What's your household bought since lockdown?

Obviously food, also wine, lager, a couple of magazines, compost and plants all from supermarket.

DH ordered some essential gadget for work. I ordered a pair of sandles (had same ones two years ago and they were so comfortable) and DD some shorts for running. Desperately need some summer slippers. Feel bad about ordering these as it's increasing contact for others, but I guess they have to work, so had a dilemma.

This isn't a judgemental thread, but out of interest.

A new lawn mower. Thought we might as well get the garden tidy and the old one chose this time to go bang on us!! Ordered it from a local hardware shop, collected (shop not open) from their car park whilst out doing my weekly shop. Otherwise, trying not to have delivery people come to the house.

Redcrayons · 24/04/2020 10:08

Nothing except groceries, all done in store.

Mostly because I’m Furloughed and watching the pennies, though Also because I’m uncomfortable about online shopping and putting people in harms way for things I don’t really need.

Lovinglockdownlife · 24/04/2020 10:09

Flooring for the bedroom

ArtichokeAardvark · 24/04/2020 10:11

A ton of things, unfortunately. We've just moved house and are mid renovations. With the likes of Homebase all closed, everything that we could have bought in a 20minute round trip has had to be ordered online and it takes around 2 weeks to arrive. Bloody maddening.

notacooldad · 24/04/2020 10:11

Nothing apart from food and even then not much.
I havent needed or wanted anything yet.

cliffdiver · 24/04/2020 10:11

Croc sandles for DDs (Amazon).

Moana costume for DD2 (Amazon) for being brave in hospital.

Other than that, we've only bought groceries from Sainsbury's, once a week.

The day before Lockdown we did buy a XBox One (from Argos within Sainsbury's).

moobar · 24/04/2020 10:11

Dd about to go into next size clothes and I had most but no vests or pyjamas. Got those and added some bits for her, books, bucket and spade for garden.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 24/04/2020 10:12

Allsorts of treats to be honest - am lucky enough to be earning a full salary and my view is that someone needs to keep the economy going. So far I've bought makeup, skincare, perfume, clothes, candles, case of wine, hairdressing scissors, kit to remove my gel nails....I'm sure there's more!

Amicompletelyinsane · 24/04/2020 10:12

We have children. We have ordered things like bulk pet food, jigsaws, paper, craft supplies and ink. Even a tablet as with three children and just one laptop we were having some homework issues. I think people will be ordering and getting more delivered. All five of us are stuck home 24/7.it's nice to have the odd thing arrive.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 24/04/2020 10:12

Just me in my household. Besides food I have bought about 25 novels. Nearly finished them all. About to make a second order.

Figgygal · 24/04/2020 10:14

Bought an amazon tablet for 3yo Ds to help while we were both on furlough

That’s it apart from shopping I have other things We want/need But don’t want people having to pick and deliver my random non essential shit it can wait

Patterjack · 24/04/2020 10:14

Food from the supermarket and two amazon fire sticks.

TooSadToSay · 24/04/2020 10:15

A tag along bike to take the DC out, which has been worth its weight in gold. Also craft and school supplies.

Takingabreakagain · 24/04/2020 10:17

A new vacuum cleaner - the motor on our old one exploded and with two hairy dogs and plenty of long human hair we'd have been really struggling without the new one.
I've also ordered some craft sets for the dc but they haven't arrived yet.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 24/04/2020 10:21

A printer for DS's schoolwork, plus more paper and ink
A ton of tennis balls for playing cricket in the garden and also some other garden toys.
Lots of beer, either from small breweries or our local independent bottle shop, which also sells cheese so we've had some of that.
Spare part for the washing machine
Coffee pods
Some treats from Lush (it's my birthday coming up and I also need Dream Cream for my eczema)

Tried to order some DIY bits and pieces but I cannot find anywhere that delivers what we need and as it's non-essential, I don't feel comfortable doing a click and collect.

I started off trying to only buy essentials but have relaxed a bit more recently and am ordering more luxuries. We've always had lots of beer though, to try to support to small breweries and also to take part in virtual beer tastings which are lots of fun and providing a welcome distraction.

Without wishing to sound too wanky, I am trying to be a bit more "mindful" with what I buy and try to buy as little as possible and from small businesses as much as I can.

BarkandCheese · 24/04/2020 10:23

Deodorant because I need triple dry and the local supermarket doesn’t sell it, washable sanitary towels, big bottles/packs of dishwasher tabs and laundry detergent, dog grooming tools, a bit to fix a leaky tap, a drum of cable (DH’s ongoing project to get power to his shed) and a sun hat.

1990shopefulftm · 24/04/2020 10:25

Maternity clothes and a blood pressure machine and some vitamins, I got a silicone wedding ring which I didnt exactly need as my fingers gotten too fat for my ring, it was from a small Irish company.

ScarfLadysBag · 24/04/2020 10:40

Swing, slide, sand and water table, little rocker thing, more toys for DD, storage units for living room (we were meant to be getting an extension for a playroom but obviously that's on hold indefinitely so having to organise the living room!), some clothes for DD.

ScarfLadysBag · 24/04/2020 10:41

Oh and a new Macbook for work purposes

BearSoFair · 24/04/2020 10:51

Trainers - my old pair started leaking through the soles
Memory card for the Switch
Printer paper
New boxers for DH
Frontline for the cats
Sanpro - had to buy a bulk box as I couldn't find any in shops for a while!

Will have to buy some shorts for DD soon if it keeps warming up, by the end of last summer she said some she had were getting a bit small and she's definitely grown since then!

WhatHaveIFound · 24/04/2020 10:55

Apart from food the only two things i've bought have been paint for DD's bedroom and some bulbs for the garden. No more luxuries for the forseeable future as we're both self employed and not earning anything.

Printer paper for work purposes, shorthand notepad, curry sauces, grater (ours went rusty), foot scrub, thinning shears for hair. All of it apart from curry sauces came in one delivery (Amazon). I needed the paper for work so took the opportunity to add the other stuff. I have also bought a few kindle books and some Apps.

YorkieTheRabbit · 24/04/2020 11:02

Some stuff from Joules
Wine from Laithwaites
New shorts for me and a tee shirt for DP from Next, due tomorrow
Two large terracotta pots for the garden

barberousbarbara · 24/04/2020 11:05

A post-mastectomy bra and button down shirts to help with the recovery from my mastectomy. We've also ordered a parasol so I can sit in the garden.

My other half has just been offered an office based job so he needs to order some suitable clothing, as he previously worked in a factory.
