When and where were your clubbing days?

London based for me. Started off in places like SW1, Club UK, MOS, The Satellite Club, Cafe de Paris. Then progressed on to The End, Turnmills and Fabric via Bagleys and The Cross.

I have so much nostalgia for those carefree irresponsible days pre children. I have continued going to gigs and festivals but haven’t set foot in a club for a long long time. I think it would be a totally different vibe nowadays with everyone totally preoccupied with their phones.

What were your favourite venues/club nights?

Trade at Turnmills, Frantic And Peach at Camden Palace.
Ahhh, those were the days, care free, kid free and out with friends all weekend.
I haven’t been to a festival recently but have been to frantic and the egg since having children.

Started off in Manchester at the Hacienda, then moved more to the free party scene during uni days.

I think any club now would make me feel like an old gimmer with everyone about 18.

I really like the hacienda classical nights - old 90s house tunes played on an orchestra - everyone is my age and it only goes on for a few hours, at a reasonable hour too so I can be home by 11!

98/99 Aussie backpacker in London. The Fridge, Turnmills, Bagleys, a bunch of other places i can't remember. I got involved with people who would run 48 hour house parties in NW London that were amazing. And was there when Frantic started, before it hit Camden Palace. Frantic then extended to Sydney and started doing 6 hour clubbing harbour cruises in the afternoon. That ended up being my favourite type of clubbing: start at midday, have your fun, boat docks at 6pm, go to the pub for your come down party

Mid nineties to mid noughties.

Fridge in Brixton; Escape from Samsara and other techno nights, Heaven megatripolis, bring a bongo and get in free what’s not to likeGrin
Club U.K. till it got busted. Misery of Pound (god I hated that place) and later on Fabric which had an amazing sound to it.

Rollergirl11 · 26/06/2020 19:50

I never really got in to The Fridge. Was a bit too much trance for my liking. Did like Mass in Brixton though. And later on Plan B and The Telegraph.

@lonelycrab I always thought Ministry was overrated. Fabric and The End both had the best sound systems without a doubt.

Bugged out at Cream in Liverpool. Happy days ☺️

Thinkpinkstink · 26/06/2020 19:53

I used to go to Samsara (and later XLR8) at the Fridge too @Lonelycrab - also Movement at Mass, Fabric and Turnmills.

Lonelycrab · 26/06/2020 19:57

Yeah the fridge was definitely a bit tie die crusty trance most of the time. Ministry was just full of idiots I thought, and bloody expensive. The end was good but had a slightly weird feel but deffo good system.

Happy Jax under London Bridge was grimey, there was another club I went to in the arches about a decade later but I can’t remember..,

Rockandgrohl · 26/06/2020 19:58

Rollergirl11 · 26/06/2020 19:59

@SweepTheHalls Yes to Bugged Out! One of my favourite club nights. I knew the two guys who started it, who also founded the magazine Jockeyslut.

Metro's Cardiff in the late 90s. Rock and Indie. It was brilliant.

Witchofzog · 26/06/2020 20:12

I was a hybrid raver indie kid dance music person so it was Labrynth, Bagleys, The Cross, The Rhythm Station in Aldershot of all places, The Sanctuary for the huge raves. Wow - I was a totally different person then. I miss those days a lot when I think about them

Ellomello · 26/06/2020 20:13

Ah this thread is bringing back many happy, if hazy, memories. Cynthia’s robot place was a favourite, as was Fabric and The End. My best nights ever though were Vague in Leeds - I occasionally fantasise about having a free pass to go back in time for a night.
