Bogroll I have been idly speculating on cycling related deaths, injuries and hospitalisation.
There are so many people wobbling along who have clearly not been near a bike in 30 years, incredibly unfit people who have decided to attempt a reenactment of the Tour De France and people without helmets on fixed wheel bikes with no brakes, that, coupled with the new national speed limit of 97mph, it must be carnage on the roads!

MagdaS · 26/05/2020 12:56

My cleaner resigned before Christmas after working for us for nearly 10 years, then my husband was out of work for a bit, so we thought we could save a bit of money, then this happened. Nearly 6 months without a cleaner. If my previous cleaner was still cleaning I’d have her back in a heartbeat. I don’t really want to try and find a new one at the moment.

Hence, my house is not as clean as I might like.

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 13:00

DS sold his bike on FB market place despite a good price he had hagglers, we said hold firm there is not a second hand bike to be had within 100 miles. So he did. First bloke who came said no. Second one said yes. God knows what is wobbling around Wales.

BarkandCheese · 26/05/2020 13:02

weeds I was driving along behind a chap who could barely cycle the other day, his feet kept slipping off the pedals and he was wobbling around like crazy. He made tots whose stabilisers have just come off look like Chris Froome.

Spudlet · 26/05/2020 13:03

I think anyone doing sports massage, physios and so on, are set to make a killing when we’re allowed to go back to them. I had a sports massage all booked for the day lockdown started (😫) and I am now getting desperate! It will hurt sooooo much but afterwards my legs are going to feel soooooo good (you know, once the bruising goes 😳).

Couple all the people like me with all the people who started new lockdown regimes and there’s going to be quite the market for a good old therapeutic pummelling!

Institutkarite · 26/05/2020 13:05

I'm hoping that my family will visit in June/July. My husband wants to go back to our home in Wales at some point, I'm not bothered I'll just stay here in Portugal soaking up the sun.
I really can't see the enforced quarantine on return to the U.K. working.
How will they Police it?
It seems really stupid to me that flights have been arriving into the U.K. all year but now they're going to say that people must be quarantined.
I don't post much because I'm not in the U.K. but I've really enjoyed all these threads. There may be Dementors here but I don't understand Portuguese so that goes over my head.

MinnieMountain · 26/05/2020 13:08

I nearly cried with relief when our cleaner came back last week. I've got too used to have a clean house.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 26/05/2020 13:23

@Dowser thanks for getting it. I just can’t believe I’m not allowed to see friends and family without breaking the law and Mark Drakeford is happy for the nation to just sit here forever regardless of the improvement in rates and growing evidence there won’t be a second peak. It feels hopeless and even when I meet up with people they don’t really get why I’m down and worried. I feel guilty that I only had 1 dd so she’s not got a sibling to play with, I’m worried about what’s happening beyond COVID and I’m green eyed at the freedoms across the border. That’s no way to be.

Although I am glad to see you getting back to normal really! Misery may like company but it’s nice to hear there’s life after lockdown Smile

Orangeblossom78 · 26/05/2020 13:23

It can cause issues in families can't it. Similar to Brexit in a way. Just on phone to my dad who was on about Scottish independence. OK. Had to bite my tongue

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 26/05/2020 13:28

I've discovered a downside to stretching the rules. Every time they relax them, I think "fucks sake, I'm already doing that!" So nothing really seems to improve.

The shops reopening is kind of good but I don't want to have to constantly stand behind taped lines and follow one way systems so that isn't exactly filling me with joy either.

Dowser · 26/05/2020 13:30

Oh dear
I’ve just seen how Tenerife is preparing to control the beaches.
I’m literally trying not to cry.

In Arona, Las Vistas, Los Cristianos and Las Galletas will open from 10.00 to 6.00. To control capacity and safety distance, three zones are established. One for use by a single person, another for couples and groups of three or four and another for families of more than five. There will be a specific space for seniors and people with functional diversity and mobility problems.

Capacity will be limited, being controlled by a single entrance and exit. It will be obligatory to bring a personal towel and no bucket and spade, ball games or mats will be allowed. Sunbed and umbrella services will not be opened, nor will showers, but urinals will. It is forbidden to bring food or drinks.

HepzibahGreen · 26/05/2020 13:32

Just checking in so I can read the thread later. I need to pride DC off the evil x box before their heads melt.
I booked a caravan for mid July at the coast last week. Technically DC still have "school" but I have taken a punt that high schools not going back this year so we may as well be at the seaside. I don't care if nothings open, we'll bring food from home.
The actual excitement of being in a different place is going to somehow get me thru the next 6 weeks..
We promise not to shit in any buckets. Halo

Drivingdownthe101 · 26/05/2020 13:32

How joyless, Dowser

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 13:36

haha saw this.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 26/05/2020 13:37

@justasking111 I hope his lettuces shoot and rabbits eat his carrots!

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 13:39

Sir Mark the defender of the allotment. Grin

savehalloween · 26/05/2020 13:45

But he said Welsh ministers wanted to do something about the "heartache" caused by family members being unable to see each other if they could.

That seems somewhat positive, although I've got my hopes up before and am not doing it to myself again.

That said, I shall be taking my DD to see my mum on Friday anyway. The first time we've seen each other in 11 weeks.

SomewhereEast · 26/05/2020 13:46

I'm trying VERY HARD not to think about the fact we should be in Portugal right now Angry

CupCupGoose · 26/05/2020 14:12

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a messy house without anyone coming over to make me panic clean.

My baby has his immunisations thus afternoon. DH is back at work and obviously no one to have the older dc for me. The surgery have said that my DC can come and sit in the waiting room but have to wear masks. Why do I feel so angry?

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 14:26

When we first locked down I kept busy skirtings, walls, everything cleaned, was a show home, looking today I realised they all need doing again. Cannot be bothered though. Who bloody cares, who will see it, no friends parties or any kind of celebration to motivate me.

I am having visitors this afternoon though, Drakeford can stuff his deafening silence on a way forward. I am not a fan of Sturgeon but she stands up and speaks to her people unlike the allotment holder.

MinesaPinot · 26/05/2020 14:29

Dowser that sounds miserable ☹️

Springersrock · 26/05/2020 14:30

My house is a tip as well. I just CBA to tidy it up. As fast as I clean one bathroom, it’s covered in wet towels again. I’ve given up.

I spent the first week on furlough in a fit of domesticity madly cleaning and tidying, but ran out of steam

I’m back at work now and it’s manic so other than making dinner and cleaning up the kitchen I have absolutely no motivation

My daughter tidied her room last night and bought down 2 weeks worth of cups and plates and abandoned them all over the kitchen. I wasn’t impressed when I saw that lot at 11pm last night.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 26/05/2020 14:32

One thing I've noticed recently - on Facebook and real life- is people taking shopping trollies home with them so they can use the same one each time. Is this common or just in this bit of the SW? It seems mad even by current standards.

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 14:40

Tenerife can do one, not one UK beach is considering such draconian rules. I believe the canarians have suffered greatly under lockdown the police forces have gone nuts there. Try somewhere else Dowser.

IcedPurple · 26/05/2020 14:48

If Tenerife and the rest of Spain insist on such strict rules then I don't think many people will bother. Esp as the whole airline experience is going to be even more hassle than usual. Beach holidays are meant to be about relaxation and an escape from the mundanity of normal life but if you're going to be policed on the beach and also put up with social distancing in hotels and restaurants etc then maybe best to stay home. Not saying the measure they are proposing are uncalled for, just that they don't make a holiday sound all that enticing.
