Have you put the heating on yet?

Its chilly here where I am and been raining most of the day.

Some irrational part of my brain refuses to put the heating on before September. It isn't even officially autumn until the end of September, maybe I should hold off until then?Hmm

Disclaimer...this is a very lighthearted thread Grin

Yes.

joystir59 · 28/08/2020 15:24

I refuse to put the heating on until October 1st at the earliest. I will wear an extra layer until then

SunbathingDragon · 28/08/2020 15:24

I’m full of arthritis so tend to have a very low threshold before the heating goes on. Must admit, it’s tempting today but so far resisting (am in the SE though, so possibly warmer than many other places).

Scarby9 · 28/08/2020 15:26

I am with you on the no heating on in August front.

As a result of which, I am sitting at my kitchen table, trying and largely failing to work while the rain pours down unrelentingly, with a hot water bottle tucked up my jumper!

Desperado24 · 28/08/2020 15:28

Heating is on 24/7/365 and the thermostat decides when it kicks in and puts the rads on.

Isn’t that how it works, and the temperature of the house just determines if the heating is “on” or not 🤷‍♂️

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/08/2020 15:30

No. It's 18 degrees here, that's not cold to me. I don't feel the cold easily though, as a result of living in a flat with dodgy storage heating for a long time.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 28/08/2020 15:30

Nope. Thermostat switched off. Felt a tad chilly last night but whacked a sweatshirt on and all was fine.

No heating on till around November normally.

No. DH actually commented last night that it was another two months until the heating goes on - he thinks we should hold off until half term! (No chance.)

katy1213 · 28/08/2020 15:33

I was very tempted last night.

We do actually have some nice September weather, not sure why it is chilly in August!

Report back if you break before the 1st October Grin

How are you feeling today?

I'm ashamed as a Yorkshire girl to admit it but yes we've had the heating on today! Been working out in the pouring rain in the garden all morning by lunchtime wouldn't have known my feet if I'd hit them with a pick axe and so on it has gone!

AuntieMarys · 28/08/2020 15:35

13 degrees and very wet here. Heating is on. And its lovely.

We turn our right down to 6 degrees in the Summer so it doesnt click on.

Not sure why!!!

Put it on for an hour yesterday, it was.pissing down, damp and I got soaked. Off again now though.

I put the heating on whenever it’s remotely needed irrespective of what month it is , however I’m SE and I’ve currently got a fan running in my lounge and all the windows open .

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 28/08/2020 15:40

We still have bi-fold doors and windows open.

Unpopular opinion but I hate an over warm house.
I like it fresh and bedroom window open all year round.

It takes A LOT for me to put on the heating and even when we do it's usually a blast in the morning, off in the day when no one used to be home and then comes on late afternoon and always off at night.

We have lots of duvets, open fires and cozy socks.

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 28/08/2020 15:42

No. Been far too hot!

viccat · 28/08/2020 15:44

No heating on until at least late September. It is chilly here as well but actually the indoor temperature is 21.5C - that's warmer than I usually have the thermostat on during winter, it just feels chilly this time of year.

sunshineandshowers40 · 28/08/2020 15:44

I'm actually thinking about putting it on now but as it's still August may put my dressing gown on over my clothes.

Trailing1 · 28/08/2020 15:44

Heating went on yesterday evening.
