the pupil/teacher affair story. They moved in together.

ANoTail · 28/10/2020 13:01

Oh, we had quite a few teen pregnancies as well. My sister had a baby on study leave for GCSEs.

PotterHead1985 · 28/10/2020 13:01

The ones I remember:

Irish sub teacher smacked one of the lads. She was out of there before her arse could touch the seat.

English teacher who taught from the top of the class with his hand in his pocket - if ya get me.

Janitor nicking all the ethanol from the science store room. I dont want to think what he did with it - he was also one of the two local ice cream men!!!!
