I tried for the first time this morning, lasted 13 mins Blush but I did feel wonderful afterwards, like I had a great start to my day!

HappyLemonSadLemon · 06/05/2020 19:26

Yes {[https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/3846994-couch-to-5k-run-1-done. here]]

There are some graduates on there but also some people at the beginning as well. I'm on week 4.

I’ve just started week 4. Really surprised myself that I didn’t want to die after the 5 mins!

I am not looking forward to week 5 when it jumps from 8 mins to 20 mins!!

jaYne15 · 06/05/2020 19:42

Yes on my second week but it’s going well. It is hard but if I don’t do it now I never will.

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 06/05/2020 19:43

Thank you :)

Is Week 4 really 8 minutes Shock

I'm starting again tomorrow. I finished week 2 at the start of lockdown and let it drop due to changes in work hours. Determined this time.

Readysetcake · 06/05/2020 19:51

I just due to do week 7 run 2 tomorrow. 25 minutes! This my third time doing C25k over the last few years (injuries babies and winter have always reset to the start). The first time I did the programme If you’d have said to me at week 4 you’ll be doing 25 mins nonstop In 3 weeks time I wouldn’t have believed them! It’s such a great programme. Good luck!

bigchanges1 · 06/05/2020 19:53

I did week 6 run 2 today. I would have never thought it possible 6 weeks ago. Have you started it yet op?

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 06/05/2020 19:55

I don't Grin

Yes, today I finished Wk3 R3 but dearie me it was hard going. I'm thinking about doing Wk3 again if Wk 4 is 8 minutes.

I repeated weeks when I first did it if I really struggled with a week. Sometimes it a mental block though and your more than physically capable. It’s just the fear of the unknown!
Do you listen to music or anything when you do it. I find I have to listen to podcasts or my mind will just focus on how out of breath I am. With a podcast I force myself to listen to what they are saying and the time goes quicker.

Readysetcake · 06/05/2020 20:03

Sorry for poor grammar. Trying to speed type as my dinner is ready!

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 06/05/2020 20:05

Enjoy your dinner!

I have the podcast (me and Michael are best buds) but probably should spend a bit of time putting together a proper playlist, because I go at the speed of the music and don't pace myself Blush

Hey summernights

Week 4 is just 5 minutes? But very doable!

I've just finished week 6 today, listening to Michael too ☺️ I'm going to marry him! (In my dreams obvs!)

Have you visited the One You website? It's very friendly, lots of great tips and support!

Good Luck! You can and are doing this 😁😁😁

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 06/05/2020 20:21

Thank goodness, I misread a post upthread and thought it was 8!

He's a bit dreamy, I had a crush last Olympics season Blush I don't like letting him down now Grin

I know it's only been 3 weeks, but I do see a difference in myself and I am so much more confident about myself. Today I went out in a vest top. A vest top! I'd have never done that 4 weeks ago.

Bigchanges1 I did week 6 run 2 today too! It was hard but I did it Smile

bigchanges1 · 07/05/2020 12:51

Ilikefresias It certainly made me feel good when it was done 😁

I’m also doing the NHS strengthening & flexibility podcast on the days I’m not doing a run. I’m up to week 5, session 2 & now managing to do squats, press ups & pull ups - I’m amazed myself!

DinosApple · 07/05/2020 14:46

Ooh I'm on week 2. I did the whole thing a couple of times after kids about 7 years ago but lapsed since.
Running isn't really my thing at all, but because cake is, I'm doing it again.

I'm quite enjoying it this time round, I've taken my 10 yo with me once a week, both DC run 2 and 3rd I get to go on my own Grin.

DC1 is a great runner, for a start she can run and talk which is impressive, and she's quick.

The days with both are more of a challenge. I do the running with big un, then leave youngest with her scooter under a tree/field entrance. This is the best way to get through.

Run 3, on my own, is bliss 😂.

Oooh I must look into these. I never thought I'd be going a run- may add a push up to my list of new skills!

Yes, well done everyone! Let's keep it up.

Today was my rest day. Tomorrow should be Wk4 R1, but I'm quite apprehensive. I feel like if I get half way and have to stop I'll be very demoralised so might do Wk 3 again. Decisions decisions.

OP posts:
bigchanges1 · 08/05/2020 18:41

@OhTheseSummerNiiiiights did you do W4 R1 today or choose W3 again?

Forkrightorf · 08/05/2020 21:27

New runner here 👋 starting week 3 tomorrow. My ankles and knees are KILLING ME, is that normal for somebody who hasn't run before? I'm 31, average weight and do lots of walking but have never run. Not sure whether to go and push through tomorrow or have another rest day to see if the pain eases off? Would really like to go and stick with it!

Hi. Can I join? I did week 2 run 1 yesterday and will try and do another one tomorrow! I did it about 5 years ago and then gave up! So starting from scratch again!
Which ones is everyone doing? NHS, or other apps?

bigchanges1 · 10/05/2020 11:43

@FerreroRocherAreAmazing I’m using NHS podcasts. I doing W7 R1 today. I do C5K every other day. The other days, I doing another NHS podcast for strengthening & flexibility.

How are you finding it so far?
