We need a new thread soon. How about "We're all going on a summer holiday"?

Bollss · 26/05/2020 16:51

I feel like one day the news will be that Corona has pretty much died out and there will still be MN threads about "the second wave"

SomewhereEast · 26/05/2020 17:02

I have no doubt there'll be people still holding out for a second wave in 2025.
Depressingly I think a small but vocal minority subconciously want a second wave to get one up on their ideological opponents. I'm as lefty liberal Remainer as they come, but some of what I'm hearing from my own side makes me uncomfortable in that regard.

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 17:08

Oh they will go back to brexit maybe.

"No black grapes in Aldi, that`ll be because of brexit" Any shortages of european foodstuffs will be for the same reason.

We have broken the rules three times today: how can we not go to look when DGS brings his shiny new bike to show us? He arrived in the car with his dad, then his mum and sister arrived on their bikes. My daughter and the kids decided to stay for lunch in the garden so (sshh) she left the children here whilst she went to buy lunch. They all disappeared later, but then called in again on their ride. Lastly my daughter has been back to collect her tomato plants. It actually seemed like a normal day for a change, although we are still SDing.

I tried to ask the Government for briefing, but unfortunately it wasn't chosen - I wanted to know what plans are in place for healthy 70+year olds once the 12 weeks is up.

BogRollBOGOF · 26/05/2020 17:15

I've had a passenger in my car. A&E nurse no less.
It's easy to social distance in a 7 seater. Wink

I have been known to strategically social distance the DCs in different rows of the car to stop them picking at each other when it's been one of those days even before there wasa pandemic Grin

Littlebelina · 26/05/2020 17:17

Waleshasgone, thanks for the maths games suggestion. Ds loved it. Unfortunately I hit a wall this afternoon so still didn't get much work done but it kept him busy!

DianneWhatcock · 26/05/2020 17:31

@MinnieMountain yes it needs to be called that !! Love it

@Nihiloxica just wanted to say thank you for backing me up on my other post, re the fb post x

Spudlet · 26/05/2020 17:34

Well, I was brave again and challenged a Facebook dementor who was being exceedingly gloomy about the chances of an event happening before 2021. Given that the organisers say they’re feeling increasingly positive about things, writing off the next 6 months seems a bit previous!

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 17:34

Well went and did some shopping, garden centre, B&M and Iceland, had to do the shuffle around some people who have still not grasped the social distancing thing. But hey ho was better than staying in.

MinnieMountain · 26/05/2020 17:47

I'll set it up now

MinnieMountain · 26/05/2020 17:51

New thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3920658-Were-all-going-on-a-summer-holiday

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 18:02

Think the heading needs amending to include anti dementors for those who wish to find it again.

PickAChew · 26/05/2020 19:20

@littlebelina you may find this useful

Littlebelina · 26/05/2020 19:27

Thanks pickachew we've got some canvas pumps for her now and fingers crossed shoe shops will be open soon (even if the experience might not be great)

shinynewapple2020 · 26/05/2020 20:23

@duckme I live in West Midlands and have been out to a few countryside areas for walk and picnic, car parks are open and not too crowded either but we didn't go on weekend.

shinynewapple2020 · 26/05/2020 21:54

@Weedsnseeds1 thank you for that clarification about Weston Suoer Mare hospital and there not being a corresponding outbreak in the resort - it's our closest coast and I was hoping for a trip down there soon but that has got me concerned.

shinynewapple2020 · 26/05/2020 22:11

@Institutkarite. Sssh don't tell everyone Wink

bulletjournalbilly · 29/05/2020 07:21
