The weather where I am this week has been crap, hot one minute, then blowing a hoolie and lashing it down the next, I never know what to wear each day and end up either cold and wet or hot and bothered because the weather hasn't made up its mind and I get caught out!
Don't get me wrong when summer is actually SUMMER ie. blue skies, sunny & a gentle breeze- I love it!!!! But this is just urgh.

I'm longing for crunchy leaves, boots, furry gilets, hot chocolate, pumpkins, roast dinners, dying my hair as dark as my soul 😆... anyone else with me?!

@Delatron I have 2 children under the age of 4. I can assure you I get up early ! My day starts at 6am (if I'm lucky!) !

Yes and it’s far worse getting up at that time to pitch black. Goes against our natural body clocks. I wake feeling energised when it’s light, opposite in the dark. Though I’ve given in and bought one of those light box alarm things.

BearRabbitPants · 15/08/2019 14:08

I do agree @Delatron I also don't like the dark mornings as I'm not a natural morning person as it is so I do struggle. But that's a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things for me Grin

Yes I love Autumn & Winter :) dark , cold early mornings are going to great snuggling in bed with my 1 yr old daughter this year , they wernt so fun when Inused to wake up at 6am for work everyday 😆

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 15/08/2019 14:34

Meeee. I love Autumn with log fires and beautiful skies. I also like dark evenings.

lumpy76 · 15/08/2019 15:00

I start dreading Autumn and Winter now! I suffer from severe Raynauds (basically anything under 15 c will see my fingers and toes blue/white. Walk me through the fridge isle of a supermarket and my hands go dead. Add into that dark morning and dark evenings (I think I'm prone to SAD) and 6/9 months of the year are just depressing!!

Deathraystare · 15/08/2019 15:07

It is a pretty time of year (all seasons have nice things about them). But. I hate the autumnal shades that do nothing for me. Hate the colour pumpkin and all the browns. I am a 'spring' .

lazylinguist · 15/08/2019 15:07

I always look forward to the next season. I love how we all persist in our expectations of crisp autumns, snowy winters, bright fresh springs and gloriously warm summers, when what we really get is mostly varying degrees of damp, accompanied by chilly or lukewarm. Grin

Delatron · 15/08/2019 16:04

This is true linguist , in fact it is often about 13 degrees in December, well we can get that temperature through summer too so not much seasonal variation! I’d love proper cold snowy winters (but brief) then a nice early Spring.

I get raynauds too so such a pain. And SAD.
So agree with the 6-9 months of misery. August has been rubbish so July and maybe a week in June and that week at Easter was pretty much it for this year for the nice warm weather. I did enjoy July while it lasted though.

beanaseireann · 15/08/2019 16:05

I hate it.
Summer is over.
Awful winter is coming. Sad

Coniferhedge · 15/08/2019 16:18

I was in Sainsbury’s this morning and told the checkout lady that I couldn’t wait for the stollen and Christmas cake to come into the shops as I love them. She admitted she can’t wait as she loves them too!

MissGuernsey · 15/08/2019 16:29

Yes. Start of the cross country running season!

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 15/08/2019 17:57

I can't wait for the kids to go back to school. I enjoy October half term with them more than any of the other holidays.
Just the right amount of time and there are normally loads of events and activities to keep them amused.
I also like to add brandy to my evening hot drinks and pretend it's too warm me up...

sawyersfishbiscuits · 18/08/2019 17:15

I've just been blackberry picking with the kids and now we have apple and blackberry pie cooking in the oven 🍂❤️ DH picked scrumped some apples that were growing in the street on our estate earlier. Also had to make brownies cos baking makes me feel autumnal 🍂
Once the kids are back then it will really be the start of autumn!

sawyersfishbiscuits · 18/08/2019 17:17

Oh yes OP... GBBO!!! Ahhhh

BearRabbitPants · 18/08/2019 19:50

@BumpkinSpiceBatty (love the user name) I agree October half term is fab so many Halloween 👻 activities ! Love pumpkin picking !

@sawyersfishbiscuits your baked goods sound divine 🥧! I think GBBO starts again next week? Possibly week after? Bloody love it!

I'm really enjoying the nights being darker. It's 8pm and the sun is actually halfway down now. Bedrooms nice and dark. No comments from DS "it can't be bedtime it's light outside" Grin
Have heard there's gonna be a mini heatwave again Bank hol weekend so if anyone wants to make the most of the final sun of summer that'll be the time to do it I think! I'll be enjoying it of course but will then be looking forward to it getting crisper and cooler (and actually knowing what to wear day to day!)

Lindormilk · 18/08/2019 21:27

Ive also been blackberry picking . 1kg in the freezer! Back next week for more!

BearRabbitPants · 18/08/2019 21:29

DH went today too (we have a huge blackberry bush opposite our house!) think he wants my DM to make him a crumble (I can't bake 😕!)

OP posts:
BumpkinSpiceBatty · 19/08/2019 10:03

I think I am going to have to do some baking now!

Benjispruce · 19/08/2019 21:24

I picked lots of plump blackberries last week in my garden in the middle of England. Today, in Devon, whilst walking the coast path, I noticed that the blackberries were barely pink!

Benjispruce · 19/08/2019 21:25

Bear crumble is child’s play.

Benjispruce · 19/08/2019 21:26

I’ve frozen my juicy berries for autumn. Too early yet.

Lindormilk · 19/08/2019 22:28

Went for a run tonight and saw loads more blackberries, plus sloes and damsons.

Back tomorrow with the car and a few tubs!
