I used to know a yellow Labrador called Briggs. Admittedly, that was the name on the tag on his collar so was most likely the name of his family. But it seemed to suit him ( as far as I was concerned) so he was always Briggs to me, whatever his actual name may have been. If I ever have a male yellow Labrador, he will be called Briggs.

I hate ironic human names like Colin the cat or Dave the dog. I don't know why, but I just don't find them original or funny.

I love OTT and puntastic names though, so this thread has been a fun read.

Years ago there was a young lad who kept shouting out in the park ‘Snow Cub Lemon Drop’. I wasn’t quite sure who he was shouting at until I saw the most majestic white dog start bounding towards him. No idea what breed the dog was but he was glorious and the name really suited him.

I actually thought it was most original name I’ve ever heard for a pet until I read this thread Grin

My 2 old boys who died last year were called Barry and Brian. I now have Wilson and Nessa (cats)

My0My · 04/07/2020 15:52

We had a ginger cat called Tizer. Our cat that climbed up everything as a kitten was Sherpa.

We’ve had a few racehorses and the sky is the limit naming them. Having the full pedigree gives lots of possibilities.

@WildRosie I like Briggs, it's very dignified. Like an elderly butler.
A child in my family has just hatched a butterfly that's been named Frank.
