Seems to have shut up shop as from this morning.

Don't forget to let Pistonheads know too.

Notice:

“Mums.Chat
This site is now closed. Sadly it wasn't growing and I've been more than happy to fund it myself but the amount of complaints from members about inconsequential stuff has been the deciding factor. All personal data will be destroyed shortly. Thanks all 🌞”

Copying my reply from your other thread.

I'm very sad about this. I was chatting to some very lovely people there and it seems very sudden.

The site literally just had an update so some things looked different, which meant users asked questions of the Admin. That seems par for the course anywhere whenever there are changes.

I'm now quite upset that I have no way of contacting people I was "mid-conversation' with.

@LetsBounce

Don't forget to let Pistonheads know too.
Who?

It was due to lack of traffic, from what I read on the Notice. It was also a result of constant complaints from some posters which increased Admin’s workload. It might have been wiser to have had official moderators.

Isn't that the site mainly inhabited by racist Meghan Markle hating nut jobs
If so it won't be a great loss to humanity

picklemewalnuts · 11/10/2020 13:05

@annekipanki

SimonJT · 11/10/2020 13:07

Oh no, where will the racists posts pictures of the minstrels now?!

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/10/2020 13:11

Oh dear. What a pity. Never mind.

WotsitWiggle · 11/10/2020 13:12

@LemonRedwood I was mid-thread too! I'm frustrated that Admin didn't give a warning about the impending closure.

There did seem to be a couple of posters who were particularly vocal about changes, and I imagine if they'd been hassling the Admin you would get annoyed and think it wasn't worth it.

Shame, because the Xenforo user experience was really good. I continued to use this site as there's long-running threads I'm on, and I do miss the "like" and edit features.

WorraLiberty · 11/10/2020 13:13

I'm really surprised they just shut up shop like that with no warning.

I'm pretty sure the admin thread in their Forum Stuff topic said if it takes off and they get busy, they'll bring in some admin from Tattle?

LanaDelBoy · 11/10/2020 13:14

What?! It turns out moderating a forum in a way that pleases everyone isn't as easy as they made out?! Who'd have guessed?

MagicSummer · 11/10/2020 13:14

I am sorry it has been closed. I liked it as there was less swearing and I got a lot of support from members when I poured my heart out.

Neacy · 11/10/2020 13:19

I loved that site, friendly, welcoming, I was midway just chatting away, then gone, I very rarely post on here, I will miss everyone, why just shut it down, no goodbyes, no super flowing hair, no cheesy smiles, I’ll miss it.

So I will say my goodbyes here, I’m sad, but will leave you this. 😁❤️👍🏻

GreenSkin · 11/10/2020 13:19

It was a mix of stuff. There are things on here I would not go near .

Marisishidinginmyattic · 11/10/2020 13:20

I reckon whoever runs it received one moaning message too many and just thought FUCK IT.

GreenSkin · 11/10/2020 13:20

Yes. If any of my thread mates read this , I had fun .

LoeliaPonsonby · 11/10/2020 13:21

Anyone mind giving a potted history for the uninitiated?

Howzaboutye · 11/10/2020 13:21

Oh gosh everyone was so lovely
That's such a pity

Howzaboutye · 11/10/2020 13:21

Me too greenskin

Neacy · 11/10/2020 13:23

Waves goodbye to Greenskin, my fellow covers friend. ❤️😁👍🏻

goldfinchfan · 11/10/2020 13:23

Any chance of a return?

It did have some thoughtful posts I was enjoying reading

CinnamonSquare · 11/10/2020 13:23

I was mid-post too. Finished typed, pressed post, then got the closed message.

I'm very pleased to recognise this thread title and Lily because although we're all strangers on t'internet, I really feel like I'd made some friends.

(And I was looking forward to showing off my crochet and seeing how Soapy got on with starting her CAL today)

CinnamonSquare · 11/10/2020 13:24

Gah, posted in wrong flipping thread!

Mumsnet really isn't the most intuitive forum

AnneKipanki · 11/10/2020 13:24
