How many countries have you visited?

Hi, my friend from school is very well travelled and is now a high end travel agent. She was saying recently that she has been to 47 countries.

Many of them are long haul types ie Australia, Japan, lots of Caribbean and Europe and some really exotic places such as Bora Bora.

I worked out I’ve been to 12 countries which I think is probably more than average. I have an auntie in her 60’s who has never left the country and know a few others who are the same.

It would be really interesting to hear about other people’s experiences. Included are England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales.

Whilst I was very impressed with my friend’s tally, she said one of her bosses has been to almost 70. I just couldn’t imagine even wanting to go to that many places!

People living in Europe are much more easily able to rack up the numbers though because there are so many destinations with just a few hours of flying. If you live in Australia for example, there are very few countries with this kind of easy accessibility.

I’ve never really thought about the exact number! Just totted up and I’ve been to 21 countries, about half of those are in Europe.

I spent a year travelling in my mid 20s. Best time of my life. I’m now 28 and there are still so many places I want to visit. I’m hoping to go to Finland for my 30th birthday next year.

My favourite country I’ve been to so far is New Zealand, without a doubt.

Not counting airport stopovers 5: US, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland - though the last two were both less than a day to visit family who were visiting the area. My only travel goals involves going to Iceland for the solar eclipse in a few years time and maybe a week in a British dark sky park.

I've joked before that I'm one of the least travelled immigrants ever and that a childhood with a lot of traveling around the US (though never west of the Mississippi) and the frequency of my 'getting lost' while doing so has resulted in a lack of any kind of wanderlust. I'm fine watching videos of interesting places, even better by those who live there, than to visit in person.

Just remembered another 4 that I have visited and lived in [ Prague ] Czech Republic, France, Poland, Denmark.. Getting up towards 30 now.

29. Have many more I want to visit & hope to see at least 50.

32 and I'm 32! We did quite abit of travelling in our early 20s. Have young children at the minute and not much money so travelling is on hold. But all being well hope to start again in a few years. I love seeing new places and cultures. I really hope to pass that on to my children.

Forgot to add there is an app called Been where you can add all the places you have been to. It tells you the % of the world you have visited and it's nice to add new places.

@Destroyedpeople Why should people saying they have been to Yugoslavia "know better"? It was a country for most of the 20th century.

I’ve been to 22 countries if I can count Canada, a few hours at Niagara Falls. I like going back to the same places so I’ve been to some a few times and there are several at the top of my bucket list for further exploration.
