I just had the flu jab in Boots. I remembered my letter as they never believe I am exempt.

Taswama · 14/10/2020 16:45

Petrol is indeed more expensive in the UK @MissConductUS - £1.24 per litre on average today. I'll let you do the math maths back to $ per gallon.

Thanks for starting a new thread and linking it to the old one.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 14/10/2020 16:45

Thank you for the new thread @MissConductUS Smile

Following on from the last thread, I paid £1.18 per litre this morning Grin And that's 3-4p per litre cheaper at a supermarket than a garage would be.

iklboo · 14/10/2020 16:46

My order of loose bottomed flan tins arrived today.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/10/2020 16:47

I have reported my thread for delteion!

I always wondered why a christmas cake has to be started so early?

We do christmas cookies (no stollen, I am not from saxony, no lebkuchen, different area altogether) and I may not start before the 11th of november.

grassisjeweled · 14/10/2020 16:47

Ooh lovely

Just having lunch, quiche

BrowncoatWaffles · 14/10/2020 16:47

I am about to go to my mum in laws to do a Zoom yoga class and eat cake.

Sounds lame but this is the fourth time we’ve done it and it’s become the highlight of my week. This week she’s baked me coffee cake (my favourite).

shitinmyhandsandclap · 14/10/2020 16:50

I set up my new computer desk this morning and am sitting working at it

mathanxiety · 14/10/2020 16:51

After quite a hoo hah last evening thanks to my landlord announcing around 5:30 pm that deck cleaning would be happening today, the three decks of my building are now cleared of all potted plants, tables, chairs, benches, bags of potting soil, trowels, wind chimes, and fairy lights. Work was supposed to commence no earlier than 9 so I got up early on my day off and had mine all cleared by 9:10. No sign of the power washers an hour and 45 minutes later...

This was forecast to be our last warm day before the cold sets in but I am wearing a cardigan and wondering if the weatherman could possibly have got it wrong.

Champagneforeveryone · 14/10/2020 16:54

DDog1 is happy to announce that the bed is all he expected Smile

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/10/2020 16:55

And what a lovely dog he is!

TenCornMaidens · 14/10/2020 17:09

I am serenely glad to join you again.

It is my birthday today (apologies if that is too stimulating a prospect) and I have made myself a cake using my new Kenwood mixer. Also moocbed about and had a cuppa with a friend.

Have decided that if you put the word 'birthday' before almost anything, it is magically nice. Birthday salad - much nicer than normal salad. Birthday walk - nicer than a normal walk. And so on.*

*does not apply to emptying bins.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 14/10/2020 17:19

Happy Birthday @TenCornMaidens Flowers

@Champagneforeveryone DDog1 is gorgeous. I hope he thinks the bed was worth the wait!

mathanxiety · 14/10/2020 17:23

Happy Birthday, @TenCornMaidens Gin
This post is possibly too chock-full of excitement for the thread, but we are almost twins!

Spudlet · 14/10/2020 17:30

@Prokupatuscrakedatus You start it early so you can feed it - poke holes in it with a skewer and pour brandy over it. Twice a week for several months. And the fruit is soaked in brandy before it’s baked. You keep it wrapped in baking paper in a tin while you do it, and it matures and soaks up all the booze until it’s just gorgeous. And boozy, did I mention boozy?

Basically, if you aren’t a teeny bit over the limit after a slice, it’s no Christmas cake of mine Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/10/2020 17:32

Congratulations from me, too!

Last night I had to fill salt into the dishwasher. It was full and I had to remove about 8 plates to get to the tank.
I then forgot to put them back in again.

MissConductUS · 14/10/2020 17:33

Happy BD @TenCornMaidens!

Lovely dog bed and dog @Champagneforeveryone.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Brownies make a fine complement to Christmas cookies.

I feel like we've just successfully crossed a river. Grin

I can increase the dullness level. I'm periodically watching the confirmation hearings for Judge Amy Barrett for the US Supreme Court. Since the outcome isn't in doubt it's two days of politicians preening for the cameras, making speeches about how wonderful they are and swanning about with charts. It's really dull.

Miss Yes, they do and will be included (I actually have an ingredients speradsheet for all varieties so I know how many kg of flour and sugar etc I need to get in - I work in admin Grin)

Frownette · 14/10/2020 17:36

I just tried to open a bottle of white wine but split it everywhere.

I've put it to onside, the remaining quarter and want my supper now.

Spudlet · 14/10/2020 17:40

@Champagneforeveryone What a gorgeous - and extremely comfy looking - dog!

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 14/10/2020 17:49

Yeahh new thread, I've had a migraine today but shiny new thread has cheered me up

EggyPegg · 14/10/2020 18:12

Oh @Champagneforeveryone, he is absolutely gorgeous, and he looks most content.

Yep @MissConductUS, fuel is very expensive over here. I have a diesel car and i usually pay £1.15 to £1.18 per litre. We could only dream of paying £0.44 a litre. Over lockdown, unleaded (petrol) dropped to £0.99 and I took photos as it must be close to 20 years since I saw that.
Also, you have inspired me to make a pecan pie for Christmas this year.

I ended up going for a nap at 4.30pm. It was delicious. I'm not hungry, so DH and the DC are eating tea together and I'll have a leisurely dinner alone later (anyone else enjoy the solitude of dinner with a book?).

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 14/10/2020 18:14

Happy birthday @TenCornMaidens Cake
PS don't get over-stimulated by this new thread! Wink

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/10/2020 18:25

I love your happy dog Champagneforeveryone, I have a soft spot for golden retrievers. We had one when I was a child and he unconditionally loved us to bits. I currently have a terrier and his love is very much conditional on food being provided liberally and at very regular intervals.

lachy · 14/10/2020 19:00

I've bathed DD and may have a bath myself later.

Just having a cup of tea while catching up on Bake Off.
