Anyone Else Excited For AUTUMN :-)

The weather where I am this week has been crap, hot one minute, then blowing a hoolie and lashing it down the next, I never know what to wear each day and end up either cold and wet or hot and bothered because the weather hasn't made up its mind and I get caught out!
Don't get me wrong when summer is actually SUMMER ie. blue skies, sunny & a gentle breeze- I love it!!!! But this is just urgh.

I'm longing for crunchy leaves, boots, furry gilets, hot chocolate, pumpkins, roast dinners, dying my hair as dark as my soul 😆... anyone else with me?!

Nope. Crunchy leaves? Soggy more like. I wore boots for about 8 months and have worn flip flops for about 1. So no
I don’t want to put my boots and fur coat on yet!

However, there are loads more people on mumsnet that love autumn than in real life so you will get lots of ‘ooh yes can’t wait for Halloween and snuggling under blankets and dark nights’. Blueergh.

I love autumn but as Delatron says, all in good time.

Lol I agree I do also enjoy summer, but I only enjoy "proper summer" with nice weather. It's the tooing and frowing between boiling sweaty heat and muggy rainy windy days that I hate. Some days it's been pouring with rain but still 20 degrees so I have no clue what to wear as I'm sweating my guts out in a jacket but the alternative is to get soaked lol!

Oct-Dec is my fave time of year as so much is going on (DH Bday, Halloween, Bonfire Night, DS Bday, then Xmas!)

But okay okay I'll try and contain my thoughts till end of sept 😁... here's hoping for a little more sun & dry days before school hols are out! 🤞🏼

To be fair on you I am getting annoyed with the forecast for next week looking rubbish I thought, well that’s summer over I’ll order some new jumpers to cheer myself up!

So yes, if summer does’t perk up then at least in autumn you have no expectation of nice weather. I get what you mean!

Yes, it’s my favourite season so always look forward to it every year! It’s starting to feel like it’s on its way too with the nights now noticeably pulling in and on the cooler/wetter/windy days we’ve had of late.

Me too! Autumn is my favourite time of year. We are off on holiday in September and I'm hoping we come back to autumnal weather and cosy evenings

Yes, but with caveats as we are moving back to the UK in October, so I need bright crisp days as I drive back from Brussels to Cornwall, and for the days rhe removers are delivering my stuff. I will be ordering logs as well, so a clear day to stack those would be welcome too.

I'd love it if UK summers were consistent like when u go abroad but they're so up and down weather wise.. for example the other day I took DS to park, we walked and I bit pushed DD in pram, it was sunny and cloudy & warm-perfect weather , within 10 mins of being at the park the sky went black and the winds really picked up! We were freezing! Only in shorts and t shirt! So we had to head home! Was so bloody annoying as it wasn't forecast & it tipped it down when we got home!

Yes. Can't wait. I don't want to wish the summer holidays away though, I love having the kids at home and having no routine but I hate summer weather. The weather at the moment is just fine but I love autumn and winter.

I absolutely love Autumn... it begins with the end of summer blackberry picking, then crunchy leaves and conkers. Cosy nights in. Home made soup. Planning for Christmas. I bloody love it 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂

I drink hot steaming tea whatever the season, doesn't need to be autumn. Had a chilli last night too.

I love a good summer, even a rainy one as my wilderness garden is looking all green but this year I have been quietly shopping for seriously bargain- tastic autumn clothes on ebay since early July...

I found a butter soft leather jacket, a burgundy wool coat, some cashmere cardis and even some ridiculously cheap designer leather leggings! Am so excited to wrap up in them without combusting..

And yes to parkin, stews, bonfires, conkers, stormy seas, hot choc and leaf kicking.

I love autumn and I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not wishing the summer away yet.
