How many countries have you visited?

Hi, my friend from school is very well travelled and is now a high end travel agent. She was saying recently that she has been to 47 countries.

Many of them are long haul types ie Australia, Japan, lots of Caribbean and Europe and some really exotic places such as Bora Bora.

I worked out I’ve been to 12 countries which I think is probably more than average. I have an auntie in her 60’s who has never left the country and know a few others who are the same.

It would be really interesting to hear about other people’s experiences. Included are England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales.

Whilst I was very impressed with my friend’s tally, she said one of her bosses has been to almost 70. I just couldn’t imagine even wanting to go to that many places!

Not many considering I'm 57. I don't think I have the travel bug, I certainly don't like the travel part of travelling.

Totting it up I think it's 14 including Wales and Scotland. I've only been outside of Europe twice - both times to the US.

Not many, I think the following is my list. Might be forgetting a couple. I was meant to be going to Croatia and Morocco for work recently but both cancelled because of lock down. I’ve been to 3 of the Canary Islands and to Menorca but they’re all Spain.

UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Russia, Vatican City.

USA, Canada

Egypt

I’m using the standard definition of country so not counting England, Wales, Scotland and NI as countries- have been to all these regions.

Oh forgot Belgium!

16 excluding Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Obviously 19 if included!

I wasn’t counting Wales, England & Scotland separately.

I did forget the Vatican though so 27. Or 29 if we’re counting the different parts of the UK too.

I've been to more countries but only either driving through it or only staying in the airport, so I don't think that counts.

Just remembered 2 more! So 31. Sadly I don’t remember much about most of them as I was so young.

Lived in 6 if you include UK.

I live in England and have visited Scotland and Wales only so 2. I'm in my 50s and have no intention of adding to this - looks like I'm in a minority with all you globetrotters 😀

Yep that's the plan to get them all ticked off! I have Serbia, Macedonia, Andorra, Monaco, Andorra, Luxembourg and Lichtenstein remaining. I was counting Cyprus as Europe so actually still have 7 to go
