Anyone Else Excited For AUTUMN :-)

The weather where I am this week has been crap, hot one minute, then blowing a hoolie and lashing it down the next, I never know what to wear each day and end up either cold and wet or hot and bothered because the weather hasn't made up its mind and I get caught out!
Don't get me wrong when summer is actually SUMMER ie. blue skies, sunny & a gentle breeze- I love it!!!! But this is just urgh.

I'm longing for crunchy leaves, boots, furry gilets, hot chocolate, pumpkins, roast dinners, dying my hair as dark as my soul 😆... anyone else with me?!

@BearRabbitPants I'm already excited 🍁😂 We have our little Autumn rituals, I'll be so sad when the kids get too grown up and don't want to go looking for conkers.

Jaffacakebeast · 08/08/2019 17:14

First frost, favourite jumpers :) not so keen on the chilblains and gas bill though

DrCoconut · 08/08/2019 17:15

It's a no from me. Summer has barely kicked in this year (at least where we are). Even the last few weeks of the summer term were ruined by the weather with sports days and summer fetes and fun days rained off. The forecast is temperatures in the teens and rain all next week too. I'm enjoying my nice clothes, light nights and being able to leave the back door open during the day. Let me have a few weeks before the return of drizzle and grey for 8 months!

@Redspider1 I can never stomach a tea or hot choc in summer I don't know why! I did have a chilli last week I must admit but it was torrential rain all day lol

@Bigfanofcheese oohhh your new clothes sound amaze! I think winter fashion is so much nicer. I love big scarfs and nice wool hats. I also have a furry Russian style hair band thing that looks amazing when paired with a nice dark lippy!

I cant wait OP. My favourite time of year is Sept-Dec. Going away beginning of September but will be in full Autumn mode when I am back Grin

Loopytiles · 08/08/2019 17:28

I like British summers like this, not hot!

Also like early autumn while still light in eves. Less keen when it slides towards winter sludgy weather.

Blackberries are already ready where we are (south east)! And DH was talking about making cider last night.

vasya · 08/08/2019 17:31

I'm getting excited too. I love summer and I am enjoying it, but I have a pleasant sense of expectation about the weather cooling and the house getting cosy in the next few weeks.

MiddleForDiddle · 08/08/2019 17:33

I ordered a gorgeous faux fur throw which arrived today. I can't wait for the chillier weather so I can snuggle up with it on the sofa.
I love autumn / winter! I think winter clothes are much more flattering than summer ones and I adore the nights drawing in and getting the house nice and cosy.
Plus autumn means Christmas is getting closer!

BearRabbitPants · 08/08/2019 17:42

@Loopytiles yes same here (also south east) re. Blackberries ! Seems really early ? Big bush outside our house. DH loves blackberry crumble so I'm sure DS and I will be delegated to pick them soon lol

@MiddleForDiddle your throw sounds divine Grin

Came for the Mumsnet Autumn clichés... Was not disappointed Smile

BearRabbitPants · 08/08/2019 18:12

@Propertyofhood should have done Mumsnet autumn bingo 🤣

Apart from the B word, I am looking forward to Autumn.

BearRabbitPants · 08/08/2019 20:09

B word??

It's my favourite season I love it!! Loved reading all these comments xx

31RueCambon · 08/08/2019 20:14

I know what you mean. Either it is properly warm.... or it is easier to wear jumpers

shins · 08/08/2019 21:20

Feck sake no. It's been a mediocre summer here with buckets more rain predicted. Even the place "on the continent" we're going to for two weeks at the end of the month has a rainy dull forecast.

All this joyous snuggling with blankets and crunching through leaves sounds lovely but it's not much fun when you're leaving the house and coming home in the dark for months on end!😣

Lindormilk · 08/08/2019 21:27

Ive had a delivery of logs and anthracite today😁. Its made me happy. Love the smell of coal smoke in the air, lights on in living rooms, walks after dark. Love it!

Hassled · 08/08/2019 21:34

I love autumn. Definitely my favourite season. New pencil cases in my childhood have been replaced by new boots in adulthood - I just love it. But yes, 31/10 won't quite have the same feeling of happiness this year.

Benjispruce · 08/08/2019 21:44

Was out walking my dog this afternoon and a lady was picking blackberries. I thought it was early but she had a bowlful. I tasted one and was a bit sharp. Will pick in about a month.

bellinisurge · 08/08/2019 21:48

@BearRabbitPants [whispers] Brexit.

ilovesooty · 08/08/2019 21:50

No. We've hardly had any kind of summer.

CloudPop · 08/08/2019 21:56

No not at all, let's enjoy what's left of summer
