Looking for shoulders to lean on!

@DinosApple that sounds awful, poor you. Don't let it out you off after all your hard work though!

I did w5r3 yesterday, pleased I managed it then went for a (slow) 5km walk shortly after with a friend. Not too sore today so feeling good.

I've returned to the treadmill which in some ways is harder as I see the time ticking by and cannot enjoy the view but I think it is slightly better for my frame (I have a bad back and generally get sore with no access to my osteopath or acupuncturist at the moment).

DinosApple · 10/06/2020 15:14

@mooching
Thank you, I will carry on! And go back to my usual route.

I've wondered about a treadmill run, I worry I would clock watch too much, but there's benefit in having a smooth surface to run on!

Horehound · 10/06/2020 20:38

I did my week four run 1..found it really hard. I managed the first two runs army 9km/h but for the next two I had to slow down to 8.5 then 7.5 for the last 5mins! I was blowing out my arse so I assume going forward I will not manage 9km/h again. Glad I di ld it though

Horehound · 10/06/2020 20:40

@Grouphugs I'm not sure anyone answered your question? How are you getting on? I think I'd have gone back two weeks in your situation

mooching · 10/06/2020 20:49

@horehound I have definitely got slower. Did w5r3 yesterday and was slow (7.2km/he then dropped for the last 5 mins) but I think once I'm more used to running 30
Min blocks eventually that pace will increase again. I notice week 6 is not a block run again but 2 x 10 runs I think with the intention of increasing pace again? We will see!

Ohhgreat · 10/06/2020 21:29

@DinosApple hope you're healing up ok!
@FerreroRocherAreAmazing I too did week 6 run 2 today, managed it but oh my did my lower legs hurt at the end. Was not impressed when sarah millican told me from now on it would be only long runs! I know I ran 20mins last week but I still dont believe I can if you know what I mean?

tinyidiot · 10/06/2020 22:17

@Horehound thank you, that's exactly what I did, plus training every 3 days instead of every other day. I am re-completing the end of week 4 and did w5 run 1 without too much trouble earlier this week.

Onto w5 run 2 (again) tomorrow! No pain. I can sort of feel an echo of where it hurt but no actual discomfort, long may it continue!

banjaxxed · 12/06/2020 11:18

@horehand well done!

@mooching week 6 has a block run at the end again (25 mins) but runs 1 & 2 are run/walk but longer times.

I did W6 R1 this morning in the rain. I averaged across the whole run/walk time 7.5km per hour

At this stage, for me it's about completion rather than pace. If I get to the end and can run for 30 mins, that's when I will look to get faster Wink

Ohhgreat · 13/06/2020 13:38

So last night I did week 6 run 3...I ran for 25mins! Never would have believed I could do that.
Mind you when sarah millican cheerily announced "one minute left, why dont you try and pick up the pace" I was not impressed!!

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 13/06/2020 13:53

Hi everyone! Looks like everyone is doing brilliantly!

I did Wk8r2 this morning, it felt good- I think I was definitely going faster. Slightly demoralised by my weight though. I've been trying really hard during lockdown and I've only lost 2lbs.

OP posts:
BobbinThreadbare123 · 14/06/2020 10:28

I did Wk 6 Run 2 yesterday. Not good! It was far too muggy out and someone cycled into me deliberately. If I see him again, I'm pushing him off his bike. Might run in the evening tomorrow instead so it's cooler. The cyclist annoyed me a lot because I haven't had any issues where I live now with men shouting etc. I wouldn't have run where I used to live!

Ohhgreat · 14/06/2020 18:47

Week 7 run 1 done, worked out if I keep going every other day I'll do the final run on 30th June - finish the month a c25k graduate! Definitely want to do it now, even though I didnt enjoy todays run. Think it was too muggy for me.

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 15/06/2020 21:31

Bobbin that is shocking Shock Angry Good for you for keeping going.

You're so close Ohhgreat!

I had miscounted somewhere and did Wk 9 r1 today. Still in shock I think!

OP posts:
Ohhgreat · 16/06/2020 19:07

Week 9 seems so unachievable right now, well done @OhTheseSummerNiiiiights! Week 7 run 2 done, but oh it was such a struggle! I normally find the first 10mins hard and then I get into a rhythm, but not today, today it was just hard. Putting it down to being warm, and hoping run 3 is better, because right now I cant imagine stepping up to 28mins...

banjaxxed · 17/06/2020 11:16

@bobbin that's awful!

@OhTheseSummerNiiiiights you're nearly there! It seems a long way off but then I did W6 R3 today, 25 mins can't believe it! Was bloody slow though only 3.25Km in that 25 mins

OrlandoInTheWilderness · 17/06/2020 11:31

Forgot to update!!

We're now just completed w8r2, had a couple of days where we couldn't get out so are running 2x a week.
For this run I entered a virtual canix race of 5k. We did so well until I pressed stop okay the watch accidentally at 4.83k and didn't notice!!!! Oh well, I know we did it!
Ran without stopping for 34 mins and completed in 37. So pleased!!

FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 17/06/2020 11:50

Hi everyone!

@BobbinThreadbare123 that's awful! I hope your ok.
@Ohhgreat it's so hard at wk7 to break through that barrier. I did week 7run1 and I completely get what you are saying! I know I can physically do it but my mind is like no you cant! Towards the end I'm like I hate running but when I finish I'm like ok that wasnt so bad! Although today I finished and I was tingly in my feet! That was weird!
Well done @OrlandoInTheWilderness! That's a good achievement!
Good luck everyone!!!!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 17/06/2020 13:43

Well done everyone!

I'm alright - more cheesed off really. Guy was smoking a spliff as well. I did yell 'dickhead' at him Grin which was un-classy but necessary, I feel!

FINISHED!!!! I'm absolutely boiling but really proud of myself. Never thought I'd do it. Well done to everyone doing this - if I can do it anyone can!

FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 28/06/2020 11:06

Well done@LidlDonkey!!! I have had a week and half off as I had pulled a muscle
Went back and did week 7 run 2 and I did it! So it shows your stamina is still there after a break. It's so much easier running when its cooler like this. I now just need to finish the programme!! Keep going everyone and well done again!!!

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 28/06/2020 11:13

I am so sorry I abandoned the thread! Keep up the good work everyone.

I have officially GRADUATED 🥳🥳🥳

I have even kept it up without Michael to help me. So proud of myself!

Fantastic @OhTheseSummerNiiiiights !!

W8 R1 done for me, 5 to go Grin

allyouneedis · 28/06/2020 12:36

Did week 7, run 3 during the week. I only managed to run 25 minutes straight once out of the 3 runs Other 2 I had to pause at 16 minutes and 20 minutes for around 2 minutes. I keep getting an awful stitch which Sanj is telling me is because I don’t drink enough water. I will have to repeat week 7 I think cause I’m definitely not ready for 28 minutes yet. Well done everyone who has kept going!
