What's your household bought since lockdown?

Obviously food, also wine, lager, a couple of magazines, compost and plants all from supermarket.

DH ordered some essential gadget for work. I ordered a pair of sandles (had same ones two years ago and they were so comfortable) and DD some shorts for running. Desperately need some summer slippers. Feel bad about ordering these as it's increasing contact for others, but I guess they have to work, so had a dilemma.

This isn't a judgemental thread, but out of interest.

A new oven.
Clippers and hairdressing scissors
A thermometer
A book

Muzzles for the horses.

Peleton bike
Denby studio grey service
Red geraniums
Case of rose wine
Yoga mat
Sink drainer

FuckyNel · 24/04/2020 22:36

Oh oh oh forgot

Silk pillowcase (jury is out on efficacy)

Binterested · 24/04/2020 22:37

Exciting stuff:
New tea towels
New pillows
More Lock & Lock tupperware

Oh and just before lockdown a 42 inch tv to replace our tiny one as I had inkling we would be doing a lot of TV watching. Good decision.

ellanwood · 24/04/2020 22:39

A lot of books on Kindle.
I bought new shoes because plantar fasciitis was making it agony to move and I wanted to try some recommended trainers. They are plug ugly but quite comfortable, so I'll keep them. Also some tee-shirts because I had none and the hot weather in long sleeves was getting silly. The tees I bought are so boring but do the job.

eurochick · 24/04/2020 22:40

Stuff to set up a second work area so we can both work from home - desk, chair, monitor
Printer paper and ink
Loads of craft stuff to keep the five year old occupied
Pet food and litter
Lawn care stuff and varnish to protect a weathered exterior door

So much food and drink. They are going to have to roll me out of here at the end of lockdown.

pinkazing · 24/04/2020 22:43

Ks2 books, handwriting pens and craft supplies for DS. a printer as ours lasted 2 days after school closed and craft supplies. Shorts and shirt for DS as he’s somehow managed to grow 2 cm since lockdown.

Isleepinahedgefund · 24/04/2020 22:44

Loads - a mix of “essential” and frivolous here.

DD grew out of everything overnight (8 and still has those baby like growth spurts!) so clothes and shoes for her from H&M, marks and office.

Sandals for me (same order as for DD’s shoes - might as well while I’m there right)

Home working tech for me

Lots of supplies for home school

Kitchen gadgets

Some Build a bears to cheer DD up (As far as I’m concerned build a bear are a social service at the moment!)

Superdrug and boots - hay fever, medicines, sanpro etc

Going to order some frivolous stuff from John Lewis tomorrow - can’t wait!

Houseinthemiddle · 24/04/2020 22:46

Swing ball

Campbed
A mini greenhouse,
Seeds
More seeds
Felcos
More green bags for recycling.

PickAChew · 24/04/2020 22:49

Groceries and toiletries.

Plant ots and compost. Comfy clothes, new socks for everyone, new shoes to replace ds2's worn out ones, glass food storage dishes (picked up in markses queue) new kitchen knife and sharpener, before I cut a finger off with the knife with a damaged blade and a lamp shade to replace the manky fire hazard of a paper one in the back drop of dh's work video calls.

PickAChew · 24/04/2020 22:52

And a new tumble dryer is on the cards as both the condenser and the main board of mine are dying a death. The main board is £100 just for the part and doesn't solve the other problem.

WineGummyBear · 24/04/2020 22:52

Loads.

For the house:
Garden furniture
Parasol
Plants
Planters
Badminton net & raquets

For the kids:
Desk
Printer & paper
Books
Games
Stationary
Hula hoops

For me:
Second hand turbo trainer
Weighted hula hoop
Books
Stationary

We've had loads of use out of everything.

pallasathena · 24/04/2020 22:52

Plants - growing strawberries, potatoes and tomatoes so bought containers and soil for each.
Herb plants and herb markers so that I know which is which!
New desk for my work as impossible to work at dining table.
Summer tops, pants and cardigans as spring/summer wardrobe seriously grim.
Soup Maker, worth its weight in gold as no sugar/salt as in tinned stuff.
Anti-bacterial gel for use when doing the supermarket shop.
Spices for home made cooking
Presents/cards for family birthdays .
Bird feed for nesting birds in garden.

PickAChew · 24/04/2020 22:53

And I did buy some beconsse, yesterday, as my nose is a constant dribble with the tree pollen.

JKScot4 · 24/04/2020 22:55

New table and chairs for the garden, a storage system set for photographs; can’t wait until it gets here Grin

CraftyGin · 24/04/2020 22:55

Just food. Our lives revolve around food.

MitziK · 24/04/2020 22:57

Food.
Toilet Rolls.
Wanky cat food.
Cat Litter.
Organic Peat Free Compost.
Herbs.
A new trowel.
A saw.
A bottle of elderberry syrup. The post infection gunk in my throat is really, really pissing me off now it's over a month.
The usual multivitamins.
Pack of comfy knickers.
A dress with pockets.

I need a lot of new clothes. But it's having to wait at the moment - and it's not as if I go anywhere.

Tootletum · 24/04/2020 22:57

Local garden centre has a delivery service. PlayStation. Wine.

Lindy2 · 24/04/2020 22:59
  • Some birthday presents for DH and DD soon to be 12.
  • Some summer dresses for DD9. I had promised her these just before lockdown and was going to go and buy them but obviously the shops shut before I could. I got them delivered as I wanted to maintain some element of our normal life for her (and me).
  • some facemasks for everyone In the family from ebay.
  • some garden compost, vegetable seeds and plants. I have an allotment and I am growing as much veg as I can right now. I needed some seeds to do this.
  • some wine making kits. I used to make wine and found my old kit in the garage when DH tided up in there. Now seems like a good time to start brewing again. I will start making some rose wine tomorrow.

I'm trying not to buy stuff just for the sake of it. It's all stuff we need. I do think it is important to keep businesses going though. They need customers to be able to stay in business.

Aberforthsgoat · 24/04/2020 23:00
