Looking for shoulders to lean on!

@skykavin

Thanks. I can't believe it either. I didn't think I could possibly do more than 10/15 mins. But it does work. I am finding week 7 difficult though a there are no breaks. I literally pray for a red man so I can get a rest!

I should say the 4K also includes the walking parts so I think I'm more like 3.5.

Horehound · 20/05/2020 18:31

Right week two completed but I did find it hard. I don't think I'll be able to manage three mins next week:s

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 21/05/2020 09:13

You could repeat a week Horehound? Or just give it a go and see, you’ll be surprised at what you can do!

OP posts:
Horehound · 21/05/2020 16:25

I guess I'll give it a go but I'm not sure I'll complete it. If it's too much yeh I guess I'll repeat.
Reading someone's post on here it said if you're out of breath you're going too fast but I'm not sure I agree with that. The whole point is to increase fitness and you won't do that not pushing yourself, I think anyway.
Hmm

Musicalmistress · 22/05/2020 08:52

@Horehound I think it's about how hard you push yourself - push too hard early on & you'll get disheartened & give up.
The programme is designed to build up the amount of time you can run for steadily and you need to pace yourself to complete some of the longer runs.
I've just completed my first 20min run - couldn't run the length of myself a month ago! I'm slow as hell, get quite out of breath initially but then my breathing settles into a rhythm & im finding I'm able to run for longer periods more comfortably so my fitness is def improving.

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 22/05/2020 09:24

Well done musicalmistress! what an achievement!

Before I entered my relationship with Michael Wink Laura definitely said you should be able to talk at the same time. Power walkers regularly overtake me...

@Dragonfruits I don’t eat, I just get a drink of water and then head out first thing.

I’ve just done week 4 run 2. I’m very very overweight so if I can do it anyone can.

bigchanges1 · 22/05/2020 09:27

I did it! Week 9 run 1 done! 30 minutes - I am amazed I can run for 30 minutes!! Grin

SudokuBook · 22/05/2020 09:28

I said exactly this. And the same again before I started week 4. You can do it!

SudokuBook · 22/05/2020 09:31

I wouldn’t say I enjoy the running but I enjoy the feeling after and am chuffed with myself. I’m in my late 40s and over 20 stone. I’m determined that I am going to come out of this pandemic a better person than when I went in and this is part of it.

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 22/05/2020 09:47

Amazing bigchanges! you must be so proud of yourself!

Yes to this 🙌🏻

Musicalmistress · 22/05/2020 11:29

@bigchanges1 well done that's amazing!!!
@SudokuBook me too but similar determination to get my butt moving! Well done you for making the decision.

banjaxxed · 22/05/2020 11:45

Amazing @bigchanges1 Smile
@horehand I have just done W3 Run 1

The 3 mins was easier than I thought, oddly the time went quicker as there are only
4 bits of running

hotcrossbun4321 · 22/05/2020 11:47

Week 5 run 3 planned for this afternoon. Can’t quite believe it - I’m usually absolutely crap at sticking to anything. I’m now over halfway though. I’ve tried this before many times and maybe got to week 3....I’m feeling so much better than when I started and was embarrassed to be seen out as I’m 5 stone overweight and very wheezy

RedSoloCup · 22/05/2020 11:47

There is a really good UK fb group hope I'm allowed to share?

hotcrossbun4321 · 22/05/2020 14:13

And I just did it. Week 5r3 - 20 minutes of running non stop. And in this heat too - very proud of myself. It was a complete slow plod but something to build on. I told myself beforehand that I might need to try again if I couldn’t do it, but I stuck it out. I use Sarah millican as a coach and though I’m not a big fan of her comedy, she really seems to help when I run. Very encouraging.

Horehound · 22/05/2020 14:45

@Musicalmistress yes I think you are right.
I do think maybe I have gone too fast but I'm Gona give it a go at the pace I'm doing and if I can't then I know I need to slow down.
I deffo couldn't hold a conversation!
Well done on your 20 mins run, that just feel great!

Tha k you for the encouragement @SudokuBook and we'll done on your run!

I was kind of thinking maybe I won't do it today but now I think I will because of you lot being so encouraging!

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 22/05/2020 15:21

Fantastic hotcrossbun!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@bigchanges1 30 minutes is SUCH an achievement, well done! Finished week 4 this morning, i also shuffle along slowly but I'm yet to stop running until I'm supposed to so I'm pleased with myself! And my knees feel much much better which is a huge relief. Keep going everyone Smile

mooching · 22/05/2020 19:57

I am run three of week three tomorrow, can I join?

Forkrightorf · 22/05/2020 20:00

Welcome @mooching! Congrats on getting to the end of week 3. I finished week 4 this morning. How are you finding it?

Horehound · 22/05/2020 22:36

I managed week 3r1 but for the running part I did it at 8.5km/h rather than the 9 and im glad I did because I doubt if have managed it otherwise.

Well done to @hotcrossbun4321 @mooching and @Forkrightorf

GuyFawkesDay · 22/05/2020 22:41

W6R2 tomorrow 😁

W6R1 was frankly, hideous. I hope tomorrow feels less shite!!!

SudokuBook · 22/05/2020 23:22

Well done Horehound I am much slower than that

mooching · 23/05/2020 08:20

I can't believe that I actually look forward to my runs.

Did anyone find that they were actually running a shorter distance in week 3 or is it just me? I am a notoriously fast walker so maybe that's the problem!
