What is the best or most original name you have known for a family pet or other animal?

I used to know a yellow Labrador called Briggs. Admittedly, that was the name on the tag on his collar so was most likely the name of his family. But it seemed to suit him ( as far as I was concerned) so he was always Briggs to me, whatever his actual name may have been. If I ever have a male yellow Labrador, he will be called Briggs.

One of my neighbours has a dog called Gary and it cracks me up hearing them over the field shouting him

An ex of mine had a cat called Graham. A shop which sells handmade dog treats by me makes dog birthday cakes, one of the names on the flyer is for a Gaspode

Aunt has a tortoise called Ian Rush.

We have a cat named Monsieur Fluffy Pants.

My parents had a dog when I was a baby called Poggle. I've no idea where they got the name from.

I love the thought of someone shouting Gary across a field.

I once met a pug called Dave. For some reason I found that hilarious!

If I have another male large dog he will be called Zeus

A hen called Attila. Attila the Hen.

I knew a massive bruiser of a tomcat with scarred ears called .... Lucy. Wrongly sexed kitten, the owners said he only answered to Lucy and so didn't change his name.

I met a daschund called Stephen last summer.

When I was married we inherited a cat called Socks. We then got a hamster and called him Shoes.

A gerbil called Mouse because we used to say to the cat "where's the mouse?"

Rats at different times called Lavender and Lilac and Marmite and Tiptoe.

Cats called Barnaby and Troy after characters in Midsomer Murders.

My current cat is called Haribo. We both love Tangfastics but that was a bit of a mouthful.

I've known cats called Eartha Kitt and The Great Catsby. I also knew a dog called Margaret Thatcher who was very eager to please and did exactly as she was told.

We had two goldfish when ds’s were little. The boys chose their names....dog and cat. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yorkshire terrier named Cerberus.

We've got a Spud and Kylo Ren, two idiot spaniels. Spud was going to be Idris but looked like a baked potato as a puppy

As a child we had guinea pigs called Pinky and Porky.

We had a cat called Garvaghy, after Garvaghy Rd in NI,where there used to be disputes about 11 July marches through Catholic areas. My husband comes from that area, and Patrick Kielty at the time had a dog on his show dressed up in Orangeman robes called Garvaghy When the cat went into next door’s garden, we would say it’s his traditional route and he should be allowed.

I knew someone once with a black cat called Spock.

Suited perfectly.

Also my friend had a dog named Snog! DH wouldnt take him out to the park though (wonder why?!)

I heard of a tortoise called Voldetort which I thought was hilarious. And someone with a pair of cats called Skimbleshanks and Mr Mistoffelees.
