There was the maths teacher who was known to be a bit of a creep, who was caught snagging a pupil in the school hall...never heard from him again.
And the headmistress was caught with her hands in the till, quick retirement and shipped out.
I went to a decent school I promise!

PE teacher1 had an affair with a sixth form student. PE teacher2 found out and threatened to report them. Student went to head teacher and said PE teacher2 was inappropriate towards her. PE teacher 2 got fired. 1year later it was reported in the news that PE teacher 2 had developed a mental disorder and murdered his sister and had been imprisoned.

SBTLove · 28/10/2020 13:22

Janitor in his 50s getting pupil 16 pregnant!

hopeishere · 28/10/2020 13:23

Lots of pregnancies in my sisters year - eight I think, lots of pregnancies in general (all girls catholic school)
Pervy music teacher dating a student
Pervy science teacher coming into the changing rooms while girls were getting changed all the time

Not at my school, but at the school where my kids are now, there was a famous 90s case of a 32 (? ish) year old former pupils re-enrolling as a 17 year old in an attempt to get into medical school. He was eventually found out during a holiday with other pupils when his real passport came to light.

Still talked about 25 years later.

One of my classmates' dad, who was a teacher at another school, ran away with one of his pupils.

Chunkyetfunky90 · 28/10/2020 13:28

French teacher was a pedophile got arrested, and girl in year 10 had a baby

StartingGridGo · 28/10/2020 13:28

A music teacher who faked having cancer, she went the whole hog faking medical reports, started a blog detailing her illness and treatment, and allowed all kinds of fundraisers to go ahead.

glitterelf · 28/10/2020 13:28

One of our teachers made it into the
Sunday rags for having an inappropriate relationship with a student, most of the students knew to watch out for him as he had wandering hands.

rslsys · 28/10/2020 13:28

Primary Head convinced she would get headship of new school being built. Didn't get the gig and went on to embezzle £100K from her school.
High school, music teacher shagging geography teacher who's husband was the chemistry teacher and an alcoholic. Had double chemistry on a Monday morning first thing. He would walk in without a word, go to the prep room. Sound of bottle trembling against a beaker. Half hour later lesson would commence.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 28/10/2020 13:29

@sd249 that’s the school my daughter went to (not at the time).

Same school, one of the girls burnt a whole block down.

Hailtomyteeth · 28/10/2020 13:29

As a pupil - the headteacher used to come into classes and unpin his wife's hair. She wore it up, he liked it loose. Also, a teacher used to meet one of the older girls to the long grass - for what, I wonder? Anyway, they got married when she was sixteen and were still together 20 years later.

There's some real scandal from another school (think, headteacher lost his job, children were involved) but too outing to describe.

AnnaBegins · 28/10/2020 13:30

The usual teen pregnancies and a teacher/pupil relationship which he was eventually prosecuted for. Some shocking drunken behaviour by teachers on residentials which they tried to blame on pupils for years after. And the music teacher trying to steal fees the choir was paid for a private function - luckily she was called out on it and shared the remainder around the choir.
All at a standard state comp.

Ylvamoon · 28/10/2020 13:30

I must win the prize for most horrendous "scandal":
PE teacher and deputy head always together... caught kissing / cuddling on several occasions in school. I think most pupils & teachers knew about the affair... (this was at secondary school)

Said PE teacher was murdered by husband several months after "affair" started. It was all over the papers, apparently she was killed during a jealous rage. Husband was quite a prominent figure in our small town. So media interest was huge.
It's sad really, we all liked her, she was a good teacher.

Drama teacher sacked for passing around a joint at a school production after show party...

Hailtomyteeth · 28/10/2020 13:33

Oh, I had a twenty seven year old in my year 10 class. He said he was fifteen and social services said we weren't to address it, because that would upset him. He was quite open about his age because we couldn't do anything about it. In truth, he didn't present as a horrible man, I've had worse in the classroom, but I didn't like giving an adult access to young people without any background checks at all.

waterjungle · 28/10/2020 13:33

A girl that sat next to me was murdered the summer we left school after GCSEs. The boy I sat across from me in RE burgled our school then a few months later was arrested for beating a man to death. It was really horrid.

I have lots of stories. Went to a grammar school with impeccable reputation. Not sure how they managed to keep up the facade.

music teacher had a breakdown in class and ambulance was called to take him away.

PE teacher got involved with a cult and tried to heal student with broken leg by laying on of photo of cult leader.

Someone smeared shit on the toilet wall. They threatened to get a DNA test to work out who did it. Lol

Various affairs between teachers and students.

The really sad thing is that I remember several suicides amongst the students. Not in my year but above... clearly the school was shit at supporting anyone with MH issues.

OlivePop · 28/10/2020 13:37

Stupid one for my old secondary school. There was a phase of someone defacating in random areas- the school stage, outside the lockers etc. We had a strict school assembly about ousting the culprit GrinGrinGrin never found out who it was but was (and still is!) always referred to fondly as 'The Phantom Sh**ter' by us pupils.

SquirrelFan · 28/10/2020 13:38

Music teacher left his wife for the English teacher.
Science teacher completely crazy and unqualified: used to rant about "AIDS being God's punishment on homosexuals".
The real shocker was the 16-year-old convicted, with her boyfriend, of plotting to kill her parents.

Pressed send too soon!

Louise woodward went to my school, for weeks whilst the trial was on the media camped outside and the police had to have a cordon. She was well liked at school from what I remember and I think may still be in the area

Faircastle · 28/10/2020 13:39

I went to a school where the girls' school and the boys' school were next door to each other. We shared a coach service and some clubs.

A couple of years before I started at the girls' school, a teacher at the boys' school was regularly inviting pupils to go sailing with him. Once on his boat, he hypnotised them and sexually abused them. One of the pupils made an audio recording which was used as evidence.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 28/10/2020 13:39

@HotToCold the head/secretary thing happened at my school too. Probably not that uncommon!

Pinkywoo · 28/10/2020 13:40

So many things, my school was rough!

One of the teacher's stepson wandering around the school with a sawn off shotgun looking for him, we got three days off for that.

Several teacher/pupil relationships, two of which are now married with kids.

A PE teacher and lab tech going to prison for being peadophiles.

Regular mass fights with other schools.

Unsurprisingly the school failed Ofsted and the head was sacked, we all preferred it before though!

soffiee · 28/10/2020 13:40

A music teacher had to bring her boyfriends kids from ex wife into the lessons. The boyfriend had enough and dumped the kids from his ex wife to our class. The kids were probably 4 and 6 sitting in our music room. It's not a scandal but it was so weird. Also we used to see all our PE teachers in town partying every weekend and they would sleep with each other. And when I left secondary school, a few years later one of my old science teacher was caught with drugs and was all over on the local news. There were always pregnancy scandals and always some sort of rumour going around about a teacher trying it on with a pupil.
