How many countries have you visited?

Hi, my friend from school is very well travelled and is now a high end travel agent. She was saying recently that she has been to 47 countries.

Many of them are long haul types ie Australia, Japan, lots of Caribbean and Europe and some really exotic places such as Bora Bora.

I worked out I’ve been to 12 countries which I think is probably more than average. I have an auntie in her 60’s who has never left the country and know a few others who are the same.

It would be really interesting to hear about other people’s experiences. Included are England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales.

Whilst I was very impressed with my friend’s tally, she said one of her bosses has been to almost 70. I just couldn’t imagine even wanting to go to that many places!

Thanks for reading.

@Destroyedpeople it really doesn't matter what you think. If you get a list of countries of the world there are 195.
They do not include;
Scotland
Wales
Or Northern Ireland....because they are not!! Simple really. They make up the U.K.!!Confused

purpleleotard · 08/07/2020 16:32

Only here for a short time so thought it would be nice to have a look around.

cptartapp · 08/07/2020 16:32

Iceland and the Maldives joint favourite.

Destroyedpeople · 08/07/2020 16:34

They are nations Caro. The uk is not. I thought my explanation was clear enough.

Destroyedpeople · 08/07/2020 16:36

When I travel to England I am plainly in a different country because it's full of people like you..Grin

EmpressSuiko · 08/07/2020 16:37

Well this makes me so sad, only 2 for me.
My parents never had any money for travelling or holidays abroad and unfortunately I’ve followed in their footsteps, I’d love to be able to take my children to places, my dream holiday would be a trip to Japan!

@CarlottaValdez

Accidentalaccountant

I think 7 on your list are not countries. Not counting your last 4.

Which 7 are not countries - not including the last 4?
Destroyedpeople · 08/07/2020 16:42

Fgs Caro I never once ever uttered the word 'independent ' you did.
Do you just like arguing or something?

carorganiser1 · 08/07/2020 16:42

Do you know I can't even recall what this d
Argument was about...wasnt it you getting annoyed and saying that England Scotland and Wales 'weren't countries'? And me pointing out that they were as they were nations?
Then you just got disagreeable.

Ylvamoon · 08/07/2020 16:48

15 all in Europe, can't face long haul flights! But I have seen the coast of Africa (Morocco) from a sailing ship!

merryhouse · 08/07/2020 16:49

France, Germany, Italy, Iceland, Ireland, Denmark, Spain, and all four regions of the UK.

Exactly the same list as nearly 28 years ago....

Missed Croatia this summer so 34 next year!

Mominatrix · 08/07/2020 17:13

Oh, I forgot to add Vatican City as a separate country - 23, then.

pinesofrome · 08/07/2020 17:33

At least 65. Backpacked round the world on a shoestring in my 20s then travelled in style on a world cruise when DH and I retired. We both love travelling and have worked abroad. Many amazing experiences but unforgettable highlights are Myanmar, Bora Bora and Nias Island.
