Looking for shoulders to lean on!

Wow well done @Rosie2000 for completing it! And everyone else for keeping going. W4 R1 complete this morning, I cannot believe I can run for 5 minutes! Does anybody enjoy running yet? I enjoy the fresh air and time with DS (I have 4 DC so 1 on 1 time is rare!) and nearly enjoy the running - but not quite Grin

Rosie2000 · 18/05/2020 15:32

Thank you- I cannot say I enjoy it but it’s nice to be out in the fresh air. I also have 4 dcs and I’m on my own so it’s nice to do something for myself Smile

Musicalmistress · 18/05/2020 16:18

@Thighmageddon there's me been doing it right all along 😂🤣😂
I've definitely got the slow jog thing going on!

Horehound · 18/05/2020 23:26

I did w2R2 today and I still found it hard mid way through.
I can see myself repeating this week before moving on.

My knees hurt and my right ankle hurts but my husband said that should get better the more weight I lose. I need proper running shoes though.

Dragonfruits · 18/05/2020 23:38

Hi folks, well done to everyone! I am planning to start later this week and am feeling quite nervous. I’m going to go quite early in the morning as I’m self conscious and feel like that’ll be the quietest time.

So looking for a bit of advice for those that go out first thing. Should I be eating anything first? I normally have cereal for breakfast but don’t want to get up at the crack of dawn to eat that and then wait for it to digest. Would a banana be ok then breakfast when I get back?

Yankathebear · 18/05/2020 23:56

I’m on w1r2 tomorrow. I’m in awe of you all!
I’ve started before but gave up by week 3.
I tell myself that I don’t have time or energy for running but I do enjoy it while I’m trying! I like the slow jog clip!

Forkrightorf · 19/05/2020 07:36

@Dragonfruits I run first thing. Mostly so I can leave everyone in bed - if I got caught up helping everyone get dressed/fed/homeschooled I'd never leave! We usually just have a banana or a pear before we leave, then breakfast and coffee after. Good luck with your first run Smile

chunkyrun · 19/05/2020 07:58

I run 6/7ish it's really quiet early morning. I don't bother eating anything before I go. Just get breakfast and a coffee when I get back. Good incentive to run faster

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 19/05/2020 09:15

You can do it yanka!

Dragonfruits I usually go in the morning and don’t eat anything first, but that is mainly to avoid setting off my DC’s ‘there’s food on the go’ radar.

I was so nervous at first and felt like an absolute plonker. I haven’t lost any weight but I feel so much less self conscious. I went out in a vest top(!) when it was sunny!

Finished Wk 5 r3.... TWENTY minutes! Twenty! I had jelly legs when I stopped but I made it. This is honestly the best thing I’ve ever done.

That’s fantastic OhTheseSummerNiiiiights! I bet you feel amazing!

Forkrightorf · 19/05/2020 18:57

@OhTheseSummerNiiiiights 20 minutes is amazing, well done! I just can't imagine being able to do it!

banjaxxed · 19/05/2020 19:03

Can I join?

I just completed Week 2. Still can't see how it works but it does somehow and I am feeling raring to go for Week 3! Never thought I would feel like that about exercise

Reader1984 · 19/05/2020 19:14

2 months ago I struggled with week 1. I'm a size 18, and not built for running, although I did enjoy the gym/swim before lockdown.

Today I completed week 8! I'm super slow, and only covering 2.7km in 27.5 mins so not going to hit 5k! But so proud I've only got a week to go.

I have cereal about 7, then run about 8. My legs have been tired, but other than that, I'm feeling good. Stick at it everyone. It works!

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 19/05/2020 20:20

Congratulations Reader!

Thank you everyone. I am so proud of myself.

Come on in Banjaxed. Definitely some sort of voodoo magic involved, I never in my life thought I could do it!

Hi, hope it's OK to jump in Smile

I did W1R1 on Monday (I somehow managed to do W2R1 last week by accident as my first ever run 🤦🏼‍♀️) and I'm going to do W1R2 tomorrow.

I found it OK last time but I'm still really self conscious of people seeing me so keep trying to find the quietest possible roads Blush

Amazed at all of you further on in your journeys, well done!!

FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 20/05/2020 08:55

Well done @OhTheseSummerNiiiiights! That's amazing! Well done again!!

I just did week 4 run 1 and my legs felt like jelly at the end! Havent had that yet so hopefully at the end of week 4 they feel better! I felt proud as she pointed out I'm running more than walking!

Welcome @Skykavin and @banjaxxed! This group is so lovely and kind for all of us! Good luck and looking forward to hearing about your runs!

taraRoo · 20/05/2020 09:05

Well done everyone for doing so well! I've got to week 7. I'm sort of stuck here as it's not getting much easier and I'm reluctant to add more time before I have mastered this bit. I'm managing about 4K so still a bit to go. I've done week 7 twice now. Any hints on getting over this?

I do feel a bit less wobbly though. Not sure how I'll keep it up in this hot weather too

Skykavin · 20/05/2020 09:15

Wow that's amazing that you're doing 4K @taraRoo! Shock at the moment I can't see how I'll get to running the longer stretches but I guess I have to just trust the programme and keep going.

I got up and did W1R2 this morning, nice and early but it was warm even at 7.30am. I found my calves getting tired this time which I haven't experienced previously.

Musicalmistress · 20/05/2020 10:26

W5R2 done today & it was ok but super slow. My legs got a wee bit wobbly towards the end of the 2nd block of 8mins but I kept going.
Part of me is dreading the 20mins of run 3 but in the other hand I'm looking forward to seeing what I can actually do, I guess it's psychological as much as anything. Next run Fri so we'll see🙄

Dragonfruits · 20/05/2020 10:36

It’s so encouraging reading other peoples’ experiences Smile. I started the programme earlier this morning and was fine on just a banana. Enjoyed it more than I thought and wasn’t even that bothered when I ran past people!

Naemates · 20/05/2020 12:42

Today for the first time I actually went out and started C25k instead of sitting on my sofa reading these threads!

I took DH and swore at him at lot, but I managed to jog all the joggy bits - just.

I've reached nearly 19st Blush so was definitely encouraged by the other heavier joggers on here - thank you all!! I'm still hyped up on adrenaline so my apologies for the rambling post.

GrinGrinGrin

Thighmageddon · 20/05/2020 13:08

@Naemates really well done, it's so hot here I could never have dreamed myself out this morning.

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 20/05/2020 13:16

Hello everyone 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 Well done you all for getting this far! I’m amazed by the thought of week 7 still!

Musical I went sloooow. I also realised that my 4 favourite songs are about 5 minutes each, and thought of it that way!

You do get very adreneliney! I never thought I had endorphins until I started this 😋

OP posts:
Musicalmistress · 20/05/2020 13:18

Well done @Naemates I'm nearly 21stone & slow...but bloody determined! If I can do it so can you.

Musicalmistress · 20/05/2020 13:19

@OhTheseSummerNiiiiights good tip! I'm going to put together a playlist of songs I really like to try & motivate me/give me something else to focus on lol
