How many countries have you visited?

Hi, my friend from school is very well travelled and is now a high end travel agent. She was saying recently that she has been to 47 countries.

Many of them are long haul types ie Australia, Japan, lots of Caribbean and Europe and some really exotic places such as Bora Bora.

I worked out I’ve been to 12 countries which I think is probably more than average. I have an auntie in her 60’s who has never left the country and know a few others who are the same.

It would be really interesting to hear about other people’s experiences. Included are England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales.

Whilst I was very impressed with my friend’s tally, she said one of her bosses has been to almost 70. I just couldn’t imagine even wanting to go to that many places!

I think I have visited about 17 countries but I don't count Ireland as a 'different country' as that is where my family are from. Nor Scotland and Wales.

Also people saying they have visited 'Yugoslavia' should know better if they are so well travelled. Even if it was pre 89.

24 so far, still a long way to go but as the name suggests I like to travel.

I used to want to 'travel' more but then I realised that is narrows the mind. I mean the way i heard a spoilt uni student whose mother had paid for him to go partying in India and morocco talking to townie kids who hadn't been so far....made me feel a bit nauseous tbh.

So 17 in total. I'm 29. Not as many as I would have liked. I haven't spent much time in any continent apart from Europe. I'd like to do more travelling after this pandemic.

Should have been adding China and Hong Kong to the list this summer. Instead we are going to France by train.

I was supposed to be going to Germany next month to add to the list but it probably won't happen.

44. Would have been 47 by now if it wasn't for covid! Had planned a jaunt to Slovenia and a babymoon to Russia. Oh well.

I love travelling. I lived in Asia for almost 4 years so travelled a lot then.

My DH was aiming for 100 countries by the time he reached 30 years, but only managed to do 76 by then, so his new goal is 100 countries by 40 years. He hasn't got all that long until then though and we're about to have a baby so our efforts andnopportunity might imminently plummet!

I haven’t been on holiday for years though. Got one booked for October but who knows whether we’ll get to go or not.

Only 11, I should travel more! But some of those I've been back to multiple times, and as we have a holiday home abroad we do tend to go there a lot.

Around 75. I took a few gap years, lived abroad and travelled a bit for work.

We spent two of my maternity leaves travelling so visited about 30 countries as a family.

25, would love to do more when finances and time allow.....

I've been to 33 countries and had a goal of going to every continent before I was 30. Spent my30th birthday in Antarctica. Want to now sail the world but partner is not keen. Do I might have to go to every continent again by the time I'm 60. Travelling has given me the best experiences of my life. Chased sharks in the Galapagos, punched by a kangaroo in Australia, walked the wall of China, black water rafting in New Zealand, climbed a volcano in Chile, saw a chin strap penguin hatch in Antarctica. The world is epic!
