The weather where I am this week has been crap, hot one minute, then blowing a hoolie and lashing it down the next, I never know what to wear each day and end up either cold and wet or hot and bothered because the weather hasn't made up its mind and I get caught out!
Don't get me wrong when summer is actually SUMMER ie. blue skies, sunny & a gentle breeze- I love it!!!! But this is just urgh.

I'm longing for crunchy leaves, boots, furry gilets, hot chocolate, pumpkins, roast dinners, dying my hair as dark as my soul 😆... anyone else with me?!

Oh I love autumn! Last year I got DH (he's a Web designer) to make me this autumn checklist of all our favourite autumnal activities.

Me too Ilovesooty
‘Snuggling on the sofa under a blanket’. Makes me just feel ill. What for 8 months?

I love light evenings and getting out and about. Going for a run in the morning sun. Hate the dark and cold.

BearRabbitPants · 09/08/2019 19:56

@Fluffiest sorry but I'm stealing that checklist and informing DH immediately- you sound like my kind of people!!! 🍂🍂🐿🐿

@EnidButton yes! The grey drizzly miserable days to me are from Jan-March usually. Early Autumn in the low teens temp wise, sunny days, crisp mornings. Beautiful colours, amazing clothes (being able to wear LOTS of black my fave 🤣) ... ooohhh I just love it. Weather here today was 23 degrees but torrential rain!!! Now what in the actual eff am I meant to wear in these conditions??? Cheeses me off.

@DrCoconut Grin you carry on! Love a cuppa tea ☕️ and wish I could stomach them all year round... prob a good thing I don't though as I have 2 sugars and lashings of milk 🐷

Steal away BearRabbitPants, happy to share

MotherofKitties · 09/08/2019 20:49

I love the winter months, it's 100% my favourite time of year!

The frosty mornings, the colour of the trees, wrapping up against the cold, getting the gloves and scarfs out, the dark nights snuggled up in front of the stove, any excuse for a hot chocolate, the winter storms, hearing the rain lashing against your window, breaking out the winter stews and roast dinners into your regular repertoire again, bonfire night, the countdown to Christmas....

And of course, not forgetting the most important thing, the ever-exciting prospect of the chance of snow Grin

I love it all.

That “autumn” list is pure MN. Most of these things can be done all year round - scented candles, make a pie...

Twigletgirl27 · 09/08/2019 21:38

The rain is lashing down here (Northumberland) and thunder and lightening started. Feeling very cosy. I’m fortunate to have 2 weeks in Gran Canaria in September but I still love autumn. Shops today full of lovely mustards, oranges, burgundy. Bring it on!

Benjispruce · 09/08/2019 21:43

Just took the dog out for her bedtime walk. VERY windy .

Poota · 09/08/2019 21:57

Yes, but only because I fecking hate the combination of grey wet and close heat humidity. Hot is for sun, grey wet is for cold. Weather gods, stop pissing about.

Nuttyaboutnutella · 09/08/2019 21:59

I love Autumn! Grin
It's my favourite season with Spring a close second.
I spent some time today planning what soups I can make (I love soup!) And when I can make it. I also love all the different varieties of squash and autumnal fruit. I've been craving apples but refuse to have them until September. Only a few more weeks Grin

BearRabbitPants · 09/08/2019 22:11

@dementedma but would you want to eat a pie in summer? I wouldn't, ice creams for summer , apple pie and custard for winter 🙂

BearRabbitPants · 09/08/2019 22:12

@Nuttyaboutnutella yes soup! And stacks of crusty bread (preferably tiger bread) and butter 🤤... mouth is watering now lol

I don't get all this seasonal dependent food . I eat soup several times a week and ice cream all year round.

TapasForTwo · 10/08/2019 00:15

Nope.
Don't "do" Halloween
Quite like fireworks
Dislike Christmas and new year
Hate driving to and from work in the dark
Prefer to wear summer clothes
Hate feeling encumbered wearing loads of layers, coats, scarves etc
Hate the damp gloomy, grey weather that is a typical autumn day where I live.
Cosy = claustrophobic to me. I prefer light and airy
Having heating on and using the tumble dryer means higher utility bills
Don't get the excitement over hot chocolate
Not fond of casseroles

PamelaTodd · 10/08/2019 07:03

I enjoy Autumn for the anticipation of Christmas (not so keen on actual Christmas at all) and Spring for the anticipation of Summer. I love putting sunblock on and getting that scent memory of lovely summer holidays. Not so keen on actually slathering on the horrid stuff daily.

Benjispruce · 10/08/2019 08:27

Well it’s arrived here! Like it or not.

Benjispruce · 10/08/2019 08:29

Op you need to allow yourself to eat the foods you love all year round. There are no seasonal food police. I’m sitting in bed with a steaming mug of tea and will have a bowl of porridge in a little while- the sky won’t fall in .Smile

Benjispruce · 10/08/2019 08:29

Though it’s doing a good job of blowing in at the moment.

BearRabbitPants · 10/08/2019 09:58
