Is anyone else experiencing this? Not a single slot as far as the calendar goes (3rd April)

It must be down to where you live. If I order from waitrose now, I can get a delivery on Wednesday but I'm not in a city where I presume it's busier. Have you tried the other supermarkets just in case?

InglouriousBasterd · 14/03/2020 18:36

I did - I checked back the next morning and they’d released more spaces / cancellations I assume, managed to get one for Wednesday evening. Keep checking!!

Dramalamaindeed · 14/03/2020 18:37

Check all supermarkets. There was some for ASDA and tesco for me.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 14/03/2020 18:39

I did my online shop on Thursday and had to book it in for Monday.

RhymingRabbit3 · 14/03/2020 18:41

There are slots for us but half the stuff isnt being delivered. I had 8 substitutions and 8 "unavailable" including toothpaste. Toothpaste "unavailable" not even substituted - does that mean they didnt have any type of toothpaste on the shelf because I find that very hard to believe in our very large asda!

If you can youd be better just going to the shop yourself, at least then you can choose from the available options.

wendz86 · 14/03/2020 18:41

I got one yesterday for Tuesday but couldn't get one at tesco/ocado for about a week.

0htooooodles · 14/03/2020 18:42

None in our area either. Tried Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's - nothing for at least a week!

SparkyBlue · 14/03/2020 18:44

Tesco have absolutely none near me gor next week I managed to get a click and collect for next Thursday

MummaGiles · 14/03/2020 18:46

I’ve just checked and it’s the same for me with Sainsbury’s. Idiots must be booking in multiple slots in advance. They will have to stop people from being able to do that. I’ve got a delivery pass which is now useless.

Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 18:46

I have one for Morrisons on 28th Shock

I have a Sainsburys delivery every Sat (have a delivery pass) but I don't block book.

Before all this panic buying nonsense I would book slot on Weds for Sat delivery. Recently I had to book on the Monday for today's slot but how can they have no single slot for 3 weeks??? Not one random, mid week / middle of the day slot???

Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 18:47

I'm going to contact customer services.

I'm already raging about the whole panic buying situation but this is another level.

Why are people so fucking selfish and shirt sighted?

Not sure if it applies across England, but Morrison's and Ocado generally pick at the warehouse, rather than your local store, so in theory you are more likely to get what you want.

I used to be able to book a Friday or Saturday delivery on the Wednesday of that week, but noticed that decline in the past two weeks and have had to book at least a week in advance.

Mumof1andacat · 14/03/2020 18:49

I got for Thursday from my local sainsbury's

Michaelbaubles · 14/03/2020 18:50

Why is it due to selfish, short-sighted idiots, and not just that more people are having to self-isolate or practising social distancing therefore depending more heavily on supermarket delivery? Why are they selfish and you’re just doing your shop? How do you know it’s not just lots more people doing their shop that way? You don’t own supermarket delivery slots because you use them more often.

Tolleshunt · 14/03/2020 18:51

If it’s any consolation, I booked a Sainsbury’s delivery for today back on Monday. I only got a quarter of the stuff I ordered. Despite them knowing I had ordered items, they did nothing to make sure they could produce the goods, and so they turned up without the most basic things, like eggs. Apparently, despite the order coming from a mammoth sized store, they had literally no eggs whatsoever to substitute Not a single box of any size or type. Not much of anything else, either.

The delivery guy said he had had customers having a go at him all day. Most of the drivers are refusing to work because of all the abuse they have received. Not their fault, of course, they just deliver the stuff. The poor chap was very apologetic.

It seems Sainsbury’s do diddly squat to make sure they can actually provide what people order in advance.....

ExpletiveDelighted · 14/03/2020 18:52

Perhaps its not panic buying selfish idiots but people with chronic conditions who no longer dare to go to the shops, or elderly people who've never used online shopping before getting up and running with it now.

HotDogGuy · 14/03/2020 18:52

@Crunchymum I think they’ve removed all slots over a week away. There are slots on Friday (20th) but nothing after that. Guessing it’s to stop people booking up weeks in advance.
I’d already booked one for next Saturday and that’s showing

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 14/03/2020 18:53

My asda delivery pass definitely has fewer slots available but could deliver Tuesday afternoon

Jobseeker19 · 14/03/2020 18:53

Prime Now (amazon) are doing next day groceries delivery.

dudsville · 14/03/2020 18:54

I placed an order on Wednesday dur a delivery Friday, and there was a lot Of availability and slots thereafter. I got everything with more substitutions than usual, but they were ok.

RiftGibbon · 14/03/2020 18:54

All our local shops are sold out of painkillers, children's medicines, toilet rolls, soap and antibacterial handwash.
I tried to start an online shop so that I could get some essentials for my elderly PILs (who help out his even more elderly BIL) and for a friend who is immunocompromised. But the supermarket website currently had a glitch so no deliver orders can be placed.
Friend cannot go out as is already ill. PILs can go out but need to keep away from people as his BIL is already terminally ill and frail. His DSis is blind and very deaf.
I'm appalled at the selfishness of people.

Blownaway22 · 14/03/2020 18:54

10 days here for a Tesco slot. Couldn't believe it

lazylinguist · 14/03/2020 18:55

People with a cough have been told to self-isolate. That will be a lot of people. They may well therefore order deliveries instead of going to the shops. Stop getting angry with people for behaving perfectly sensibly. Why should you be any more entitled to a delivery slot than anyone else?

Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 18:58

Of course it's all the people self isolating and being socially responsible.

Like feck is it.

People are behaving like absolute maniacs.

I was trying to book my usually delivery. That I've never, ever had trouble with before all the mass hysteria began Hmm
