I’m loving watching this. God love jade. So sad her life was tragically short. It’s such a blast from the past. Anyone else watching?

Yes

KnifeAngel · 07/08/2019 21:51

Yes, I loved Jade. I watched all of Big Brother and liked her from day one.

formerbabe · 07/08/2019 21:52

Yes, so sad

Everythingmagnolia · 07/08/2019 21:53

I am. So tragic

havingapanicattack · 07/08/2019 21:53

Yes ... 2002 seems so long ago and only yesterday at the same time ...

I don’t think the way we do TV and media and ‘celebrity’ has gotten any better to be honest . It’s probably somewhat worse .

havingapanicattack · 07/08/2019 21:53

And yes , very very sad .

Jomalaldi · 07/08/2019 21:54

She didn’t have the best start in life but she was street smart for sure

plinkyblonk · 07/08/2019 21:56

Yes! I love that underneath it all she was a clever cookie.

WillowSummerSloth · 07/08/2019 21:56

Really takes me back. And seeing how she changed from the young girl that entered BB to the business woman. She was the start of being famous just for being well known. Also randomly liking the fashion and seeing how things have changed.

crosser62 · 07/08/2019 21:59

It’s making me really mad at how she was bullied and ripped to pieces by the papers. But the crowds shouting and screaming in an awful awful way.
I’m horrified. That poor girl.
I hope that those people are fucking ashamed of themselves for being a part in that.

MadisonAvenue · 07/08/2019 22:00

I'm watching. It's very sad to see.

I loved Big Brother back then, I remember being glued to the first three series.

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 07/08/2019 22:00

Which channel please?

Jomalaldi · 07/08/2019 22:05

Channel 4. Didn’t know this wasn’t a one off!

She wasn't clever. And she was a proven racist. Her death was tragic but that doesn't change either of those facts. That said, I am sad for her family, and for her, that she didn't get to see her boys grow up. She clearly adored them.

Jomalaldi · 07/08/2019 22:13

A proven racist. What does that mean?

OP posts:
WillowSummerSloth · 07/08/2019 22:13

I think it's a fair representation of her so far. She was crass at times and we know she was involved in an awful racist incident. But we also know she overcame a difficult upbringing and was ambitious and savvy with the media. I'm enjoying watching her journey and so far the documentary has celebrated her life but I wonder how ill feel when it gets to the racist part as I remember being shocked and appalled at the time. I think it's a balanced story so far.

Shmithecat2 · 07/08/2019 22:15

I was quite emotional a few minutes in. Such a sad story.

Patroclus · 07/08/2019 22:20

I dont know much about her but I know she called that woman 'Shilpa Poppadom'

Hadenoughofitall441 · 07/08/2019 22:39

I loved her, followed her from big brother onwards. I was 14 when she was on it and I thought she was fasicnating in the fact that she did what she wanted. It’s the same with all celebrity’s that are painted in a bad light, you only see what they want you to see. So many things you don’t know.

Tiredtessy · 07/08/2019 22:54

So if someone who was white British called sharon fish and chips would that be racist? No one battered an eye lid about the Jackson bloke referring to white trash

Bezalelle · 07/08/2019 23:24

Ever heard of privilege? There isn't a long history of black people oppressing whites, is there, you absolute lummox?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 07/08/2019 23:51

She wasn’t white though; she was mixed race.

Patroclus · 08/08/2019 00:11

Interesting isnt it, when it happened nobody idiotically questioned if it was really racist. Sign of the times, we're going backwards.

I dont recall the Indians colonising us for centuries

Isadora2007 · 08/08/2019 00:16

I didn’t like her in life. I’m sad as I would be about any other young mum dying though- it’s a real tragedy and I feel for her family. Jeff did seem to do an amazing job as a dad to the boys thankfully. But I don’t get the tragic jade thing really. Whilst I appreciate her cancer helped raise awareness for the importance of smears for young women, the cynical side of me thinks she wanted to court the fame even during her cancer journey which just doesn’t sit right. Priorities just seemed skewed.

HelenaDove · 08/08/2019 01:04

I cant understand how SS let her stay with her mum Especially when her mum thumped her the way she said.

I cant stand reality TV but i did watch BB 3 Back then it was touted as something different. Now reality TV seems to be the main TV feature.
