I used to know a yellow Labrador called Briggs. Admittedly, that was the name on the tag on his collar so was most likely the name of his family. But it seemed to suit him ( as far as I was concerned) so he was always Briggs to me, whatever his actual name may have been. If I ever have a male yellow Labrador, he will be called Briggs.

We have a tortoise called Terence Turtleburger because the person we got him from said you should hold him like he's a burger you're about to take a bite from.

Years ago i had a rescue cat called Baboo.

And more recently a majestic pedigree cat called Mr. Poo Poo - which quickly turned into Monsieur Poo Poo (heavy french accent) because, for some reason, he 'spoke' in a heavy french accent.

My cats are called, Puck, Hallow and Hex.

If I were an old lady living alone, I would name my cats after familiars - Vinegar Tom, Sacke-and-Sugar, Pyewhacket, Peck-in-the-Crowne etc. But my teenagers wouldn't have it. Sad

DishingOutDone · 04/07/2020 13:12

I've always said if I get another dog I'd like to call it Cement, after the grey dog in the Clarice Bean books. Maybe that only works with grey dogs though.

My favourite from the thread so far is Vyvyan!
